harris atm card just hours after harris disappeared last year. robbery was the motive for the crime. lewis was already behind bars on an unrelated car theft charge. the announcement of the third arrest comes the same day as harris' funeral. they're still looking for the person who made the anonymous phone call which led to the discovery of the body in a washington well. a former of university lacrosse player accused of killing his ex-girlfriend has pleaded not guilty in the case. george huguely is accused of beating 22-year-old yeardley love to death. she played on the women's lacrosse team. he kicked in the bedroom door and shook her which caused her head to hit the wall several times. he faces charges including first-degree murder and grand larceny for allegedly taken love's computer. the trial of a political operative accused of trying to suppress the black vote during maryland's 2010 gubernatorial

election has begun. julia tennyson was a campaign consultant for governor bob ehrlich. he told votetories relax. -- [indiscernible] can mitt romney maintain his momentum or will it be another big surprise in the republican primary season? voters will be weighing in in minnesota, missouri and colorado today. all three states hold what are called nominating contests but no delegates are up for grabs. >> polls show governor romney ahead in colorado but rick santorum holds the lead in minnesota and he has a chance of beating romney in missouri where newt gingrich isn't even on the ballot. >> reporter: a crowd of about 3,000 cheered mitt romney in colorado monday night just hours before that state's caucuses. >> that is quite a welcome. >> reporter: romney is the favorite to win the state.

he blasted the president's health care plan which requires church operated hospitals and clinics to provide birth control and morning after pills to their employees. >> this is a violation of conscience. we must have a president who is willing to protect america's first right, a right to worship god according to the dictates of our own conscience. >> reporter: he campaigned in minnesota monday night. he took aim at the president's extension of unemployment benefits which can be claimed for 99 weeks. >> 99 weeks is long enough to get an associate degree. think about how many million people under the obama model have been paid to do nothing, to waste their life for 99 weeks. >> reporter: rick santorum is looking to minnesota to give him his first win since the iowa caucuses more than a month ago. santorum spoke at a colorado energy summit monday and criticized the obama's views on fossil fuels. >>it's one of our greatest assets that we have hundreds of

years of coal, well over a hundred years of oil and probably a couple hundred years and we don't even know yet how much gas we have. and the president does not look at that as an asset for our country. >> reporter: ron paul also campaigned in minnesota hoping to make that state his first victory. the lawsuit over virginia's republican presidential primary ballot is over now. newt gingrich asked the judge to drop his name from the lawsuit. he was the last of the four plaintiffs to do that. gingrich, rick santorum, john huntsman and hick we arey -- rick perry all sued to get their names on the ballot. in other election news in virginia, the state senate passed voter i.d. bill. the state senators were split right down the middle along party lines and lieutenant governor bill bolling cast the decisive vote to pass the bill. it requires voters to bring an i.d.

to the polls or cast only a provisional ballot. the bill now heads to the house of delegates which passed a similar version last week. the white house has closed the embassy in damascus and recalled all its diplomats from syria. the move by the u.s. is a diplomatic protest against the violent crackdown on desent by the regime of the president assad. more than 5400 people have been killed since the uprising began 11 months ago. another diplomatic showdown is taking place just south of syria in egypt. egyptian military rulers say they plan to prosecute 19 americans, including the son of transportation secretary ray lahood. sam lahood heads the egypt office for the international republican institute. he is among 43 people accused in an investigation of the funding of pro-democracy groups. >> these americans have done absolutely nothing wrong. they do what american and international workers do in various parts of the world

which is to support democratic development and civil society. >> the u.s. is warning egypt's military government that the billion and a half dollars it had earmarked for egypt could be withheld if the investigation isn't quickly resolved. 4:36 now. here's a look at some of the other things making news this morning. more gruesome details emerging about the deaths of two young boys in washington state. they were killed in a house fire. authorities say their fire josh powell had been planning to set the fire for some time. smoke inhalation was the primary cause of death for powell and his two sons but investigators say the boys also suffered severe chopping to their heads and their necks. powell is also a person of interest in the disappearance of his wife susan powell who vanished in utah in 2009. a federal judge has ordered jarrett loughner to spend four more months in a psychiatric hospital. he's the accused gunman in the arizona shooting which killed six people. loughner is being forced -- is

being forcibly medicated in order to make him competent to stand trial. the death toll stands at 43 now after a powerful earthquake in central philippines. 29 people are still missing and roughly a hundred others are injured. the magnitude 6.8 quake hit a mountain village there and many people got trapped in landslides. bridges to the area are severely damaged making rescue missions very difficult. our time is 4:37. at 4:41 with the second super bowl win behind him, eli manning is on pace to become the face of several products. 4:50, the vending machines at a local university don't just dispense soda and snacks. they also dispense the morning after pill. we're back in two minutes with your weather first. you're watching 9news now.

