late breaking news out of d.c. a traffic stop ended with a police officer opening fire, shooting at least one person. it happened near the 4400 block of pond street northwest and that is where ken molestina joins us live. what happened? >> reporter: let's bring you up to speed with this one. police still on the scene. you can see over my shoulder they are trying to piece this one together. we do know a traffic stop went bad near pond street and gunfire broke out. two men were inside a car that was pulled over when at least one shot was fired from an officers gun. it's unclear what lead up to the gunfire. police say one of the men was shot. the other one took off on foot. the man that was hit was taken to a nearby hospital and we're told his injuries are non-life threatening. detectives and other officers swarmed the scene shortly after. i'll tell you this is an area known for crime just earlier this month. we were out here after a young man was murdered, less than two blocks away from where this happened tonight. let's come back out live. you can see still police tape and some officers still out

here on the scene. of course police still trying to get some more answers in this investigation. we're told that no officer was hurt but of course, they're still looking into this, still trying to piece this together. we'll let you know what happened. ken molestina, 9 news now. new at 11 police rescued a woman trapped beneath a car along the national mall. u.s. park police say around 8:00 tonight a car hit that victim near 17th and constitution northwest. police haven't given us her name but they do say she suffered life threatening injuries. they also don't know if she was in a crosswalk at the time of the accident. no one else was hurt and there's no word yet if there are going to be any charges filed against the driver who hit her. tonight the first indictment in a case that rocked the prince georges county community. it involves a man named robbie white. he died back in 2008 under a mysterous circumstance, inside a county jail cell. dead just 48 hours after he was arrested for allegedly killing a police officer. a former corrections officer at the jail is now charged in

connection with white's death. matt joins us live from upper marlboro with the latest on this case. matt? >> reporter: anita, a man accused of killing a cop dies at the prince georges county jail. that was nearly four years ago. tonight a former corrections officer is under arrest. >> on june 27, 2008, 19-year- old ronnie white was arrested for the hit and run death of prince georges county police officer richard finley, a death that sparked an outpouring of grief and anger. >> just hard to take in. >> two days later, white was found unresponsive in his cell, but the prince georges county jail and was pronounced dead an hour later after being taken to the hospital. >> he was murdered. >> that was the attorney for ronnie white's family speak a few years ago. the medical examiner in fact did eventually rule that homicide by strangulation was the cause of white's death, but nobody had ever been charged in connection with the case. >> he was actually murdered in

his jail cell. >> until today, when a three count federal indictment was filed against anthony mcintosh, the corrections officer who found white in his cell. according to the indictment, mcintosh's failure to provide medical care when he saw white was in need of help resulted in white's death and the indictment charges mcintosh covered up the circumstances surrounding the discovery of and response to ronnie white's medical emergency. >> mcintosh was arrested earlier today in new york. he will have his first court appearance some time later tomorrow and if convicted he could face life in prison. anita? >> matt jablo, thank you. an update on a body found down deep in a well in fort washington. prince georges county police say they won't be able to remove the body until tomorrow. now, somebody called police, tipped them off to the location, in the 11900 block of old fort road. officers lowered a camera where they found the remains.

they haven't released anymore information about that victim. alexandria city police were also on hand but with not say what their role is in todays investigation. tonight the fbi releases chilling video of a man firing shots at the national museum of the marine corps. we now know who that masked man is. investigators say in a two week span he fired at that museum twice as well as a coast guard recruiting office in woodbridge. a marine corps recruiting station and the pentagon. we were in courtroom when he plead guilty to these crimes. >> blasting music, the 23-year- old makes his way to the marine corps museum in virginia. >> it's a military building and that's a building of target. >> seconds later he turns the camera on himself, and he gets

ready to attack the museum with his .9-millimeter semiautomatic pistol. nearly 20 rounds fired into the museum october of 2010 and this would be his second attack in a month. he then seeps to celebrate and sings along with the music. and shouts alahu akbar. a minute later, he takes the mask off and you can clearly see his face. he makes the second pass at the museum and fires again. >> his defense attorney asked the judge for a psychiatric evaluation of his client for anger management and ptsd. the judge is taking that under consideration but the u.s. attorney says there were no indications of mental health issues during their

investigation. molaku faces too years in prison for these shootings and he's expected to be sent elsed in april. the convicted killer in the gruesome lulu lemon murder will soon learn her fate. sentencing is set for britney norwood tomorrow. a jury convicted her of first degree murder in the killing of her co-worker jane murray. norwood bludgeoned murray inside the bethesda yoga store back in march and tried to cover up the crime pretending there were intruders. prosecutors want the judge to sentence norwood with life in prison for no chance of parole. norwood's family is pleading with the judge to leave open the possibility she might one day get out. we'll have full coverage of the sentencing tomorrow. an update on the woman accused of robbing the elderly and using kids to help her committ these crimes. u.s. marshals have arrested 48 year old linda mccorkle in new york. prince georges county police say a few weeks ago, mccorkle had children with her when she

