folks who attended the dinner are america's power. tonight, the occupy d.c. protesters made them glitter even more. >> occupy d.c. protesters tested the patience of police officers manning square block perimeter around the capital hilton. they threw water and glitter at guests, including senator joe lieberman, who stumbled past our camera. >> the only thing keeping us from further police state is activism. >> earlier, several hundred protesters marched from mcpherson square to the capital hilton where the al alfalfa was holding its annual dinner. >> all the government elites are meeting in that building

right now to go against the rest of us to keep their taxes low, to deregulate the banks and to basically assault the 99%. >> among the guests were president obama, ceo's and lawmakers whose idea of a dinner was slightly different than protesters. >> always a very important event. you get to meet your old friends and see a will the of people from both parties who made a difference. it's a very good thing. >> there goes president obama. it's unlikely he saw any of the action out here on the street with the d.c. occupiers. >> the mostly young crowd turned the protests into what they called the street party for the 99%. to counter the alfalfa club's 1%. the route, sometimes topless, and sometimes pot smoking protesters were not arrested. >> now bruce, i've been following the occupy d.c.

protesters on their live stream and they have dispursed right now, but there's going to be some more action the coming days because behind me, it's mcpherson square that has been ordered dismantelled. they are certainly not happy about that. reporting live from mcpherson square, i'm armando trull, back to you. >> national park service has given the two occupy sites until noon monday to remove all evidence of camping at mcpherson square and freedom plaza. for four months, federal authorities looked the other way as some of the occupy protesters have brought in sleeping provisions to bed down for the night. republicans on capitol hill this week all but ordered u.s. park service to begin enforcing the regulation against camping on federal parkland. camping is to find as sleeping or preparing to sleep at the site. is there sleeping going on in mcpherson square? >> yes, sir, we do believe

there is. >> at noon on monday, u.s. park police will begin seizing camping equipment and or arresting violators. camping equipment includes bedding, storage gear, and anything used to make a fire. trouble tonight with occupy protesters in oakland, california. police used tear gas and flash grenades to break up hundreds of demonstrations. officers say some protesters threw rocks and flairs, tore down fences, and ignored their orders to leave. three police officers were injured. 19 people arrested. police say the crowd moved through downtown oakland, disrupting traffic. took nearly eight hours of excavation, but a body has been removed from a 20-foot well in fort washington, maryland. an unanimous tip on thursday led authorities to the site on old fort road near flagg ship avenue. the next step is trying to identify that body and determine just how it got there. >> it's trouble. >> the 20-foot deep well can

be found along a winding dirt path far from the main road. >> in order for him to be back there, somebody had to know that well was there. >> the discovery has shaken residents. >> it's scary. because we live in a nice neighborhood. >> we're going straight from the top around the well. >> digging that far deep on a crime scene is a delicate and complicated process. >> we would go 5 feet at a time. >> one that andrew has done. >> it was an unusual call. >> investigators are in hazmat gear. it's been an all day process trying to remove the body. police don't know how long the body has been there or who it is, but questions remain if it is that of 53-year-old missing activist, he went missing in september. his phone found on the wilson bridge not far from the well. >> really don't want to know. i just want to mike sure my

family is good. >> a tip brought investigators here earlier this week as officers scoured every inch of the property. the case stands as a death investigation that has now become the first of its kind in the region. >> no one in the d.c. area in recent memory can think of a time when they've had to do a recovery of a body from a well. and basically what the prince georges county police department is doing right now is creating a case study. >> in fort washington, surae chin, 9news now. >> prince georges county police tonight say an identity could be released sometime tomorrow. tonight, police in montgomery county are investigating a suspicious death. authorities were called the july drive this afternoon. a male caller reported his wife was dead. officers found an adult female believed to be about 62 years old in her bedroom. she had injures to her upper body, according to police. the 68-year-old male subject is being interviewed tonight by detectives and remains in

police custody. he has not yet been charged at this time. an update on a developing story from 6:00 at the fairfax city judicial complex. tonight we're told that police responded to a suicidal man on the top level of the county courthouse parking lot. after about six hours, police were able to take that man into custody. no wrd on his identity. they blocked off the area surrounding the courthouse as well as all of downtown fairfax. in other news tonight, we have identities on the four people killed in a crash on route 50 early this morning. maryland state police say a driver apparently went the wrong way on route 50 and anne arundel county. the accident happened near davidsonville road. three people were dead at the scene. the fourth person died on the way to a hospital. three of the victims have been identified tonight. they are 18-year-old brian ama reiiana.

the fourth victim has not been identified. killed at least 26 people tonight, several more have been injured. it happened in lima, peru. the fire could have been started during some kind of fight. health official says the two story building had no license and was over crowded. coming up on 9news now this saturday night, a republican presidential candidate forced out of the race a while back, is endorsing newt gingrich. we'll have the latest on the campaign trail. just ahead on 9news now, a huge turnout to welcome home troops from iraq this weekend. we'll take you to the homecoming. and it's still breezy. temperatures will be cooler tomorrow and also for your monday. here's a look at your wakeup weather. breezy, but lots of sunshine on your sunday morning. temperatures down to 20s and 30s. i will talk about the chance for some sprinkles and some flurries. your forecast coming up a little bit later.

gingrich. two other candidates left florida leaving the stage to the two front runners. danielle nottingham has the latest on the primary two days away. >> reporter: newt gingrich picked up a major endorsement in west palm beach. >> i hereby officially and enthusiastically endorse newt gingrich for president of the united states. >> former republican presidential candidate, herman cain, threw his support behind gingrich saturday night. >> speaker gingrich is a patriot, speaker gingrich is not afraid of bold ideas. >> cain is a tea party favorite and may give gingrich the much needed momentum. gingrich trails mitt romney by 8 points in the latest survey. but the former speaker of the house says he's the only one who can beat president obama in november.

welcome home iraq war veterans. several hundred veterans dressed in camouflage marched down the streets today. along with marching bands, politicians, even the budweiser clydesdales. >> it's such a big deal to the people who do this. and i think we should honor them more. >> to st. louis, men launched their grass roots efforts to hold that parade after noticing there wasn't a parade celebration. quite a sight this morning in annapolis, maryland. lesli brown, the first african american graduate of the united states nay val academy made an appearance at the school's annual track that bears his name. brown earned his commission back in 1949. he's also a d.c. native, a graduate of dunbar senior high school. he spent the day meeting and greeting current mid shipman. it's so great to see other
