12:00 pm
. welcome to the news at noon. we're following breaking news. colts four-time mvp peyton manning is holding a press conference about him being released.
12:01 pm
there's a possibility he may end up with the redskins. let's listen in. >> i think, you know, in that vein as well, the 18 jersey will never be worn again by a colt on the field. this process has been a long, difficult process. i know peyton and i have had numerous conversations over the months, and we always kept trying to come back to the circumstances that were before us. we tried to put each other in each other's shoes and tried to realize what the situation was for the franchise, what it was for peyton. in the end those circumstances
12:02 pm
were too difficult to overcome, circumstances that dictated to us, to the franchise that really were unavoidable. it's something whereas we're going forward and being a rebuilding team with salary cap problems and peyton is on the mend to try to resume his career, we both wanted to be together. you know, it's been very difficult and just tearing at our hearts to try to look at the situation and find the best solution. i think peyton has been completely unselfished in terms of looking at what the
12:03 pm
franchise, where it was at and where we're at at this point. i tried to -- -- i tried to put myself in peyton's situation as well. in the end before we ever got into any specifics, it's never been about money. it's never been about those types of things. it's really to be blessed here today to have gone through the experiences we have together as an owner and having peyton as a friend and a player and all the things that we've been through. it's an incredible blessing. as difficult as this day is, it's made difficult because of the greatness in the things peyton has done for our city, for our state, for our franchise. there will be no other peyton
12:04 pm
manning. that's something that in a special place and a special time over the last decade and a half we've been so blessed to have him. the good times we've had together, the last we shared together -- you know, growing up together in the organization, when a 37-year- old owner met 22-year-old player coming out of tennessee and the dreams that we had and the experience are just beyond my imagination. as difficult as this is, i know that our journey together hasn't ended. it's really just begun. when i look down the road and see the many decades going
12:05 pm
forward that we'll share together and how he's always part of the horseshoe. it's something where, you know, i can't thank him enough. i think when i look back and reflect on everything that's happened, you know, whenever we went on the road, the circus was coming into town. peyton was the ring leader. the memories that we have and the great people we've been blessed around i'll always treasure. i just want to turn it over to peyton now to say a few more words. >> thank you, jim. i sure have loved playing football for the indianapolis
12:06 pm
colts. for 14 wonderful years the only professional football i've known is colts football. our team won a lot of games here. i played with so many great teammates here. i've been part of a great organization and an owner i respect and continue to respect. i've been a colt for almost all of my adult life but i guess in life and sports, we know nothing lasts forever. times change, circumstances change. that's the reality of playing in the n.f.l. jim and i have spoken extensively about where we are today and our conversations have led both of us to recognize that our sources make it best for us to take this next step. this has not been easy for jim and has not been easy for me. jim along with bill drafted me 14 years ago. jim and i have always been
12:07 pm
close and we made a lot of great memories together. he's always been good to me and, jim, i will be forever grateful. this town and this team mean so much to me. it truly has been an honor to play in indianapolis. i do love it here. i love the fans and i will always enjoy having played for such a great team. i have gratitude to jim, the organization, my teammates, the media and especially the fans. i haven't thought yet about where i'll play but i have thought a lot about where i've been. and i truly have been blessed. i've been pleased to play here.
12:08 pm
i've been blessed to be in the n.f.l. and as i go, i go with just a few words left to say. a few words i want to address to colts fans everywhere. thank you very much from the bottom of my heart. i truly have enjoyed being your quarterback. thank you. >> this is breaking news. the joint news conference between peyton manning and jim of the indianapolis colts. they will indeed release peyton manning because he was due a $28 million bonus if they were to keep him. where does he go now? there have been many places announced as possibilities. the redskins, miami, denver, seattle. he says he's still not sure where he will play but the two held a joint tearful news conference and everybody's ears will be perked up to hear where he may go.
12:09 pm

12:19 pm
it's feeling pretty good. a lot of folks will be taking long walks this afternoon. sunshine, maybe passing high clouds. we'll be going into the low to mid-60s the next few hours. 3:00 will be about the high for the day at 65. south of town, southwest of town we may even see a 66 or 67. this evening we start to drop off but with the winds staying up out of the south at 10 miles an hour, temperatures by 9:00 will only have fallen to 55 degrees. overnight tonight i think the lows will be about 45, 46. so not nearly as cold as it was this morning when we had readings down in the mid-20s for martinsburg and frederick. we stopped at 40 in d.c. also on the bay in annapolis you can see 45 out in lauer ray and cup better -- luray and cumberland. this time of the year when the winds go light, clear skies, you can lose a lot of heat. if they stay blowing, the air mixes and with the winds today and gusting in spots, that 24 miles an hour right now, 20 at andrews we have temperatures --
12:20 pm
and look outside. we've got the clear skies and high clouds, we had a temperature of 60 at reagan national. the air really dry. i want to point out the dew point at 32 and humidity at 35%, if you feel you need to do some burning wait. a fire could get out of hand. 60s in detroit and chicago. even boston up to 57. so we've got this surge of warmth coming up. you get to the rockies, it's much colder. the jet stream taking a dip out here. a rise in the east. we'll be underneath the ridge for another 36 hours or so you can see the clouds coming across the plains riding up through minnesota up into canada. still winter going o. there's winter storms warnings and advisories in parts of nevada, new mexico and colorado. in the eastern u.s., all is well across the eastern seaboard with sunshine and
12:21 pm
temperatures shooting as we just saw into the 60s in many, many areas. here's our future cast. we've got the southwesterly winds with us today. they'll be with us again tomorrow overnight. this front is going to approach western maryland tomorrow afternoon. we'll still be mild ahead of it. temperatures tomorrow should shoot to 70 if not the low 70s south and west of d.c. before 50s return for friday. 65 today, milder. tonight we're down in the 40s. tomorrow 70. showers are going to head this way but tomorrow night into early friday morning. maybe upper 50s. saturday 50. we'll be right back with more in a moment.

12:26 pm
to offer folks an alternative to like you said the normal chicken wings, buffalo wings. one of the recipes we came up with, we decided to do something called buffalo shrimp. it was such a big hit, we decided to feature it. we have chipotle peppers which are kind of smoked, dried jalapenos. >> can you get them at any supermarket? >> any supermarket. >> we got them right at whole foods. all the mexican style foods. >> the last ingredient we'll put in this, instead of using frank's hot sauce, a little smoked paprika. cook it with a little bit of onions and butter. very simple dish. a little chopped parsley. that's wonderful. >> hurry up. you're killing me. >> meanwhile we'll serve it can true tons -- croutons. so that is it in a nutshell.
