21 in hagerstown. even manassas feels like 27 degrees. overnight, becoming clear, breezy, and cold. a 1 to 2 blanket night. if you are waking up tomorrow night, bundle up. lots of shine. you will want your sunglasses. temperatures in the 40s by 11:00. andrea will talk about your weekend forecast and a mild warmup coming this way. >> thanks very much. left to die, montgomery county police say a 24-year-old man was hit by a driver who never stopped. and tonight, police need your help in finding whoever killed that pedestrian. it happened near norbec and westberry roads. ken reports from the site of the deadly tragedy. >> unfortunately, we hear of deadly hit-and-run wrecks taking place way too often. now it happened again. the victim, 24-year-old rodriguez of bethesda. he was hit along this road, killed by an on coming car. according to montgomery county police, the 24-year-old had been riding in a car with

friends when he got out of the car along norboc road. according to police, it happened at 2:20 this morning. calls came into 911 for a man lying motionless on the road. when emergency responders got here, rodriguez was already dead. it's believed the hit-and-run driver killed the 24-year-old sometime between 2:20 and 3:24 a.m. on the eastbound lanes. tonight, police need your help in trying to find this hit-and- run driver. asking folks who may have been in this area. they are asking folks if anybody saw anything, they want to talk to you. they need a tip to try and figure out what killed alonzo rodriguez. ken, 9news now. and turning to news overseas a gunman killed two american servicemen inside a government building in cobble. and tonight, pentagon officials say the afghan defense minister called our defense secretary,

leon panetta to apologize for the shooting. the dead are believed to be a colonel and major. violence gripped the country for a fifth day over the burning of the muslim holy book at a nato air base. the taliban is claiming responsibility for the attack inside the interior ministry. >> what we confirm so far is that in the inner city of kab o u, they opened fire on members of the international security assistance source. we can confirm that two personnel were killed in this incident. >> tonight, u.s. officials say a man hunt is underway for that gunman. also, the commander of u.s. and nato forces has recalled coalition military personnel working in afghan ministries. meantime, 22-year-old corporal, p.j. conradt is among the dozens

killed since tuesday when it was first reported that koran's and other religious materials had been thrown into a fire pit used to burn garbage at the airfield. a local marine is among those killed in a deadliest military training aviation incident in years. captain quinn was among seven marines who died in wednesday's crash near the california, arizona border. it happened when two helicopters collided in midair during a training exercise. the 28-year-old marine was the pilot of a chopper that collided with a cobra helicopter. quinn joined the marines in 2006. he twice received the navy and marine corps achievement medal as well as the national service defense and global war on terrorism service medals. >> the man at the center of a 9news now investigation back in march of 2010 has now been sentenced to six years in prison for child molestation. tom my shelton jr -- that's

when a defendant does not admit guilt, but acknowledges there is enough evidence for a conviction. shelton was the pastor of a community church from 1995 to 2000. 9news now interviewed two of his alleged victims who were 8 and 12 years old at the time of the alleged abuse. his arrest raised troubling questions, including why the church brought them to virginia from a congregation in frankfurt, illinois, after multiple allegations of sexual abuse involving boys surfaced there. cleaning crews are giving willow springs elementary school in fairfax county a big scrubdown this weekend. more than 100 students and teachers called in sick on friday after an outbreak of the norovirus. all weekend activities at the school were canceled. crews used a bleak solution to scrub down walls and other surfaces. turning to politics, just

three days now before the michigan and arizona primaries and mitt romney is challenging rick santorum's conservative principals as he campaigns. santorum calls romney's claims, quote, laughable. as danielle nottingham reports from lansing, the current front runners are battling hard in michigan while newt gingrich and ron paul are focused on other states this weekend. >> for mitt romney, michigan is personal. it's where he was born and raised and now looking for another primary win. >> this is a critical time. i think i'm the only guy in this race that will be able to beat barack obama. >> romney also attacked his chief rival, rick santorum, trying to portray as a washington insider with an iffy record. >> is it not time for lifelong policy to explain why they voted for this or that based on what they were asked to do by their fellow colleagues. >> santorum fired back.

lansing, michigan. and again, arizona voters also head to the polls on tuesday. in pakistan, bulldozers began to demolish the compound where osama bin laden was tracked down and killed by u.s. special forces last year. so far, the upper portion of the house has been destroyed. it delayed demolition of the compound until its investigation of the u.s. raid was completed. bin laden was killed when special forces stormed that compound last may. coming up on 9news now, a couple fifth graders are in trouble for allegedly trying to poison their teacher. we'll have details. and d.c. residents come out in force to get help making an upcoming deadline a

centerville this morning. at this time, police are not releasing the baby's name or whether it was a boy or girl. an autopsy is being conducted to determine how that infant died. three california elementary school students are in trouble tonight for allegedly trying to poison their teacher. it happened at phoenix elementary school in fresno, california. authorities say the three fifth graders put rat poison in their teacher's coffee. one of the students reportedly had a change of heart and knocked the coffee cup out of the teacher's hand before she could drink it. the same students later allegedly brought the teacher a cup cake laced with rat poisoning. she never ate it. school officials transferred those three students to a school for troubled children, but some say that isn't enough. >> find out that you can hatch

information on low cost, college tuition planning, and assistance, mortgage help, and credit counseling. metro transit police helped rescue an injured bald eagle in alexandria. the eagle was discovered next to a blue line metro track this afternoon. police and animal control officers rescued the eagle and took it to the rap tear conservancy of virginia. that's where the bird is being treated for a broken wing tonight. coming up, a tornado ripped through virginia not far from virginia beach. we'll show you what happened. also ahead, a blustery saturday night. what should we expect sunday

residents of matthew's, virginia, are spending this weekend cleaning up from a tornado that ripped through the area last night. that area is not far from the norfolk, virginia, beach area. tonight friday night's tornado destroyed a boat house. several downed trees and property damage were also

22 in frederick. still breezy out there. right now, 34 arlington. 33 in bethesda. great falls 34 degrees. but it feels like we're in the 20s in a lot of locations. where temperatures are in the 30s, but you factor in that windchill and it is cold. our satellite radar showing us, we saw some snow earlier this morning from the lake effect snow, kind of trickling down into our area. it didn't amount to a whole lot. a trace at airport. both at reagan national and dulles. sunny and milder for monday. you want your sunglasses, pleasant tuesday. then our next chance for rain, maybe a couple thunderstorms will be middle of the week on wednesday. you will want to locate your umbrellas by then. our future cast, high pressure is in control. maybe a few snow showers out to the far north and west, but overall, lots of sunshine tomorrow. hey, it's not going to be as windy. temperatures will feel better and it looks like monday, we'll be milder into the 60s. so, for your sunday morning, lots of shine.
