cloudy conditions where you see the blue is the light snow. i forward this into tomorrow afternoon, tomorrow everyoning. it's the timing of the snow that could be falling around the evening rush hour commute and looking at basically gaithersburg, leesburg, frederick seeing light snowfalling. points south and east of town, most of this to be rain for you. around the district, some could be changing into a mix and over to snow by tomorrow night. accumulations not a whole lot expected, but around the grassy surfaces, untreated roads, and also some of the bridges and overpasses can be slick later tomorrow. so for tonight, expecting partly cloudy and chilly conditions, becoming mostly cloudy. lows 30 to 35 degrees. we'll talk more about that snow and much colder air coming in. more details in your seven-day forecast a little bit later. derek, back to you. >> opening statements tomorrow in the uva lacrosse murder trial. it's been nearly two years now since george huguely from a

wealthy chevy chase family allegedly admitted to beating his exboyfriend. but bruce leshan tells us, he denies he did anything to kill her. >> the judge here now tantalizingly close to seating a jury. about 30 jurors have now said to the judge that they are at least open to the defense explanation of this case. the george huguely may have beaten yeardley love. but that she died actually from something else. from a fatal combination of aderol and alcohol. the question not asked in that much detail, but that was the principle. we actually talked to one of the rejected jurors. a guy that has to drive a school bus and deliver pizza to pay the bills. he said after sitting in the jury room, he is actually now more convinced that huguely is guilty. >> you think you could have been an unbias juror? >> for the initial

questionnaire, i had not. but between then and now, i think i would have gotten myself dismissed. >> what is that? >> i think he is probably guilty. >> college drunkenness, domestic violence, lacrosse privilege and private schools, this case has drawn national attention to this small town. which maybe one reason it is taking so long to seat this jury. but tomorrow, we may finally get to opening statements. in charlottesville, bruce leshan, 9news now. >> tonight, police in prince georges county want to know if two of their own officers made up their side of the story after a shooting with two suspected robbers friday night. >> i'm scott broom in brentwood, where the surveillance video of this police shooting incident does not line up with the report the officers gave after the incident friday night. the lowest price gas station and convenience store. on rhode island avenue at brentwood. an officer fired a shot during

a confrontation with two suspected robbers, including 19- year-old ryan keith dorm, a convicted felon, who was arrested that night and accused of trying to grab an officer's gun. no one was hit by the shot that was fired, but the confrontation was caught on surveillance video. which apparently tells a very different story. >> we have given that video. we presented that to the state's attorney office and they are reviewing it. i don't want to affect, that is a criminal investigation. i don't want to affect that investigation at this time. >> only one of the two officers involved has been named. corporal donald taylor, a 13- year-old veteran, who was assigned to a task force on the lookout for trouble. while the investigation against the police officers unfold, the prince georges county state's attorney office has dropped charges against the robbery suspect. in brentwood, scott broom, 9news now. >> two people were shot and killed in the span of an hour and prince georges county police tried to figure out if

those two are connected. christopher donald smith was found dead around 10:45 in new carolton. a few blocks away, county fire officials found the body of 23- year-old edward thompson jr. he was found lying near a bicycle. you know you heard that old saying, love will find a way. tonight the way is through a federal appeals court. that court ruled that california's ban on same sex marriage is unconstitutional. for four months, gay marriage was legal in california and an estimated 18,000 couples tied the knott. but the voters put a stop to that when they passed proposition number eight. now the court says prop 8 violates the civil rights of gay and lesbian couples. >> i'm over joyed. we already knew in our hearts that proposition eight violates the law of love. >> however, this fight is far from over. the sponsors vow to appeal.

that is until the legal battle plays out. >> another top official at the susan g. komen for the cure has stepped down over the controversy surrounding the organization's funding of planned parenthood. karen handle resigned as the vice president for public policy. she stepped down to allow the organization to move forward. sources tell the associated press handle was the driving force for the decision. >> and just a couple of hours now, votedders in colorado and minnesota will caucus and make their pick for the republican presidential nomination. the four candidates are battling for a total of 70 delegates tonight and everyone not named mitt romney is just trying to close the gap a bit. the former massachusetts governor holds a big lead in the delegate count with 85 so far. that is 30 more than newt gingrich. rick santorum and ron paul combined. now those three are trying to portray themselves as the antiromney. >> i will never match governor

romney in the amount of money he can raise. i can match the number of people who are going to go out, we'll have far more people who will help us. >> you have an opportunity to reset this race. you have an opportunity to put the best person forward to beat barack obama. >> the 70 delegates up for grabs tonight are the largest total yet in the race. missouri holds its primary tonight, but it's a beauty contest, meaning they will not dole out their 52 delegates until they have their own caucuses next month. 9 wants you to know that since we have been reported on under age drinking, montgomery county today announced an important new initiative. the department of liquor control would check calendars to every establishment in the county with a liquor license. that will make it a lot easier to determine quickly the age of a purchaser. those calendars are free of charge to all license businesses that sell alcohol. and coming up tonight at 11:00, we'll show you the harsh reality of a life that began

stop a driver. a similar bill died in committee this year. donald trump is coming right here to washington, d.c. the federal government selected him to redevelop the old post office pavilion. trump will con convert the building into a hotel and spa and conference facilities. the old post office was built in 1899 to house the u.s. post office headquarters, but now the building has a food court and a few shops catered to tourists. the general services administration says trump will preserve the historic features of the building. coming up, an entire family overcome by carbon monoxide rushed and air lifted to the hospital. but first, poker on the pennsylvania potomac. more than a few slots. details of that idea are coming your way in just minutes.

