admitted he has been looking the other way, ignoring a long standing ban on camping. today is d-day. the scores of tarps and tents must be removed from the park. the ban prohibits any tents or bedding to be set up here but the parks service has always gotten around that ban by calling this an ongoing 24-hour vigil. somehow house republicans in a hearing last week said if the rules can be bent for these protesters, why not for the american families visiting washington, d.c. here's what okay pirates -- occupiers had to say. >> i think what we are doing is generally a very intelligent demonstration. and they have a mandate to enforce and to keep you know, except the peace. >> some might try to get sleep

in during the day so they can be here at night to have continued presence in the park. >> reporter: you can see protesters up at this early hour, holding a sign, knowing television cameras are here. to report on their impending moving day. that is what they say will be planned. they plan on sleeping elsewhere during the day, coming here at night and staging an ongoing vigil, according to the laws here at parks service that they can abide by. now this deadline also applies to the protesters who are over at freedom plaza, they have had a permit, but it applies to them as well. so at noon they must be moving out as well. this all comes one day after a pro tester here at mcpherson area was tased by police. when police were distributing flyers, police tell us the protester was not compliant with police orders. he later refused treatment at the hospital. so what is next with the occupation? we'll have that part of the

story coming up in my next report in the half hour. thank you, delia. later this morning we are expected to learn more about the murder of lenwood harris. a body was identified as his. harris was last seen in september leaving the recreation center in old town. last thursday an anonymous tip led police to the well. an autopsy revealed the 53-year-old harris had been murdered. police have photos of someone using his credit card hours after he disappeared. one day later his cell phone was found on the wilson bridge and his car was located in october in prince george's county. lenny harris was president of operation hope a community- based nonprofit organization. police are piecing together the events which left two people dead and a third victim in the crash of 400 block of taylor

street northeast. police were originally called to the 700 block of otis street northwest. witnesses reported gunfire and people shooting from a minivan. officers spotted the minivan and pursued the vehicle to taylor street. the driver's of the minivan lost control and hit a tree. two officers coming in the opposite direction stopped when they saw the minivan hit the tree. the minivan bounced off the tree and started tumbling toward them. it then land odd top of the police cruise and slid off. telepeople inside the van were thrown from the vehicle. a 19-year-old and another man died. a 17-year-old is in critical condition. the two officers were taken to the hospital, but they are expected to be okay. >> republican presidential candidates mitt romney and newt gingrich continued courting voters in florida today ahead of tomorrow's critical primary. with several polls showing romney comfortably in the lead, rick santorum and ron paul have

all but conceded the top spot. paul has no planned events today. santorum cancelled campaign stops in florida sunday to stay with his young daughter who was hospitalized with pneumonia. it is 5:05 and i am watching your money. laugh week on wall street, ended on a down note, but january has been looking good. the dow gained about 4% and the nasdaq has done even better, experts predict a good year for technology stocks. to better compete, companies now need to invest in tech. the dow is at 12606. dropped 70 points in trading friday. nasdaq up by 11. members of congress are cracking down on themselves, hoping to regain some of the public trust. they are planning tougher penalties for insider trading. a vote today can clear the way for another new requirement.

forecast. right now monika is in talking traffic. >> reporter: a live look in rockville on route 28. right near shady grove hospital. everything nice and clear here. no problems on route 55 in from frederick as well. we'll go into virginia. at 5:10, parts of a major florida highway remain close this had morning following a deadly pile up south of gainsville. at least ten people were killed and 18 others injured on interstate 75 early sunday morning. authorities say dense fog and heavy smoke from a brush fire blinded drivers, causing more than 70 vehicles to crash into each other. police are looking into whether the blaze was the work of an arsonist. police say they don't know why the driver of an suv ignored a downed crossing arm and flashing lights and drove the vehicle into the path of an oncoming train in sacramento, california. three people were killed,

including a 21-month-old boy whether the vehicle was struck. seven people aboard the train were injured in this wreck. the nfc struck first but receiver brandon marshall's performance helped the nfc to come away with a 53-49 victory. marshall is the first player in proball lift to catch four touchdown passes. ben roethlisberger phillip rivers and andy dalton each threw for two do you understand for the afc. aaron rogers, drew brees and cam newton did the same for the nfc. be careful what you like through facebook. we are back with that story and your weather first in less than three minutes. stay with us.

