the negotiations are getting closer and closer. a new poll shows mitt romney no longer the front runner for the republican presidential nomination. that title for now, at least, belongs to rick santorum. the former pennsylvania senator leads romney by 3 points in the latest "new york times" poll. ron paul comes in third. newt gingrich is dead last. his momentum could be built to last. arizona and michigan are the next two states up and recent polls show santorum leading in the great lakes state. >> he may actually win michigan and what does that do to the romney campaign? it's hard to say, but it's not good. >> it's not good for romney. now, this new poll shows the race is far from over. 60% of those surveyed said it's too early to decide who they will support. >> was it an accidental death or was it murder? forensic ebbs experts were

testifying that the injuries to yeardley love's brain were caused by trauma and a sudden snapping of her head. not by cpr. bruce leshan with all the details from the courthouse. >> a bad day for huguely's defense as two neuropathologists agreed on the subtle brain injuries that they say killed yeardley love. both describe small bruises and bleeding all over the lacrosse player's brain. christine fuller said there were bruises in the middle crania on both sides of her head. she said they were consistent with either a fall from a height or a punch to the head. particularly if the punch was into a wall or the floor. but she said those injuries were too minor to kill her. instead, both pathologists describe bruising and bleeding they found in love's brain stem. the area of the brain that controls your breathing and

your heartbeat. they said they were caused by a sudden snapping of her head. a twisting motion with sudden acceleration and deceleration. huguely's lawyers forced the pathologist to admit they had no idea how much force would be required, but investigators believe huguely slammed love's head against the floor or the wall of her bedroom. doctor beatrice said it showed the injury was inflicted at least two hours before she died alone in her room with no one to help her. bruce leshan, 9news now. >> and the pathologist managed to cut a big hole in the defense theory that her injuries may have been caused by cpr. no indication of a recognizable sign of what's called reprofusion. that would be the rush of blood back into brain cells that are starved for oxygen. tonight, new information on a police involved shooting that

is generating a lot of questions for most of you. as we reported, a culpeper town police officer shot and killed 54-year-old patricia cook in a parking lot. the police say that the officer's arm had been caught in the front window of cook's jeep and shooting in self- defense as she was attempting to drive away. but an eyewitness says the officer's arm was not caught in the window and now we learned from the spokesperson the officer had not turned on his blue light because if he had, it would have been a sign that he was detaining the person. that according to attorney and former fairfax county police officer, ted sibert. if the person is not being detained, she should be free to leave. >> what is he investigating? suspicious person, then he doesn't have justification to use force to maintain the contact. if a person wants to roll the window up, they can. he can't be sticking his hand in the window.

he can't pull somebody out of the car. >> he believes the police may have used excessive force and looking into hiring an attorney. this case is still under investigation. well anyone caught driving drunk in virginia could soon have to install an ignition interlock on their car. the current state law requires that device only for repeat offenders or anyone caught with a .15 or higher blood alcohol level. requiring it for every drunken driver no matter what their level and a similar bill has passed the house of delegates. >> we are all familiar with tailgating. friends and family getting together in a parking lot, they share drinks, foods, perhaps alcoholic beverages. 9 wants you to know, teenagers have a whole new take on tailgating. they call it pregaming and it's happening in parks, houses, and as we discover it, in public parking lots. >> teenagers and young adults who get intoxicated or high

well. last week, tommy jordan posted this video on youtube. it's shooting his daughter's laptop. he did it to teach his daughter a lesson after she was complaining about her chores. since then, the police say they have gotten calls about this one from all over the world. >> some people saying finally, a parent is doing something to take control and then on the other side, you have people saying, you know, absolutely not. this is crossing the line. >> well some have demanded that police move in for an arrest, but they say he has broken no laws. the video has been watched 23 million times on youtube. apparently it is not illegal to shoot down your computer. a colorado man spent seven hours in jail all because his dog didn't have a license. matthew town send lived just outside denver and recently his daughter's service got out and picked up by animal control. since it wasn't licensed, he got a $50 ticket.

national. down over 8. in philadelphia under 4 inches. they are down 10 inches. only 5 inches in new york. they are down a foot. in boston, only 7.8 inches so far. they are down 19 inches to date. now burlingtom had 27 inches, but that's half of what they should have. and if you have been to vermont, there's not much snow on the ground at all. here's a live look at the weather cam. there's the capital. temperatures are not exactly tanking. in fact, 50 downtown with clouds. winds out of the south at 6. those winds will change and become northwesterly and breezy after midnight. satellite picture, radar combined. here's what is left of our system. it does not have a lot of moisture. most of which is headed up into pennsylvania and northeast maryland and that is about it. we'll keep the chance for a shower in, but most of the sprinkles are going to be in the mountains and most are beginning to exit into the del

so happy she did that. we've been married for 8 years. kathy wood said she met her hubby in an online chat room and after that, it got complicated. i thought what a sweet and well mannered man. he was from texas and i thought, not a cowboy fan. well, god had something else in mind and we clicked. he is still a cowboys fan and i'm a redskins fan and we do not watch football for the sake of our marriage. we have been married for four years and he is a saint. as he helps take care of my mom that has alzheimer's. his patience and love is a gift from love. i met my valentine in my dorm lounge on the first day freshman year of college. we began as just friends and have been married for almost 34 years. still best friends. and jennifer finally with proof that love really can come driving up to your front door. i was hitchhiking through quantico 32 years ago when he picked me up and dropped me off at my work. he would always give me a ride
