>> like once. >> and then the threats started. >> she says she has been stunned and heart broken to find herself subjected to online name calling to foul for tv and threats that the cops took so seriously, they posted a police car in front of her home all weekend long. >> and now with media around the world buzzing over the reports, we bring local parents to the next frightening chapter 9 wants you to know. here is the startling trend, police say it's no longer unusual to see breathalyzer teenagers blow .20 or higher. >> that is more than two times the legal limit. what is happening around the corner from your house. >> reporter: it is happening everywhere, yet so many local parents think bad things simply cannot happen to their good kids. tonight, a look at the

realities of destructionive teenage behavior from some of the people who know it best. >> reporter: for many police officer, there are images they find hard to forget. for this police officer, it was an underage drink party on new year's eve. >> i see a female passed out on a bed in vomit, clothes mangled and condoms around her. >> reporter: the teenager had been sexually assaulted. police called the homeowners. >> we notified the parents and we need them to come and take care of their child. and they said, we can't come, we're at a new year's eve party. >> reporter: they told police they could come in a few hours when their party was over. >> they were upset that we were disturbing their plans for the night. >> seven out of ten teenagers feel it's okay to have sex with somebody passed out. that's rape. >> the girl had to be

transported to the hospital because she could not be left alone. >> now all of a sudden, you have people dosing girls to the point where we want you to get to the point where you're about to pass out or pass out and that way we're going all going to have sex with you. >> reporter: gang rape? >> yes. that's it. >> blood alcohol content is the worst thing now is just unbelievable. they should be dead. >> please, please, oh my god. >> reporter: in recent months, he has personally watched as three teenage girls were each transported to the hospital with alcohol poisoning. the oldest was 16. >> it's scary. we need parents, i mean, they have forgotten that their kids can die. it's hard to get the attention of the parents until a police officer comes to the door and say their child was killed in an alcohol related tragedy. >> reporter: he knows what it

drinking have generated. that's at 7:30 tomorrow on cbs this morning. now to the late breaking news out of baltimore, a semi- truck carrying ink has flipped over on 95 and it has shut down the entire interstate. look at the mess on the highway. this is down to i-895 below. we don't have word yet on injuries, but the traffic is expected to be blocked for hours. we will bring you an update as soon as we know more. and the traffic is moving along 95 in prince georges county after a freak accident turned the interstate into a parking lot. it seems a flock of dead birds was behind the grid lock. we have to tell you, some of the video in the story is graphic. >> reporter: it was right around 2:15 this morning when dozens of dead birds crashed onto 95 northbound just north of the exit for the inner county connector.

we know that they were starlings and we think we know what killed them. >> reporter: scores of dead birds by the side of the road tell the story of an unusual happening today on i-95. >> they move in one large mass. >> reporter: according to the department of natural resources, as many as 200 starlings were perched on power lines near 95 when they suddenly started flying down toward the road. >> they probably got together, formed a flock and flying around and probably ran into a tractor-trailer on the side. >> reporter: though it doesn't happen often, it's not unheard of for large numbers of birds to be killed at once. ten years ago, hundreds were electrocuted and about a thousand people lost electricity when a power surge went through the lines that the birds were perched on. and today's incident was wasn't the fist time a large number of birds made news. >> it just get dark, pitch black. >> reporter: last month, residents were complaining

about large numbers of starlings and black birds hovering above the neighborhood and leaving their mark below. >> they do what they do. >> reporter: today's flock 5 also left a mark -- flock on 95 also left a mark and left some people saying, they don't just flock together, but sometimes perish together as well. autopsies will be performed on some of the dead birds tomorrow and they should know pretty much right away if they died of blunt force trauma caused by flying into a truck. 9 news now. and while the department of natural resources says they are pretty sure the birds died if flying into the truck, it's possible they died from a disease and that is why they're performing the autopsy. more than 85 students at george washington university have come down with the virus. it's an illness that causes severe vomiting, diarrhea and muscle cramps and it's very

contagious. so far, there's been no link as to why the disease is spreading so widely. but a student and an intern here says she thinks she might have an idea. >> i don't know how i got it, i know being at school, you catch 100 surfaces a day, touching elevators but the sons and desks -- -- elevator buttons and surfaces. >> they plan to step up the sanitation efforts. congress is on track tonight to approve on friday an extension of the payroll tax cuts. looks like the election year deal will cost about $150 billion. >> that is money that would have gone into the social security trust fund. at a time when finances are in peril, is it wise to take that

money away. we looked into the question. >> reporter: forget the partisan work era of 2011 for now, in an election year, politicians are unlikely to raise taxes. >> the only social security trust fund from the real world is congress can borrow from it. >> reporter: even if the pub is worried about social security. >> you have people that they're never going to get the paychecks. that's not true. >> reporter: but under the pending deal, they plan to take money from the general fund and then borrowing to replace that money. >> and now a system that is complicated transfer of money, money under a pea from one place to another, nobody understands it and it's going to hurt confidence more. >> reporter: so short-term,

long-term question. >> the extension itself doesn't hurt, but that doesn't mean the trust fund isn't in trouble. it is. the finances are going broke day by day. >> reporter: a new budget office study projects the social security trust fund will be depleted in 24 years. the fix will likely be unpopular and therefore unlikely in an election year. >> thank you. tomorrow he will be laid to rest. he is the paramedic who died last week suffering a tragic fall while responding to a car fire on 395 in arlington. the visitation for the seven- year veteran of the fire department is about to wrap up in less than an hour. his colleagues are rallying around his grieving family. >> his family is our family. we are doing everything from the upper end, all the departments getting together doing mutual aid. >> that's one of the reasons we're here, to take care of family and make sure that every

need is met. >> his funeral is tomorrow afternoon. all city schools will let out early. and police say commuters, you can expect traffic congestion near king street ask seminary roads during the funeral procession. the murder trial of the former university of virginia lacrosse player accused of killing her. today a doctor testified for the defense saying she could have suffocated while she lay face down in a pillow. but prosecutors argue she died as a result of a beating at the hands of her exboyfriend. it was the worst crash in metro history, two trains colliding, metal and flesh, nine people died. well that was back in june of 09. and now for the first time, metro and the three equipment makers are admitting the crash

was their fault. >> here we waited 2.5 years for them to finally come out and say this. in which we have known since day one. >> reporter: metro has reportedly settle lawsuits in seven of the nine deaths. a spokesman said they'll not have any impact on the operating budget. they have insurance for that sort of thing. the deadly police-involved shooting. that investigation will now have a special prosecutor. back on february 9th, a police officer shot ask killed a 54- year-old. now the cop claims he shot in self-defense after the arm got stuck in the window after she was trying to drive off. still ahead tonight, supermom to the rescue. how she stopped a run away bus from crashing. plus, claim your cash.

determined. a doctor once said f you have a sinus infection, take medicine for seven days and it will get better or wait a week and do nothing and it will be fine. and now a study suggest the latter is true. the study out today, researchers looked at more than 160 people with sinus infections given some antibiotics and the others a placebo. after three day, all patients felt the same, no better or worse. i have to say, i was blown away by the results. and you probably are too. as someone with a lot of sinus infections. most of them are viral in nature so the antibiotics don't work. >> but let's be real, i have been there, it hurts like nothing else. what are you supposed to take? >> well, you saw the desk. this is called a netty pot.