their identity and facebook accounts. you notice an intriguing post on your page that a friend supposedly likes and sent to you. it looks genuine. but it is actually a bogus type of spam that takes to you online surveys or projects. this company is misleading you, the user, the consumer, into thinking that you are getting a message from a friend. and in fact, that is an advertisement, the company luehrs you into giving your personal information and ordering products it never intends to send. then it goes a step further by sending similar like messages supposedly to you from all of your friends. that is a scam. facebook is devising a fix, but admits it is difficult to stay ahead of internet scams. >> it is truly an arms race and often legal action trails sex following. >> reporter: legal experts say facebook users are especially

vulnerable because they are likely to trust a message they think came from a friend. >> trust your instrirchghts. if it doesn't look like the way a friend would send it to you, they don't have any introductory language, you might want to check with them before clicking. the washington state attorney general's office says it doesn't know how many people have been victims of this type of scam. it is 5:21. we want to take another look at our question of the day, which is an overwhelming majority of women say it is okay to tell your husband this. but it is not okay if the roles were reversed. a, your outfit doesn't look good. b, you've gained weight. or c, it's okay, he is just a friend. here are the responses you posted on our facebook fan page. i'm with mow wells here. she wrote has a tough one. oh d, all of the above. >> log on and leave your

your timesaver traffic in a second. we begin with howard and your weather first. >> reporter: a good day ahead. sunshine, dry, temperatures in the 40s. a little bit of a wind chill this morning. some spots down in the low to mid-20s. generally this has been a very mild and not so rough winter. we have temperatures this morning some spots 35 under dc. 31 by noon. by 5:00 a temperature of 44. last night a quick moving system moved through, had a little burst of rain and snow here. coming right across the region, this thing scooted out of here. we cleared out overnight. little bit of a breeze dried out a lot of things. if anything is still wet, it could be slick, keep that in mind especially west of town. la are plate ta -- la plate ta

with the lanes open. over into virginia the next time around in my next report. back to you guys. today at noon national park police are expected to begin enforcing a strict no camping rule at both sites of the occupy dc movement i can't the move comes after republican lawmakers question why the protesters have been allowed to live there since october. dealia is live with nor. >> reporter: you had -- delia is live are more. >> reporter: -- live with more. >> reporter: folks with have to move their camping gear out of the park and plaza by noon today. occupiers hearsay this is not the end of the movement however. today's deadline comes after several official complaints by dc's mayor and health director about a rat infestation and health code violations at mcpherson. now congress has forced the national park service to enforce a long standing ban on camping.

at a hearing last week the park services director admitted he has been ignoring the rules to avoid violent arrests. but today he said he will be sending police to remove any and all tents and sleeping gear. some say they will sleep elsewhere during the day so they can maintain a presence at the park during the night. >> this is to let you know what is going to come in the spring and summer. frankly, we are not going away. look at all these people. >> this is where you separate the boys from the men and the girls from the women. so i'm right here. >> reporter: folks are looking forward to it, but hoping if a peaceful transition -- for a peaceful transition when police officers are walking the area of the park. this all comes one day after an unarmed occupier was tased here. yesterday as police were handing out flyers about today's

deadline, police say he didn't comply with the officer's orders. he did not, get any treatment at the hospital, and he is expected to be okay. coming up in a half hour, i'll let you know how we all got to this point today. i'll give you all the details coming up in a half hour. back to you. maryland governor martin o'malley says words of compassion, understanding and justice are needed in the debate over same sex marriage in maryland. a state senate committee is scheduled to present the bill tomorrow. o'malley closed out his remarks at the 24th national conference on lesbian, gay, by sexual and transgender equality by underscoring the need for compassion that the rhetoric in the debate. >> we must also have the