they -- euro zone. they miss add deadline with creditors that would have allowed it to receive more bailout loans and it could default in weeks. wall street did not like the news but finish the dow stands -- but finished the day with the dow slipping 27 points. nasdaq was off by almost 4 points. more than 40 states have signed on to a nationwide settlement over foreclosure abuses. the deal would force the five largest mortgage lenders to reduce loans for about a medical households who are behind on their payments and owe more than their homes are worth. remaining holdout states could sign on to a deal in the coming days. the lenders would also send checks for about $2,000 to hundreds who lost their homes to foreclosure. two-time super bowl champ eli manning may have scored both on and off the field. advertising experts say manning's big win over the patriots sunday will make him even more valuable as a pitch

good morning. welcome back to nine nine now. 4:-- to 9news now. 4:45 this tuesday morning. another nice day. >> it's a little chilly. 45. >> isn't that the normal high? >> it is the normal high. we'll recover this afternoon, maybe low to mid-50s. today is the easy day. tomorrow will get a little more interesting as we have a system coming which will bring some snow flakes to the area and minor consume layings but i'm thinking generally grassy services. let's start with first things first. clear to partly cloudy skies. temperatures are a big range. the sunrise at 7:09. sets at about 5:35. so the day planner another mostly sunny day. 49 by noon if not low 50s. at 4:00 53.

we'll see highs today somewhere 53, 55 in that range. by 8:00 p.m. we're still generally clear and 45. it's going to be after midnight when the clouds start to move. then tomorrow, well, it's going to be cloudy and a much different day. nice again today as we look at the weather headline. light snow and rain tomorrow. when i -- that's southeast. we're talking southern maryland, st. mary's county, fredricksburg. you're likely to stay wet tomorrow but the rest of us north and d.c. seeing light snow. roads mainly wet. they're warm from the last couple of days and even temperatures tomorrow afternoon in spite of the fact i think there will be snow around we'll likely be in the mid and upper 30s for the afternoon when it's snowing. right now a trace to an inch. maybe a little more than that north and west. this is going to be not a system to knock our socks off but given this winter's lack of snow, it will be something to talk about. 40 degrees this morning in leesburg. it's 30 in manassas and culpeper. gaithersburg up to frederick

45. in southern maryland we've got some temps in the low 40s there. upper 30s in the shenandoah valley. looking on our michael & son weather camera, no problems. good visibility in washington although the airport on the hour reported a couple of clouds with a light wind at 3 miles an hour making us feel like it's 44. so that windchill really not out there. here it is right in the middle of the country, you see this system coming through the central plains. a little bit of snow for denver and up toward areas in southern nebraska, northwestern kansas. this is moving generally eastward with the rains going down into texas. in front of it high pressure. that's why we're going to have a nice day today but we're going to keep our eyes to the west because that system arrives toward tomorrow morning midday. first things first. sunshine today. temperatures low to mid-50s. we'll watch the clouds increase out west as we head into the overnight period. they roll toward us by tomorrow morning. tomorrow don't expect to see a lot of sunshine, even in the morning. then by the middle of the day, i stop the clock at noon. you see the blue areas.

this is all snow north and west but generally light snow. with temperatures probably 35 to 40 or so, i think a lot of this will be melting on the road surfaces and maybe sticking a little bit on the grassy surfaces. you'll notice the green off to the south. that's rain in southern maryland. even by 6:45 tomorrow evening still dealing with some of that snow. so i don't think we're going to see a lot but it's going to be around and trace to an inch, maybe inch and a half in spots north and west not out of the question. so breaking down the forecast. we've got temperatures in the low 50s today. maybe 55. tomorrow 39 with the snow developing. some rain south and east. trace to an inch. maybe an inch and a half north and west. mainly grassy surfaces. thursday we're back to 47. then we turn colder. it will feel like winter for a couple of days around here. by sunday and monday highs in the mid up toker 30s. it's 4:-- mid- to upper 30s. it's 4:48. here's monika looking sharp in that jacket. >> thank you very much. everything looking great on the roads. no problems for report.

where you see the triangles it's just that overnight construction which should be clearing up on the west side of town. coming in from the north from baltimore all the way into college park you're fine. no problems on the bw parkway. inside and outside of the beltway, cheverly. on the south side of town here's what it looks like near route 5, branch avenue and again as you head through this area on the inner loop toward andrews air force base and over into the oxon hill and the will con bridge all lanes are open. -- wellson bridge all lanes are open. i-70 out of frederick everything is incident free through the main corridor and down to the point where the lanes divide. we'll take a live look as well here in damascus on main street at ridge road. nice and quiet here and along route 355 as well headed for the beltway. coming up in my next report into virginia at 4:556789 back to you -- at 4:55. back to you. the virginia state senate has passed the repeal of a law

allowing people to only carry one gun at a time. they say it's no longer needed because gun laws have proved effective. a virginia state senate committee has pass add bill which would make texting or e- mailing while driving a primary offense in virginia. it's currently only a secondary offense. that means police must have other reasons to stop a driver. the sponsor of the bill democrat george barker of fairfax points to a big jump in traffic accidents blamed on people texting behind the wheel. a warning if you plan on driving through bowie. some new speed cameras are thousand in place at benjamin tasker middle school. they're located near the intersection of fair lane. drivers who go 20 miles an hour over the speed limit will get a ticket. you can get almost anything from a vending machine these days, even emergency contraceptives. in pennsylvania, students can get plan b from a vending machine insides the campus health center. anyone 17 or older can legally

buy the morning after pill over the counter without a prescription. the university pays $25 for each dose and passes the full cost on to the student. they say the use -- they use the machines for privacy reasons. there's a new warning about a possible side effect from a breast cancer drug. doctors at university health network in toronto found this drug can cause significant bone loss in menopausal women. women are advised to undergo regular bone monitoring. the american college of physicians has new guidelines to treat type ii diabetes. the acp says the drug is the most effective choice to reduce blood sugar levels. it also reduces body weight and improves cholesterol. medications should only be used when lifestyle changes such as diet and exercise and weight loss don't work. the national park service is banning together with some
