band. but look not too far south and east look at the thunderstorms. i mean, it's very much like a march storm or an april storm because look how warm the atmosphere is. it's raining up in chicago. normally in mid-february, we would think if it's snowing in chicago, maybe even st. louis. no, instead thunderstorms in st. louis and snow back in through kansas, back to north plat and back into nebraska and snowing a little bit in eastern colorado. but look at the storms going through st. louis and running through sections of arkansas. the same section is heading our way and as far north as the moisture is, it's going to dive back to the south and to the east as we go through the next 24 hours. temperatures it's getting colder. 28 in manassas. 40 downtown. 32 already in gaithersburg, 30 in frederick and 32 in leesburg. we'll come back and tell you where accumulation will occur tomorrow night and sunday morning. >> thank you, top. it cost a dc police sergeant her job and time in prison. she ripped off an elderly woman for more than $40,000.

>> gary nurenberg reports that cop was assigned to help this woman and use the opportunity to steal from her instead. >> reporter: the 86-year-old learned about police officers from her father. >> he was a police officer in chicago. i used to go down and see him and he put me on his horse. >> reporter: she called police when she expected her bank of america accounts had been targeted by crooks. a sergeant was assigned from the second district in northwest. >> she knocked on my door and came in and sat down and introduced herself to me. and i went and got her a glass of cranberry juice. >> reporter: leaving financial documents exposed without worry. >> for a police officer, i expected her to be honest. >> reporter: aisha hackley forged signatures to herself on checks more than 40 grand.

police also found checks in hackley-jackson's prince county home. >> here she is a police officer and the mother of some children, and you think your mother is an example. and i just thought it was terrible that she would be that kind of an example to her children. >> reporter: the dc police chief said this is a great example of our police officers policing themselves and mpd officers tip to the joint investigation. the daughter of that chicago cop learned as a child. >> you shouldn't be telling lies. that's dishonest. but certainly in terms of ripping people off. and of all people to do it, the people that are supposed to be protecting you. to me that's the worst crime. it's the more serious crime. >> reporter: the sergeant hackley pleaded guy , resigned and was sentenced today to 1 and a half years prison. we wanted to know if they will

pay pension. they said i cannot discuss personnel matters, but there is no prohibition of a member leaving the department and getting a deferred annuity. and awena mcdonald tonight, she's still a believer. i trust the police. just because they had a dishonest one, i don't believe every policeman is dishonest. after all, we need the police very badly. anita. new, rescue crews had to pull a man from underneath a plane. this happened around 6:00 p.m. in everett. for some reason, a boeing employee became trapped under the right wing landing gear of a japan airline 787 dream liner. emergency crews medivacced the victim to the hospital. claim your cash is back on 9 news now. so take a look at the bottom of your screen. and if you see your name or perhaps the name of someone you know, that means you or they have got some money or valuables

party. the standoff continues between ok ok occupiers and park police. they stay awake obeying orders not to sleep, their existence is a day-to-day basis. >> nobody knows. what it has done to us is make us a lot more vigilant. we're not as laid off. >> there is tension here in the movement every night. >> reporter: protestors say it's hard to tell how much longer it will last. but one thing that is certain is a sense of trouble among occupiers that has set in. >> all good things do come to an end. i feel like because of congress and the injunctions that have been put in place, we aren't going to be here forever. >> reporter: for now the dreams which was stretched around the mcphearson statue stays up. it's the latest action to defy orders of police. >> we had somewhat of a victory on monday where park police said they were going to come in and tear down the tarp.

made. they've also identified the victim. 23-year-old japarker jones of northeast dc. they do not know if it was a hate crime. tonight women's health groups are applauding a change of policy. komen faced a fire storm of criticism this week after it said it would stop funding breast cancer screenings for low income women, screenings provided by planned parenthood. it was simply following a policy of not funding agencies under investigation. and planned parenthood has come under scrutiny by congress over whether it used federal funds to pay for abortions. but an investigation must be conclusive. criminal in nature and not politically motivated before it will pull funding. >> we know that the inquiry in congress is a politically motivated one. and actually this funding from komen has absolutely nothing to do with abortion. it has to do with early screening for breast cancer. >> the komen organization has

apologized for the debacle involving planned parenthood. the dc school system now says there was a break down in security at a school where a girl was allegedly sexually assaulted. earlier this week, a man spoke with the school aid about picking up a student. the aid recognized the man and assigned a girl to lead him to a classroom through the hallways. that girl now says that man touched her in an inappropriate way. the cool system says it was wrong -- school system says it was wrong for the student to be assigned to escort him through the building and security should be present at the school entrance at all times. it was judgment day in a high profile deadly drunk driving case in prince williams county, and today a judge sentenced carlos montano for the murder of a nun. he was drunk when he hit a car carrying the nun and two others.

