details. dave. >> this is huge. all week long, we have been scrambling trying to find out which team peyton manning is visiting. turns out, we were following the wrong guy. washington apparently deciding to go with a younger, unknown entity in all of this quarterback carousel. they decided to trade up to the number two position in this year's draft. that position had been held by the rams, but they made it clear a couple weeks ago they were ready to deal. that has been on a lot of teams. the redskins put together a package to inties st. louis to give up that spot. it paveed the way for them to select robert griffin iii. it is a hefty price tag. take a look at that right there. 2012 second round pick, 2013, first round pick. also 2014 first round pick as well. so derek, this story continues to move, but it is a hefty

price tag. coming up later in sports, we'll dive deeper into this thing, but a hefty price tag to trade up to apparently get robert griffin iii. >> thanks, dave. there is something happening on the web this week that is bro introducing us to the horrors. it's a video that has gone viral. it's called kony2012 and it has been viewed by 21 million people. it's the story of violent rebels and their leader, joseph kony. some of the kids who escaped the kony killing machine were in bethesda, surprised that the world is going to pay attention. gary talked to them and he's here with that. gary. >> kids we met tonight have overcome murderous odds, excruciating loss and horrors the world has begun to focus upon because of that video, kony12, which states its reason for being at the beginning. >> its only purpose is to stop

can see the depth to which human beings can think. watch those kids who performed this evening and realize the hype to which the human spirit can soar even in those whom you would think never had a chance. derek. >> well said, gary. thank you. new at 11:00, an arrest in the white powder letter sent to members of congress. that suspect is 39-year-old christopher lee carlson and the fbi arrested him at his home in portland, oregon. he is accused of sending threatening letters to house speaker, john boehner. investigators believe he is also behind 100 other letters sent to dozens of members of congress and the grand jury indicted him on charges on mailing a threatening communication and threatening to use a biological weapon. back here in d.c. yet another letter showed up at a d.c. school today. it was sent to the school at 4th and i southwest. well, the same school got

another letter yesterday. tests shown that both letters were not hazardous. today's letter now makes seven delivered in the last three days to various places in washington, d.c. arlington county police are searching for a gunman still out there somewhere tonight. police say the suspect shot another man just before 8:00 and happened in the 4200 block of 2nd road north. a hispanic male was approached by a gunman. the suspect fired two or three shots. the victim was hit twice. police are canvassing the neighborhood looking for him. >> the suspect did flee the scene on foot. headed south towards arlington boulevard. we are going to have heavy police presence in the immediate area, trying to canvas the area and look for the suspect. >> that suspect considered armed and dangerous. witnesses describe him as a black adult man, 5 feet tall wearing all black clothes. the victim is still in the hospital in critical condition. now an update on a story we first brought you last month.

a three month old girl found in what was an unlicensed daycare. the two women are facing charges and being held on bond. police say the women cared for 23 children all under the age of 4 and the legal limit for home daycare is just 12 kids. >> 23 children there, there were five not including the victim that were under the age of 12 months. and basically the charges stem as of right now from that. >> prosecutors believe the two daycare workers are in this country illegally. federal authorities have been called in and investigators say the owner of the home lives in peru and may also face charges. police fell us an autopsy on that three month old revealed no signs of trauma. and there is new information on the death of another little girl. this one found in the trunk of a car in prince frederick, maryland. we learned it was the grandparents who found those remains in the trunk of their daughter's car. the calvert county sheriff describes the remains of a

fetus or newborn and probably been in the car for a very long time. the mother has not been charged, but her three other children have been placed with their grandparents pending the outcome of this investigation. there was more good news today for the unemployed. the latest jobs report says american employers hired more people than expected last month. the official numbers, 227,000 jobs added in february and they came in all types of careers. manufacturing, healthcare, food services. but the unemployment rate remained unchanged at 8.3% and that's because half a million people who had given up hope for finding a job are again out there looking. president obama trying to put the face on those numbers. it was an airplane parts factory in prince george and there, he told the supporters these new employment numbers show the nation's economy is clearly growing stronger. >> our job now is to keep this economic engine churning. we can't go back to the same policies that got us into this

mess. >> after that stop in virginia, president obama was off to texas for a pair of campaign fundraisers. >> is getting caught under age youthful indiscretion or damaging or sinister? tonight, montgomery county coordinator sets the record straight. and 9 wants you to know what she told andrea mccarren is quite startling. >> it's rampant. it's happening all the time. and it has to stop. >> alcohol and drug use may be rampant among teenagers. common sense is not. especially when it comes to social media. >> don't put anything on there. you don't want everybody to know about, including family, grandparents, employers. >> as an experiment, we logged on to facebook and plugged in local high schools. within minutes, we found photos like these. teenagers partying with alcohol visible. or in many cases, the bright plastic cups often used to disguise it.

