out of work residents in the state and her unemployment benefits run out the end of the month. greer's home is in foreclosure. she declared bankruptcy just last week. do you think any of the candidates understand the problems you've gone through? >> no. i truly don't think so. reporter: as for whether any candidate will help make her situation better, greer says don't bet on it. bigad shaban, cbs news, las vegas, nevada. newt gingrich may not get donald trump's endorsement but seems to have his eyes on some other star power. he told a radio show he thinks brad pitt should play him in a movie. the candidate admitted the two don't really look alike. so far pitt has not said anything about the comment. log onto our wusa9 facebook page and let us know who you think should play gingrich if there ever is a movie about him. president obama this morning attended the national prayer breakfast. the event is hosted by lawmakers from both parties and is generally nonpartisan, but this morning the president told

attendees his faith does influence his economic policies. >> we leave our values at the door, we abandon much of the moral glue that has held our nation together for centuries and allowed us to become somewhat more perfect a union. >> the keynote speaker was christian author eric mctaxis who spoke at length against abortion. that speech came as we get new information about the rift between planned parenthood and the susan g. komen for the cure breast cancer foundation. today we learned komen's top public health official resigned in protest of the board's decision to cut off funding to planned parenthood. the atlantic report molly williams said she felt it was a mistake for the organization to bow to political pressure and compromise its mission. komen had supplied about $600,000 a year to planned parenthood to pay for breast cancer screenings for poor women.

tonight police have a second person under arrest in the murder of an alexandria activist. 20-year-old ivan newman of waldorf now charged with killing lenny harris, the 53- year-old man missing since september and his body was found a week ago at the bottom of a well in prince george's county. another suspect linwood johnson was picked up tuesday. police say they do expect to arrest several more people in this case. sex charges tonight against a montgomery county teacher and coach. police say scott spear twice had sexual intercourse with a 16-year-old girl that he had both taught and coached. he's a teacher at julius west middle school and a track and basketball coach at richard montgomery high. that girl apparently told somebody. they told the cops and police arrested spear today at his home in rockville. heavy security at a southeast washington d.c. school this afternoon after a little girl was assaulted inside the building yesterday. reporter: i'm scott broom outside the ketcham elementary

school in south east washington where police chief cathy lanier today provide additional details about the sexual assault of a child. >> there was an adult male who entered the school i believe asked to spike to stun in the school and was given an -- to speak to someone in the school and was given an escort and during the course of that escort inappropriately touched a female student. reporter: beyond that officials are saying nothing. parents complain there's not even been a note home explaining the situation. meanwhile police and security officers kept watch at ketcham today. >> they're continuing to do interviews this morning. reporter: chief lanier said additional interviews and investigations are not complete. parents and neighbors said they are shocked. >> i feel like when you have an institution where you don't have someone stand being at the door waiting to escort a person back, a child is very vulnerable. reporter: in southeast washington, scott broom, 9 news now. on capitol hill the house passed a bill that would freeze the wages of federal workers through next year, but this would not apply to military

personnel. supporters say the bill would save taxpayers $26 billion if it's any consolation to you federal workers, that bill would also block members of congress from giving themselves a pay raise. it is illegal for federal employees to buy or sell stock based on inside information, but the senate appears ready to pass a bill that would toughen those regulations. it would formally ban members of congress and the executive branch from making stock traileds based on information they received during the course of their normal work in washington and it would require lawmakers and their aides to report any market transactions they make within 30 days. talk about an airport security patdown, police say a tsa worker stole $5,000 from a passenger's jacket. they say it happened last night at york york's kennedy airport. investigators say surveillance video choses the employee snatching the cash as the jacket rolls along a security conveyor built. the employee then heads into a restroom. after that there's a bit of a

mystery. you see, police are still trying to find the stolen money. southwestern pennsylvania was the place to be this morning for one of the hottest parties of the year. this was the buildup as folks waited to find out if the famous groundhog would see his shadow, otherwise known as punxsutawney phil. >> as i look at the crowd on gobbler's knob, many shadows do i see. six more weeks of winter it must be. >> look at that little guy. but with the winter we've had so far, can you really complain about punxsutawney's prediction? >> you really can't. 72 yesterday, 58 today. you need a light jacket if you're headed out. let's talk about phil for just a minute. this is the 126th groundhog day. he's only not seen his shadow 15 times, so he's only declared early spring 15 times. so odds are he's always going to see his shadow and say hey,

tonight police are releasing the footage caught on tape in december, deadly metrobus accident in rockville. wow, 10 people including the bus driver were injured when that pickup hit the bus head on. the truck driver, 49-year-old nicono edor of silver spring died. police still don't know why his truck crossed the median.

it has not been the best couple weeks for metrorail. riders have been delayed by cracked rails three times in the last two weeks. >> as our delia goncalves reports, the problem has gotten worse in the last three years of. reporter: we're at the scene of a major rail break and huge delay last week. lots of passengers are telling us they do indeed see this problem getting worse. the clunk of a broken rail never a good sign. that cracked rail caused major delays on the red line last week and another this week at rosslyn. >> it's affected me several times in the last few weeks and i know they've got their problems, but it seems like they should be able to keep it running, especially with all the maintenance they're doing on the weekends of. reporter: according to the latest metro numbers, the trend is worsening. in 2009 19 rails cracked, in 2010 33 and last year 49. >> it seems that the repairs are getting longer, they're

getting worse and it seems that they're getting overwhelmed. reporter: metro is on track to repair the problem in a $5 billion program, but that will likely take five years. the 106-mile rail system is aging, nearly 30 years old in some parts. that's part of the reason why metro proposed rate hikes for passengers to fund some of these much needed improvements to an old system they inherited. >> i think it's outrageous that they're talking about a rate hike for us. >> i'd like to see some improvements first with the money i'm paying. reporter: metro says they're working on the issues, but in the meantime the best recourse for commuters, to sign up for metro text alerts on your phone so you can get a heads up if and when the next break occurs. outside tenleytown metro station delia goncalves, 9 news now. >> metro's third problem came monday night on the blue and orange lines at stadium armory station. crews got that problem repaired while the system was closed overnight.

an update tonight on one local chef's efforts to make sure people know about a new speed camera in d.c. we told you last week about chef geoff's campaign for this speed camera along foxhall road. he's gotten three tickets, so he was going to hire somebody to stand by near the camera with a sign warning and today we found this guy. yup, a sign spinner standing by the side of the road letting people know what was coming and police chief cathy lanier says she doesn't have a problem with it. >> because we want to have them slow down up there where the lanes merge down to a single lane where the residents have recentedly complained. i'm all for it. >> the -- repeatedly complained. i'm all for it. >> the chief says 11,000 tickets were issued in the first month alone. a commute pear letter as crews do work on the dulles

metrorail project. the ramp from southbound route 123 to the inner loop of the beltway will close at 9:30 and the crews will work on the overhead bridge. the cramp is expected to be back open -- the ramp is expected to be back open tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. if you like to joke that the i-95 in delaware is always under construction, it is. here's some confirmation that anita and topper are right, a new project getting underway to widen the interstate at the route 2902 or should that be 202? i think that's 20 works guys, yup, 202 interchange. the $26.6 billion project is designed to cut back on backups during the rush hour and lower the southbound side of i-95. >> doesn't of it does feel like you're always stuck in -- it does feel like you're always stuck in delaware. >> until that's done it's going to create havoc. >> maybe you could try and go at off peak times. >> we lost 14 degrees, oh, my,
