conference. his son, senator ran paul spoke on his behalf on thursday. danielle nottingham, back to you. >> thank you danielle. before heading to sea-tac, he spent the morning speaking to a technology council. new information about the funding battle between a prominent breast cancer charity and planned parenthood. speaking out for the first time since resigning from susan g. komen for the cure. the organization's former vice president tells the daily beast the two groups came to an agreement in december about funding, but then planned parenthood broke the deal for its own political purposes. a planned parenthood spokesperson denies the group organized any sort of campaign against komen. >> well today, president obama announced a compromise on the new rules covering contraception. >> women will still have access to free preventive care that includes contraceptive services no matter where they

work. that core principle remains. but, if a woman's employer is a charity or hospital that has a religious objection to providing contraceptive services as part of their health plan, the insurance company, not the hospital, not the charity, will be required to reach out and offer the woman contraceptive carefree of charge. without copays and without hassles. >> the government is still facing three lawsuits on the contraception rules by groups that say this compromise doesn't go far enough to address their concerns about religious freedom. >> 9news now uncovered new information in yesterday's deadly police shooting that left a 54-year-old woman dead in culpeper. >> i'm peggy fox in culpeper, where an eyewitness to a fatal police shooting is contradicting what state police are saying about the investigation and why the officer fired. >> his hand on the door handle. i remember distinctly because hands are close together.

which chris says he saw a culpeper town police officer shoot 54-year-old patricia cook to death in this church parking lot yesterday morning. cook was in her jeep wrangler. state police say cook rolled up the window catching the officer's arm inside and dragged him. it didn't happen that way. >> he was right next to the vehicle. he had one hand on the door handle and one hand on his weapon. she was rolling the window up and they were exiting out of the parking lot. the window was half way up. he said stop or i'll shoot. didn't think he was going to do it, but she got the window all the way up and that's when he shot and she took a left out of the parking lot here and he stepped out in the street and fired five more times. >> michelle says the officer was not dragged. he couldn't have had his arm caught because he fired through the glass. >> i'm angry, i'm frustrated. i'm sad. i'm fighting back tears right now. >> in culpeper, 9news now. >> tears as well in a

charlottesville courtroom as george huguely taped his statement. bruce leshan is live outside the courthouse, yet another dramatic day of testimony. huh bruce? >> it was definitely a dramatic day, anita, and george huguely was not the only one crying. yeardley love's mother appeared to be crying, as one of the jurors. we also got our first look today at yeardley love's bedroom door. the one george huguely allegedly kicked in. >> a crime scene investigator unwrapped the vinyl door and unveiled a huge hole. next to the knob. huguely kicked the door in to get at yeardley and left his dna behind. it was not the door that had yeardley love's family.

detectives at first did not tell the former uva lacrosse player that his exgirlfriend was dead. huguely told police he went to yeardley's apartment just to talk. but he says she started screaming and hitting her head against the wall. she was like a fish out of water. i grabbed her and shook her. but i never struck her or hit her or anything. we were wrestling. she may have had a bloody nose. i tossed her on the bed. i may have grabbed her neck, but i never strangled her. then the detectives told huguely that yeardley love was dead. did you hit her head into the wall? did you crack it? no, you guys said she had a black eye and a bump on the head. huguely starts sobbing. she's not dead. i didn't. i did not. you're lying. i never did anything that could do that to her. >> now the tape puts huguely's

>> you hit the cone. so you might have bumped a car. >> you need to know how to parallel park. >> i live on a residential, with cars coming on a one-way street. if someone is having a difficult time parking, everyone has to wait. >> they don't have enough space on their lots to give the test. in northeast washington, scott broom, 9news now. >> a high speed police chase ended in a ball of fire and with a serial robbery suspect behind bars. it started in maryland and ended up in northeast d.c. kristin fisher has the latest from the scene of the crash. >> this car chase lasted for 45 minutes. it all ended right here when the car spun out of control and then slammed into this tree. you can still see pieces of this car everywhere. here's part of the hub cap. then, the car caught fire and you can see that the flames went all the way up 20 feet

high. >> we thought it was going to blow up. >> davis and her daughter hid behind a bush in their front yard and watched. firefighters were trying to put out the car fire while police were handcuffing the serial robbery suspect inside. 19-year-old marquis hunter. >> it's crazy. i saw thousands of police cars everywhere. >> it all started an hour earlier. a gas station robbery. >> officers observed a vehicle that was involved in numerous robberies here along the d.c., maryland line. >> when detectives approached, hunter fled. leading d.c., prince georges county, and u.s. park police on a high speed chase into the district. at one point, hunter rammed into one of those cruisers, sending the officer to the hospital with minor injuries. then, hunter rammed into this tree so hard that the air bags deployed. >> the police officers had to break their window with the crow bar. >> hunter was taken away in an ambulance. he's already been charged with unauthorized use of the

radar combined. here's all the moisture. the frontal boundary, the arctic front is well to the west of us in the midwest. if two things coming our way. area of low pressure will develop and skirt the coast as we go through tonight and tomorrow. that will give us moisture and really, this cold air comes flying in tomorrow afternoon and that will give us another chance for some snow showers. that's the upper level energy. but it can be intense sometimes and very cold atmosphere. can't hold much moisture, but it will squeeze everything out. where is the arctic air now? it's 7 in bismarc. only 19 in chicago. so, you can see detroit still 32 and st. louis is 30. it's west of detroit and west of st. louis. but this is where the core of the arctic air is. it's going to be cold. some of the coldest air we have seen this season. especially on sunday. temperatures again, okay. 43 in bethesda. 43 in great falls. and 43 in springfield.

that's why we aren't that concerned with roads. that said, temperatures upper montgomery county, upper 30s, and some snow is mixing in. fort valley, which is south of front royal, they are reporting snow as well. snow in hagerstown. after midnight, roads will be bad from frederick north and west. arctic air, roads okay in the metro area. but slick up north and west and 1 to 2 inches tomorrow night. even downtown, windchills tomorrow night 5 to 15. so, here's the future cast. we'll put this into motion. by 10:30. most of the activity to the north. that's all snow. then it does turn to snow as we get into saturday morning and into southern maryland. maybe not st. mary's county, but charles county. another batch of snow showers move in during the evening with the front itself and that could lay down the 1 to 2 inches and it could look interesting for a while and tomorrow night if you're headed out, the roads could be slick. next seven days. in the wake of that, we're looking at temperatures struggling to get back to the

freezing mark on sunday and then we look at low 40s on monday and light snow on tuesday. at this point, not a huge deal. and maybe some light snow next friday, but again, not a huge deal either. so no problems tonight. tomorrow night, downtown, take it easy. >> okay, we'll do that. thanks, top. >> we're back with sports in just a moment.