would you believe casino gambling right along the potomac river? it could happen. the maryland state senate is considering a bill that would allow construction of a casino at the national harbor in oxen hill. and folks, we aren't just talking slots, but blackjack and roulette. voters would have the final say at the ballot box. >> a crushing blow. that's how maryland controller characterized the economic effects of raising the state's gasoline tax. governor martin o'malley's

huge crowds greeted the super bowl champ new york giants today. the new york city honored the gmen with a parade through the canyon of heros on broadway. that culminated with the team getting symbolic keys to the city on the steps of city hall. the giants, of course, beat the new england patriots, 21-17 sunday in super bowl xlvi. home schooled kids in

virginia may soon have the opportunity to play high school sports. tim tebow bill passed on a voice vote in the house of delegates. that would allow home schooled kids to play on varsity teams and named after tim tebow who was home schooled, but played football at a public high school in florida. the house will cast a final vote on the measure tomorrow. should states let home schooled kids play sports in public schools they don't attend? the parents pay the same taxes as the parents of kids who attend public schools or could this cause recruiting and corruption in high school sports? weigh in, in mcginty's mail bag. the address is mailbag@wusa9.com. recovering after being overcome by carbon monoxide. they were found unconscious this morning inside their home in the 8300 block in fort washington. peggy fox has the incredible chain of events that led to

their rescue. >> my family, you know, six of them. >> this was the scene in fort washington at around 1:00 this morning. two adults and three children are air lifted to baltimore shock trauma for treatment in a hyperbaric chamber. narrowly escaping death from carbon monoxide poisoning. >> they took readings and discovered 450 parts per million of carbon monoxide. now anything over five parts per million is considered unhealthy. initially you'll start feeling flu-like symptoms. headaches, nausea, dizziness, and if not removed from that environment, you will eventually die. >> the first event that saved the family was their two-year- old son, falling out of his bed at 9:30 last night. his parents thought he was having a seizure and they called 911. >> because carbon monoxide is colorless and odorless, the paramedic who's came for the boy had no idea the levels were

so dangerously high inside. it wasn't until three hours later when the doctor at children's figured it out. as we discovered other family members were not responding, it became something clear it was in the environment that was affecting them. we gave them the concern that it was probably carbon monoxide poisoning. they pulled the other family members out of the home. >> a few more hours before fatal injuries would have occurred. >> peggy fox, 9news now. >> if we get snow tomorrow, d.c. homeowners will not have to worry about fines for not shoveling their sidewalks. the city council hag tabled has tabled a bill. right now, the only way someone can be penalized is if they go to court for a ruling. today marks the second time in the month that they tabled the bill. the good news s the snow tomorrow may not need shoveling. >> yeah, i was just thinking, you aren't going to have that

much to shovel. more of a timing that will cause people to be concerned about this snowstorm coming in. we're talking about some accumulation, maybe a trace around d.c. up to half an inch. one inch could be in isolated spots. overall, the higher amounts, maybe 2, 3 inches. here's a look at our michael and son weather camera. we are looking at clear skies right now with a few clouds moving in and temperatures are really nice. got into the mid 50s around downtown. we have cooled down to 49 now at this hour. clear skies, winds are out of the north at 6 miles per hour. we will see increasing clouds coming this way ahead of our next weather maker, which we're talking snow. here's a look at our national satellite and radar pictures. zooming in to around st. louis and into parts of nashville where we're looking at this area of low pressure. we'll draw in moisture from this for tomorrow. we could probably see some snow and also some rain out toward the bay.

right now, temperatures 43 in gaithersburg. 45 in leesburg. lower 40s in hagerstown. culpeper in the mid 40s. annapolis, coming in at 48 degrees. so, we have some changes coming this way. a touch of winter. increasing clouds for tonight. wednesday's morning commute is going to be fine. as for the afternoon, light snow developing and some rain south and east of us. the critical time for the snow potential is from 4:00 until 9:00. just in time for the everyoning commute. here's a look at the future cast. we start this tomorrow morning, cloudy conditions. the blue, that is the light snow out in the mountains. the blue comes in closer from the west by wednesday afternoon. leesburg, gaithersburg, frederick, even manassas. you could see some light snow developing. this snow does come into the district area, potentially by the evening hour at 7:00. you see points south and east, we see the green. that is the light rain. also mix as well of rain and some snow. maybe sleet. now accumulation not a whole

the kids have been late for school dozens of times. michelle says tardiness is never a good thing which can trend into their later years. they should work on time management. many other parents that can feed their children breakfast, dress them, and send them to school on time. it's a disruption when a late one comes in. and offering this advice. go to bed earlier, get up earlier. and set an example for your kids. maybe someone else can raise them better. three tardies would have been shameful. this isridiculous. parents should join the rest of society where the world does not revolve around them. and similar sentiments. their children are more important than everyone else. good luck in college and at a real job. maybe they should home school and make their own schedule.