approached a woman in a parking lot asking for help to cash a check. the victim agreed and drove mccorkle to the bank while a second woman took the kids away. once at the bank, police say she threatened to shoot the victim if she didn't withdraw several thousand dollars from her savings. police have not arrested the second suspect in this case. metro has spent the day replacing a cracked rail on the redline, that made the morning commute oh, so slow. a section of rail crack early this morning. they're saying it was miserable. a section of the ray cracked earlier this morning between tinley town and friendship heights stations. metro says these kind of cracks are often caused by cold weather and sudden changes in temperature but they don't know what happened here because it certainly wasn't that cold. though there's more than 200 demonstrators who converge on petco service center in

northwest, protesting the power companies proposed $42 million rate increase. the group called itself rdc, and it says they're fed up with the utilities poor service record and what they ross recalling or seen propheteering. protesters stood outside chanting demanding the companies ceo joe rigby come down and speak with them. >> we want him to address the fact that they've made over $800 million in profits. they've received over $800 million in tax refunds but they paid zero dollars in federal and state taxes and now they want more money. do you think that's a bit much? >> the group also wants rigby to give back half of his new three year $6 million compensation package. the ceo never came down to the protest but the company did release the statement. we are investing approximately a half billion dollars over five years to improve reliability and our focus right now is achieving that goal for our customers. a quote from pepco.

several students are hitting the girl in the very center and instead of helping her other kids try to get out of the way. at one point the bus driver turned and yelled at the students and later pulls over and stops the attack. five girls and two boys are facing criminal charge in the beating on the bus. an immigration reform group sent a tastey message to the mayor of east haven, connecticut. listen to this. the group delivered 500 tacos to mayor joseph baturo, after he made what the group considered an insensitive remark. the fbi recently arrested four city police officers for racial profiling, so a reporter asked the mayor what he would do for the la seen o community. he said he might eat some tacos. the mayor was not in his office today when the tacos arrived for him. the food was donated to a soup kitchen and the mayor since apologized for that comment. okay so we've got an update on a controversial newspaper ad from washington sports clubs. we showed it to you last night.

much going on in the metro area. they are getting hammered out around cincinnati and eastern kentucky and much of ohio. these are thunderstorms, even out in southwestern ohio and northeastern kentucky, these are pretty big thunderstorms already rolled through cincinnati crossing 71, already now east of 75 headed toward mazeville and eventually headed into northeastern ohio. right now we are just looking at clouds, no shortage of clouds right now and most of the showers are well to the north of us but i think as we go through the night, three, four, 5:00 in the morning that's when our chance for showers will begin to increase so the morning commute it looks wet, okay? morning showers, maybe thunderstorms still 8:00, 9:00, 10:00 in the morning and we're looking at a windy and warm morning and also afternoon and a little bit cooler over the weekend, but i've got to tell you the temperature adjustment so to speak is not going to be radical. we'll lose 10 degrees, that will put us back in the 50s. brrr. 6:00 tomorrow, there are the showers, generally light.

fredrick, gaithersburg, over to leesburg and down to fredericksburg, put it into motion and by noon most of the showers across the bay, a few lingering showers into southern maryland, we begin to see clearing skies and good news for the skiers. this is still a good ski weekend, even though we raised temperatures in the metro area, you'll see snow tomorrow afternoon and tomorrow night and they will be able to make snow much of the weekend and snow should continue in there even into saturday morning, so still a good weekend to go skiing. as far as we're concerned a few clouds come back on saturday and that is just about it, all in all a pretty nice looking weekend. overnight looks like this. looking at mostly cloudy skies, windy and warm with showers maybe a thunderstorm toward dawn, low temperatures around 50, winds increase, gusting and really looking at temperatures rising and that warm front is just to our south now. in the morning windy and warm, showers and storms ending, and temperatures in the 50s, winds west southwest at 10-20 and gusting and then by afternoon,

becoming partly cloudy and windy and warm you'll need the sunglasses in the afternoon highs around 60 and the winds turn northwesterly at 10-20 and rather gusty. you'd think that would bring in cold air. it really won't. it will cool us down a little bit but there's no arctic air or super cold air behind this front. let's break it down. showers and storms at 6:00 in the 50s, partly cloudy by noon, very nice. upper 50s, low 60s, cloudy by evening, 56-61 so again warm with a morning shower and also a thunderstorm. now the next three days, yeah we go downhill a little bit, but i think we can handle low 50s with sunshine on saturday and i think we can handle mid to upper 40s on sunday also with sunshine. and next seven days, monday is cold, we'll be down to 40 which by the way is about average this time of the year but much like this weekend, or this winter rather, we are going to see temperatures bounce back up very quickly after it gets cold, so we go back in the low 50s on tuesday with sunshine, we go back in the upper 50s next wednesday, and maybe rain