>> do not allow anything to be taken that you don't want everybody in the world to see. >> no matter how many blocks you have on your own facebook, only my friends can see this. well, you may make a friend mad and your friend may cut and paste something that you did and post it on his wall that he opens to the world. >> montgomery county's teen coordinator. >> the colleges that accepted you. >> admissions offices will hire students to troll facebook and internet after kids have been accepted. are there pictures holding a red cup? that's not projecting a good image. they can withdraw your scholarship. >> employers are looking at social media, too. >> we've been in existence 15 years. >> you start making adult-like decisions. >> we have kids now in their 30s going for security clearances and they want to know everything you've done from the cradle on up. >> so is the military. >> i had to write many letters for men and women wanting to go

there is no place like home and that's what a group of marines is saying after returning from a seven month deployment in afghanistan. our ken was at the hero's homecoming where hugs and kisses were plentiful. >> welcome. >> one by one, 35 marine reservists from the civil affairs group stepped off a bus and out to anacostia, officially ending their seven month mission in afghanistan. friends and family anxiously stood inside a large welcome area and then came the moment they all been waiting for. their first deep embrace with loved ones in more than seven months. >> being back home is fantastic. it's nice.

>> it's great. i'm glad he's back. i really am. i missed him so much. >> these marines spent months in afghanistan. they were attached to a larger unit of troops and mainly tasked with building schools, health clinics, and roads. now that their work is done, it's time to concentrate on catching up with loved ones. >> we are all needing space and this is the best way to get it. >> i'm glad to be home and seeing this one. >> there was no shortage of emotion at this homecoming. the unit deployed is a 35 member team and returned the same way. so once again, they have been away for seven months. these marines telling me that the two things they're looking forward to once they get back home is a warm meal and a nice hot shower. ken, 9news now. >> they certainly deserve it. over at the arlington national cemetery, the department of defense honored the female veterans from the koreaen war. this ceremony marked the women's history month and the 60th anniversary of that war.

each vet presented a certificate of appreciation. eleanor porter from springfield, virginia. she served in the medical specialist corps where she worked with burn patients, amputees, and patients with traumatic head injuries. have you had a flight from hell? this might rank up there with yours as the plane is taxing down the runway, somebody goes crazy in the aisle. but it is not a passenger. it is a flight attendant. yeah, that would make anybody nervous. this happened aboard an american airlines flight. passengers say that flight attendant warned that the plane was going to crash and she started talking about the 9/11 terror attacks. >> i do think the situation would have been extremely out of control if we had been in there and i thank god we were not. >> exactly. they were on the ground, so passengers could hold the flight attendant down until the

airport police got there and she was taken into custody. american airlines replaced the crew member and the plane took off about two hours later. so, you take the kids to chuck e. cheese and when it's time to go home, you leave one kid behind. that is what happened to a family in texas. a mother with ten kids took everybody to chuck e. cheese. the birthday bash for five-year- old jackson was the party, but a few hours later, employees were basically sweeping the place up and realized little azana was still there all by herself. get this, the mother didn't realize she was missing until this morning when she was getting everybody off to school. >> she left her child? >> i don't know how anyone could forget their own child. >> the mother was emotional that she left the child at chuck e. cheese. >> ten kids is a lot. a lot of kids. child protective services have the little girl and they are looking into this further.

a motel in california tried to attract business by grabbing folk's attention with a little bit of a play on words. they got some attention, all right. the sign outside the place read, having an affair? then it listed their reservation number. well, when that sign went up, the complaints poured in. the owner said hey, you didn't mean that kind of affair. you meant a business meeting or anniversary party that could mean the conference room. seriously. >> being that the marquee is adjacent to the motel sign, a lot of folks would put two and two together and think the opposite of what we were trying to present. >> it's kind of funny, but the owner has taken the sign about the affair down. however, he is still looking for creative ways to drum up more business and who could blame them. >> exactly. >> okay sir, cold tonight, but it's going to get warmer eventually. >> the weekend does look nice. tomorrow will be on the chilly side, but a nice day.

batteries in your smoke detectors if you would. breezy and milder on sunday. the breezes come back, but that's okay. it's going to be a southwest wind. so overnight, clear skies. much colder. i'd say 1 to 2 blanket night. breezy. low temperatures 28 to 34. and winds northwesterly at 10 to 15. tomorrow morning, a cold start, but pure sunshine. sunny, you need a coat. 20s and 30s. winds manageable. now they are northwest at 10 and by afternoon, they just go light. sunny and chilly, but not a bad day. no wind at all. high temperatures 46 to 50. yes, that's below the average. average is running 54 for average high. high temperatures tomorrow, most folks hold in the upper 40s. 50 in arlington and springfield. 49 in college park. 48 in bowie. out to the west, upper 40s in reston and fairfax. leesburg 47. manassas also only about 47 for a high. now the zone forecast, you jump the divide tomorrow. only 34 in oakland.
