if carbon monoxide poisoning made some people sick early this morning in georgetown. ten people were evaluated but it doesn't look like anyone will have to go to the hospital. this happened on 33rd street just hours ago near m. street. there were high readings of carbon monoxide in the area at the time we're told. this could make two carbon monoxide poisoning incidents in the district in less than 24 hours. the d.c. fire department is making a big push to get co and smoke detectors in every home. we're joined this morning by chief kenneth ellerbe. usually we are reporting these kinds of stories during the winter months, why is it that co is a problem in winter? >> well, that's because people use their heaters in the wintertime and a lot of times they don't have the furnaces checked there could be a leak they're not aware of. >> in fact the incident yesterday, the furnace had just been serviced but this has been a pretty mild winter and you haven't had very many calls with people worried about c. o.? >> people are always worried about it but we haven't had a lot of call this is winter.

between driving with and driving without the star safety system. the star safety system includes features such as vehicle stability control, traction control, and anti-lock brakes and as you can see kate demonstrating it's very difficult to drive without those features involved. so what we're going to do now is activate those features for kate so that she can try again and see the difference. in what this does is it gives users an opportunity to feel what the difference is firsthand because a lot of these systems -- you would never know that you have them until you need them. so vehicle stability control, will selectively apply the brakes to the independence wheels. and that will give you control around the corners. traction control. modulates the throttle input and that maintains traction during acceleration. and of course anti-lock brake