federal authorities say the 24-year-old is an illegal immigrant who had been convicted of drunking driving twice before but somehow never deported. state sanctioned discrimination, that's what critics are calling a bill that sailed through virginia's house of delegates. that would let private adoption agencies turn down people trying to adopt a child if they don't approve of their religious or moral beliefs. the state senate could vote on its version of the bill next week and governor bob mcdonald says he would sign the legislation. it protects religious freedom. in the meantime, parents are pulling their kids out of a los angeles elementary school after police arrested a second teacher this week there for child abuse. they arrested martin springer for lewd acts with two 7-year-old girls. he had pictures of children blindfolded with duct tape over their mouth. a parent is concerned two of her children had contact with burnt,

including one daughter with special needs. >> she refuses to come to school, which i don't blame her. she had been using the restroom on herself, having nightmares. she is not stressing everyone. i'm even having nightmares. i'm so betrayed by everyone. it's a horrific situation. >> a case against burnt was dropped in the early 90s because of lack of evidence. now with the arrest of a second teacher, police say their investigation into the school has a long way to go. well, by this time tomorrow night, we will know for sure who won nevada. the majority of the voters will caucus starting at 9:00 a.m., and the results will start showing up at 5:00 p.m. it happened to be the same day unemployment rates dropped to their lowest level in three years. however, the gop candidates say president obama had little to do with the brightening economic picture. >> the intention of raising revenue to catch up with obama's

>> green food, yeah. >> yum. >> tough crowd. all right. we have the storm heading in here from the plains, but it looked less impressive than it did five hours ago. let's look outside. it's really nice outside. it's kind of chilly but it's not that cold considering it's still early february. dew point 28. pressure falling just a little bit. 30.4 inches of mercury. winds south, southeast at about 3. all right. satellite picture, radar combined. it's a pretty impressive storm right now anyway. still snowing pretty heavily in the plain states and back into eastern colorado. it was never a rocky mountain storm. and look at the thunderstorms just hammering oklahoma, arkansas and missouri. just bears repeating against it's like a spring storm. like an april storm or march storm where you have some snow and all this tremendous energy and convection and thunderstorms ahead of it. now, we're looking at high clouds moving in. most of the rain is still back into ohio. so we're okay through the night.

i think we're okay through tomorrow morning. after that, some light rain will be developing from west to east. and we lowered temperatures a little bit because of the cloud cover. dry most of saturday. light rain saturday night. may mix north and west of town. i mean north and west of town. north of frederick and north of leesburg. especially up near the maryland-pa border and by dawn on sunday. we might see a few wet flakes early sunday. 5:00 or 6:00. i think the sunshine is going to be out. we'll salvage a pretty nice sunday. partly cloudy and chilly by late morning. how much snow is going to fall? earlier we had maybe an inch or a half an inch up near frederick. it looks like all of the snow is going to stay back in the mountains and the lions share of the snow will stay on the other side of the divide down into the canadian valley. so some good news for skiers in that regard. increasing high clouds overnight. kind of cold. 1-2 blanket night. lows in the 30s. wind out of the southwest by 10.

by morning thickening cloudiness and chilly. like jacket needed. winds southwest at 10. and then by afternoon, mostly cloudy and chilly. some light rain possible by evening. 44-49 with light winds. we dropped temps a little bit and if you live in culpeper it's going to rain before you move to bowie. it's going to move from west to east. let's break it down. by noon mostly cloudy with temps in the 40s. by evening light rain. 44-49. so just a little chilly. now, the next three days, a little bit of wet snow possible overnight saturday into sunday. but partly cloudy on sunday. pretty nice. high temps upper 40s. monday sunshine. we're back in the mid 50s. can you believe it? next seven days we're in pretty good shape. even on tuesday we're back near 50. a little colder on wednesday. we're holding around 40. but then as the case has been all winter, we go back up to 50 on thursday and friday. maybe some rain this time next week. >> okay. >> all right. >> thank you. dave is around with sports. we'll be back in a minute.

mccarren's series of reports detailing just how serious the problem of underage drinking in our area can be. but tonight derek finds something else even more shocking. >> it is the reaction to the stories, anita. while many have congratulated andrea on doing powerful journalism, many others have been enraged. did andrea make a mistake? report something untrue? no, they're just mad because andrea mccarren told the truth about their kids boozing it up way too young. and now she's on the bad end of some nasty e-mails and perhaps worst. now, as for the angry teenagers, i get it, you want to drink alcohol and all you can see is some nose ee reporter messing up your fun. honestly, if i was 16, i might feel that way too. but did you see the parent's reaction when the cops broke up the drunken's teenage party and andrea's story when the home was trashed. many seemed more angry with the police when raiding the place.
