upper 30s to near 40. we'll hit the mid to upper 40s with a 5:00 p.m. semture sunrise just after 7:00 this morning. quite a storm coming in toward the middle of the country. this is going to drop some rain and snow toward us. most of that is going to be north and west of dc. we have a 16 in manassas, 17 in la plata. 28 in winchester this morning. across the bay cambridge 27. highs under sunshine about 46 in town. low 40s off to our north. upper 40s, maybe even near 50 as we head into tomorrow and again on wednesday. more on that coming up in a few. here's monika. >> reporter: things are looking great on the beltway as you can see all the green right now which means no major problems and most of your construction zones have been cleared up.

coming in from frederick severing fine. we'll take a live look outside right now. in the heart of bethesda here at old georgetown road in arlington. you can see nobody is there. we'll go back over to the maps and this time to the quay and route 50, both incident free inside the beltway. looks grade in from annapolis. -- great in from annapolis. as you head on the inner loop past andrews air force base. all lanes are open. mike and understand drey a? -- and andrea? it started with a deadly shooting. one person, jordan howl, was -- howell, was killed. the worst, however, happened after howe's funeral when four people mourning him were shot to death as well.

five men charged in this case will go on trial today. wow, this is amazing delia. >> reporter: you know those five men were all arrested soon after the shooting. police say that was vital to stop this kind of retaliatory try shooting from happening in southeast washington. the men will be tried together. they face an additional 30 charges against them, that ended with the blood bath on south capital street. the shooting brought the city to its knees. it was the single deadliest shooting in two decades in the district of columbia. nine people were injured, four killed. now the men police say are responsible face a total of 54 counts against them. prosecutors describe the shooting spree that lasted eight days, starting with the murder of jordan howe, over an alleged

stolen bracelet. back here, live outside the court, we can tell you jury selection is expected to last two days. the trial expected to last two months. these men face lifetimes in prison without the possibility of parole. coming up in my next live report in a half hour, i'll tell you what the city's response and what one victim's mother's response was to this violence. coming up in a half hour. back to you. thank you delia with that update. a woman from burke, virginia recovering after a terrifying ordeal that could have killed her. a tree fell on her home yesterday as high winds howled warned the washington area. the woman and her husband were trapped for nearly two hours. >> it landed on her. i don't like to use the word luck, i try to just say they

were blessed, that they didn't have any more injuries. >> look at what is left of that house. although he was trapped if a time, too, the husband was not injured. the impact of the tree striking the house, however, knocked it partially off the foundation and now the house has been condemned. one firefighter was hurt last night in northwest washington. he was responding to the two-alarm fire in the 4100 block of massachusetts avenue. investigators say it was an apartment kitchen fire which was quickly brought under control. we are told the firefighter was treated at the scene. the virginia department of transportation is investigating what caused a 30-foot sign to collapse on to i-66. a sign fell saturday afternoon. it hit a pickup truck. luckily no one was injured. just about 5 minutes after 5:00. time now for the latest your money report this morning.

>> reporter: jessica doyle is here with a look ahead at the day on wall street. the word again is greece? >> again our fate is riding in the hands of greece. the reason why wall street continues to monitor the situation, they are following the worst sell off of the year due to greece on friday. so far today asian stocks rose after the greek parliament approved a new set of austerity measures. the measures led to rioting in greece overnight with at least 41 buildings burned. let's take a look at stocks, checking the numbers. the dow stands at 12,801. dropped 89 points friday. it's been just a few days since new mortgage relief for struggling homeowners was announced. the phones are ringing off the hook. on the first day, consumer protection agents fielded more than 500 phone calls. maryland is getting nearly a

georgia avenue, no problems through silver spring. in my next report wet's go back into virginia. mike and andrea? thanks monika. mitt romney claimed two victories, romney also won the maine caucuses, winning 11 delegates. now the candidates have two weeks until the contest in arizona and michigan on february 28. today the man accused of killing a maryland state police trooper is scheduled to go on trial. he is accused of killing 22-year-old trooper wesley brown. brown lived in sea pleasant maryland. prosecutors say williams shot brown after brown escorted him out of the restaurant for being disorderly. nearly two years ago,

family and friends were mourning one murder victim when gunmen opened fire outside a home, four more people were dead when 9news stopped. delia is live outside dc superior court, where five defendants go on trial today. >> reporter: it is rare for five defendants in one murder case to appear before one judge in a single trial. but indeed, that is what will happen in court today. the jury begins their selection process a little later this morning. the trial is expected to last two whole months. now prosecutors say they have built a very strong case against these men. they now have 54 charges against the five men, including conspiracy and assault with intent to kill. prosecutors say the south capital street shooting ended their eight-day shooting spree. that injured nine people and killed four, including

16-year-old row shell -- ray shell jones. the council member's bill calls for increased counseling services for children and their parents inside some of the southeast schools that surround that area. including that measure to address problems that exist in the area. coming up more in the half hour, i'll tell you a bit more about that capital street shooting. some of it the dangerous weapons that they used in that deadly massacre that happened two years ago. we are live outside of the courthouse this morning. back to you. thank you delia. a second week of testimony starts today in the trial of a former university of virginia lacrosse player accused of killing his ex-girlfriend.

prosecutors played the interrogation video of george hugeley friday. he said he went to yardley love's apartment, just to talk. but she started screaming and hitting her head against the wall. when police tell him she is dead, hugeley sobs and repeatedly denies it. after being postponed last week, today the man who killed his boss in a suburban hospital will be sentenced. keith little was found guilty in december. little's supervise year was roosevelt baracking ham, jr. little stabbed him in 2011. during little's trial it came out he had been acquitted in the 2003 murder of another coworker. a bill to legalize same sex marriage in the state is being debated now. friday governor o'malley

testified in favor of the bill. he says the bill would give gay couples equal rights, while not imposing on religious practices. some church leaders spoke forcefully in favor of the bill. today is the last day for virginia residents to register to vote in the primary. you need to register before 4:30 this afternoon, if you mail your registration, it has to be postmarked with today's date. march 6 is super tuesday. breaking down the president's budget. >> that's right. this is likely to set off yet another political fight in the race. later today the president will send congress a new budget. it will lay out tax hikes as well as government cuts. the budget looks to cut of the

deficit by $4 trillion over the next decade. those savings would be from higher taxes on the rich. at the same time president obama wants to boost spending in key areas such as transportation and education. raising taxes on the wealthy, if that sounds familiar to you, that is because this proposal is. many of the 2013 proposals have appeared in every single budget. one addition here is called the buffett rule, it aims to make sure those making more than a million dollars pay at least 30% in taxes. the white house will propose reducing the value of itemized reductions of individuals making more than $200,000 a year and couples making more than $250,000. obviously we have gotten a pretty good look at what this budget proposal already looks