humility and the strength to apologize and to seek forgiveness i can't same sex marriage legislation passed the maryland state senate last year. but stalled in the house of delegates. o'malley is making the measure a priority this section. same sex marriage opponents are promising to fight the bill. if approved, it would make maryland the seventh state in the country to allow gay and his lesbians the full legal protection of marriage. maryland state police have identified the fourth person killed in a crash along route 50. 55-year-old terry wayne davis was the driver of the car which was headed in the right direction. he was struck by a vehicle going against the flow of traffic. the three people in that car, 18-year-old brianna marie franco. 1-year-old britney ann walk and 18-year-old zachary tyler rose also died in the wreck. investigators are trying to figure out if alcohol or speed employed a role in the crash. maryland's plan to restore

the chesapeake bay is now available for public comment. the state provide aid plan to the environmental protection agency last month. the epa asked all six states in the bay to present plans to clean up the largest estuary. the meetings are being held statewide through march 9th. meetings have been scheduled in chester town, college park, baltimore town and baltimore city. i am watching your money. there is a lot on the docket this week for wall street. including more on facebook's possible ipo. chrysler is expected to announce this week it will hire 1600 workers at a plan in illinois. investors will get market moving reports this week too, including the latest on incomes and spending, consumer confidence, auto sales and the biggie on friday, the government's monthly unemployment report. economists think employers added 120,000 jobs this month and the

unemployment rate held steady at 8.5%. late night shoppers will no longer see those friendly greeters at wal-mart stores. the company is eliminating the overnight greeting shift in order to save money. wal-mart plans to put those employees to work stocking shelves or staffed at other positions during busier shopping times. there is more trouble for hostess. the bankrupt maker for twirchg kids and other baked goods is asking to cut obligations to its work force. it says it is the only way it can stay in business. coming up a choice a rising number of women are making. to deliver their children in the comfort of their own home. a new study suggests many of us aren't making sure every kid in our car is in a booster seat. that and we'll be back in two minutes with your weather first.

recertainchers found obese people are at a higher risk at developing back problems. weight is only part of the reason why. they believe chronic inflammation from fat cells may play a role in disk degeneration. more women are choosing to have their babies at home. research from the cdc shows home births increased 29% from 2004 to 2009. now the data doesn't explain the increase, but experts believe personal reference plays a role along with lower costs. even with the increase, home births are still rare and account for less than 1% of all deliveries. a new study finds 30% of parents don't require a booster seat when their child is part of a car pool. doctors say that decision could be dangerous. because adult seat belts do not work as well on small children. most state laws require booster seats until kids are eight years old. let's see who is celebrating a birthday today.

through the great lakes. snow lovers, the jet stream way north. we are getting these clipper systems, about you they are pass -- but they are passing north of us. that doesn't provide the opportunity for the cold air to stay. futurecast this afternoon, could be a few clouds come through north and north west. but generally a sunny day. maybe a passing cloud overnight and you start tomorrow morning sunshine. we get sunshine all day on tuesday with the exception of a late cloud possible central and south. then by wednesday, there comes a front out ahead of it. notice the rain showers in southern highway highway wednesday morning. they may sneak into western maryland, wednesday morning. by afternoon and evening you'll notice some of these showers, especially north and west. that is why wednesday, even though it is another mild day, we have to introduce the threat to those rain showers. today seasonably chilly in the mid-40s, which is still a

14th street bridge. if you are planning to take public transportation, good news for you as well. metro mark, everything running on time. it is still winner but the district's possible lar summer jobs program is now accepting applications. city residents between the ages of 14 and 21 have often lined up for a shot at the number of limited openings. they started accepting applications last week. positions with the six week paid program will be handed out on a first come first served basis. dc fire and safe way teamed up in georgetown this weekend to help keep local residents safe and healthy. the event was a community wellness and safety fair. one of the things we'd like to do was make sure we have a safe and healthy community. to give us an opportunity to perform some cpr instructions. do blood pressure and glucose
