expired grant to planned parenthood, which was used to provide mammograms to women. komen says the move was not political, but was because planned parenthood is under investigation. this morning's statement says -- must be criminal and conclusive in nature. on any given night in our ear, word of an underaged drinking party is just a police radio call away. 9 wants you to know it's getting worse. and the kids drinking are younger. over the last two months andrea learned firsthand by working closely with montgomery county police. >> reporter: we were riding with police when officers received a reported of teenagers drinking insides a bethesda home. after words of in party spread on facebook, within a matter of

hours it had spiraled out of control. >> we took off. >> when we arrived with police, teenagers scattered. running from all sides of the house. and bounding down the stairs of a balcony. >> hey, everybody! pay attention! it's everybody clear now? is everybody understand what happens when you run from me or any other officer. >> yes. >> lay down! relax. gets up again, i'll put you down again! >> what appears to be blood on the stairs is a crushed pomegranate. but teenaged girls with miniskirts and mascara stained faces start to cry and scream. >> everybody chill out. everybody shut up! if i tell you to call your mom and dad you'll call your mom and dad. >> this is an underaged party. it happened in bethesda, and involved students from walt whitman high school. but it could have unraveled in

any suburban neighborhood where an unexpecting parent is out of town or leafs an empty house and an unsupervised teenager. >> you know how many other crimes are occurring right now in the county in this area that we could be dealing with? and yet we're dealing with 70, 80, 90 juveniles who decided to get high and drink. >> police handcuffed teens that attempted to flee and lined them up amount the curb. some are belligerent, combative. they are venom in some cases directed at us. >> [bleep]. >> stand up. stand up. you got a charge for -- >> a defiant teenage girl criticizes police for sending so many officers to respond to an underaged party. >> so when your house is prone in in a couple weeks you can blame it on underaged drink party because officers aren't there as quickly as you want them to be. >> the smell of marijuana fills the air. roughly 80 teenagers left the

house in shambles. >> it looked like it was ransacked. >> police issued 35 alcohol citations. >> empty liquor bottles, beer cans, we found some drug paraphrenalia. >> most of the party-goers are 16 years old. five years from the legal age. >> do you have the ability to put into a gps to get here to take custody of your daughter? >> this is my second one. >> a night of chaos gets more interesting when parents come to pick up their children. a few simply hug their sobbing daughters. but many more mouth off at police, threaten lawsuits, and question that their children were doing anything illegal. >> she can't get a party here. she was drinking. >> you saw her drinking? >> no, but she took a preliminary breath test and blew .19. >> all right. >> alcohol in her system, admitted to it. there's also drugs inside the

house. >> some refuse to give there are identity. many parents arrive angry, not at their intoxicated children but at police, and on this night at us. >> hide the camera st. >> they're with us, ma'am. >> i was told they're with the news. >> they are with the news. they're with us. >> only one mother appears furious at her son. >> you cannot do this! you that? she makes him apologize to every police officer on the scene. >> you're welcome. >> one parent actually asked me if this bust was a joke. and another party, a father asked his child right in front of police, why didn't you run? and like you, i have covered way too many car crashes where kids have been drinking and they are either killed or seriously injured, and i personally could not cover or not interview another set of grieving parents without all of us trying to do something to help keep our kids alive. and if you have a tip or want

girls. they drink so much to the point of alcohol poisoning, so their friends have to get an ambulance and haul them off to the e.r. >> all right. you have another report tonight. okay. on 9news now at 11. thank you, andrea. >> you bet. >> for that report. this afternoon the illegal immigrant convicted of killing a northern virginia nun and drinking under influence crash will learn his punishment. a judge will sentence carlos montano, convicted last fall of felony murder. in august 2010 crash in bristow. he had two prior dui convictions when he slammed no a car carrying three nuns. sister denise was killed, the other two nuns suffered serious injuries. montano could be sentenced up to 70 years in jail. a second man has been arrested in the murder of alexandria activist lenny harris. police announced the arrest of

20-year-old ivan newman of maryland yesterday. harris' body was found last weekend at the bottom of a well in fort washington. police say harris was shot to death around the same time he disappeared last september. investigators say they expect to make more arrests. doctors were unable to save the life of a transgendered woman who was stabbed last night in northeast washington. police say a man dressed as a woman had an altercation with another man on east capitol street, and the second man stabbed the victim in the head. there's no word yet on the victim's identity. a fire forced more than 20 people out of their homes early this morning. it started overnight on sixth street and n street northwest. dc fire association reports on twitter that the fire began on the first floor. more than 60 firefighters responded. one person was treated for

smoke inhalation. in the last 30 minutes, president obama unveiled details of a program to help more veterans find jobs. the president spoke in arlington, virginia at fire station five on south hayes street. the white house plans to call for $5 billion in grants and incentives to help veterans get jobs as police officers and firefighters. the white house also aims to create a veterans job corps conservation program to help restore our great outdoors. the white house can also celebrate the latest jobs report that was released this morning. the labor department says unemployment dropped to 8.3%. 12.8million americans were out of work last month, and that's

compared to 13.9 million in january. and companies added 243,000 jobs during the month of january. all right. let's check campaign 2012. with tomorrow's republican caucus in nevada, after his victory in florida's primary, mitt romney has a chance to get back-to-back wins for the first time. a poll of likely caucus-goers shows 45% are backing romney. 25% support newt gingrich. and 11% support rick santorum. 9% are for ron paul. about one in 10 voters remains undecided. and romney got a surprise endorsement yesterday after numerous reports that he would actually support newt gingrich. billionaire businessman donald trump threw his support to the former massachusetts governor. the real estate mogul had also flirted with running for the presidential race, but possibly

as an independent candidate. it's no joke, roseanne barr is running for president. she wants the nomination of the green party. barr's best known for her sitcom in the 1990s. she now runs a macadamia farm in hawaii. the green party will hold its convention in baltimore in july. denver is getting pounded by snow today. some of us may get just a little bit of snow for the weekend. we'll have the full forecast just ahead! and before sunday's super bowl, there's a beauty bowl today on the doctors. we have a little preview for you coming up.

look at the warmth coming up there. that's where a storm system is and you can see what's going on. in vendean very, volcano it's snowing at the rate of 3 inches an hour in the mountains. they've had heavy snows, moderate rains. missouri all the way down to the gulf coast. the moisture is headed towards us. so over the weekend what we're going to watch the moisture get here probably tomorrow night into sunday morning, that's cold flow. light northerly winds. it will be borderline cold enough that we'll get some snow overnight saturday night into the morning hours on sunday. clouds thicken by midday saturday, especially west. so we start sunny in the morning, finish cloudy. here comes the moisture. tough to tell if it's further north. we could have more snow up north into sunday morning. and potentially some spots especially north and northwest of town could pick up an inch or two, maybe more than that on the millions. of course topper tonight at 5, will keep you. dated on over the weekend. 53 today. tonight in the 30s.
