but come tomorrow afternoon, all eyes will be on the georgetown hoyas as they take the floor against belmont in ohio. our dave owens is in columbus tonight with the team. >> reporter: well, guys, so many teams come into march madness looking to make history. georgetown wants to erase history, as in recent history. the last couple of trips to the tournament have not been kind and they're tired of hearing about it. >> it does get tiring to answer that question. but, i mean, it's -- i think people are going to ask because it happens two times in a row so they're expecting it to happen again. >> they were better. i'm going to be flat out honest. they were a better team last year. they were more prepared than we were. i felt like we came out a little too lax. and i think that is what really heard us. >> you realize everyone is good and the numbers next to the name mean nothing. nothing. we've learned that the last couple of years. >> reporter: georgetown's road starts with a tough one. belmont. just who are these bruins and why are they such a tough

rockville. only our kristin fisher spoke with the mother today outside the montgomery county crisis center. >> i wish i could have been there for her. i can't imagine the terror and the pain that she went through by herself. >> reporter: jillian kenny shook with sadness and anger as she remembers how she learned her daughter had been murdered. >> i spoke with the police. they said they were going to meet me at my work. and i had the feeling that it was going to be really bad. >> reporter: it wasn't just bad. it was the very thing that joanne and her entire family had feared would happen for 8 years, ever since they met the man they now call a monster. an ex boxer with a long history of abuse and violence. >> it's just unbelievable. this person had threatened her life so many times. he had threatened my family. >> reporter: in one protective order, he told her i don't need a gun.

the claims of retaliation in this case are without merit. gary nurenberg, 9news now. an update now on a story you saw first on 9. a local priest who denied communion to a woman at his mother's funeral said he did it because she openly introduced another woman to him as her lover. the father says barbara johnson openly confessed her sin so he withheld the communion. she forced the issue on him just moments before the funeral. now, she says he is lying and she never introduced her partner, let alone called the woman her lover. he has been placed on administrative leave. a new anti-smoking ad campaign is getting ready to launch nationwide. and when it does, it should raise a few eyebrows and perhaps even turn a few stomachs. and that's exactly what it's intended to do. matt jablow has details. >> i'm going to get ready in the morning. >> reporter: get ready to see a lot of terry hall whose long

million children to not smoke. 9 out of 10 began smoking at age 18. >> from every person that dies from smoking, at least two new young smokers take their place. >> reporter: the ad campaign officially begis on monday. matt jablow, 9news now. >> whoa. wow. 440 thousand,000 million americans die from smoking related illnesses a year and two tobacco companies issued statements. neither address the cdc campaign but both acknowledge smoking is dangerous. there is a campaign to get a new movie's audience rating from an r down to a pg 13. it stretches all the way into cyber space. the movie is called bully, a brutally honest documentary about kids bullying other kids and it is meant to be viewed by kids. but that r rating could get in the way. the movie got that r because of

well, check this guy out. he's crossing a street down in richmond, virginia. and as we point out, he is in the crosswalk. well, a car comes along and hits him dead on. he flips over the hood, on to the pavement. the driver as you can see never even slowed down. the victim gets up, somehow manages to walk to a convenience store, called the cops. we're told he didn't suffer any major injuries. they're still looking for the driver. also caught on camera thieves stealing the camera. the security tape is rolling as the men yank out one camera after another. in fact, they took a total of 12 of them. so, yes, they have all the cameras. but police still had all of the video, including these do it yourself mug shots you see right here. here they are. so it didn't take long to catch up with those guys. well, today's weather will be pretty normal, if this was florida. but for the dc metro, it was a record high. and as we show you, folks really

is it june? no. it is still mid march. let's take a live look outside. this is our live look at our weather cam. this is wisconsin. temperatures are cooler but they're still very nice. i mean, 56. that's about our average high right now. winds east, northeast at 10. a little front slipped through the south. that will keep us a little cooler tonight. it will drop temps a little tomorrow but more so over the weekend, and we'll talk about those changes in a minute. the front will go north of us tomorrow and we'll still be pretty warm. pressure rising 30.19 inches of mercury. we'll widen out the radar. look at the storms in northern ohio. cleveland is getting hammered. another banch of storm in the tennessee -- batch of storm in the tennessee valley. i think some thunderstorms could develop before dawn. mr. bernstein will be here

shortly at 4:25. a couple storms will make it in west of the divide in the next couple of hours. we're not going to see a lot of storms tomorrow but a chance. you might want to bring the umbrella. odds are you won't need it but you might need it. not as warm on friday as today. that said, we're going to go from the 80s to the 70s. i think we can handle that. warm friday night. almost like summer friday night. and then mainly dry friday night as well. then the back door front gets through us again on saturday. lowers temps a little bit and then lowers temps a little more on sunday. overnight then partly to mostly cloudy. warm. showers or thunderstorms still possible. lows 55-60. winds generally light. now, tomorrow morning, we could see a shower in the morning. i think the main bulk of the commute is going to be dry. temps in the 50s and 60s. winds out of the south at 10. by afternoon, variable clouds and warm. a shower or thunderstorm possible. high temps around 75. and the winds are southwest at 10. the winds don't turn southwest tomorrow, we'll probably hold

around 70. the front should go back to the north of us, though. let's talk about the zone -- high temperatures on friday. generally 75 in gaithersburg. 74 in leesburg. 74 in manassas. we're looking at 76 downtown and maybe 75 over in college park. that is still almost 20 degrees above average. all right. we'll break it down. 55-60 to start. maybe a shower or a storm at noon. pretty mild, though. 70-74. and then by evening, 73-77. maybe a shower or a thunderstorm. umbrella is a good idea but not a necessity. all right. next seven days, we drop temps a little bit. now, on saturday we're still 70. still dry for the rock 'n' roll marathon. it's also saint patty's day. maybe a sprinkle west and south of town. we'll keep sunday dried. we lowered temps a little back to 69. we kind of crawl back to the low 70s on monday.
