was the law broken late breaking news where police are investigating a triple stabbing. >> gary is live from the crime scene. what can you tell us >> reporter: we're in the 2400 block of 4th street northeast near chang. this fight broke out on 4th street more than a couple of hours ago. you can see police working the cream seen right now. a fight included 8 to 10 maybe 12 persons. it started at a mcdonald's on the 400 block of rhode island avenue 3 lunch yards away. groups of persons exchanged words with one another. that dispute flowed out in the street and ended in the donnie brook and 24th hundred block of 4th street. three female victims were stabbed. as this fight broke out two jump into a quran drove to franklin street by the gates to trinity college. at that location they flagged

down a passing police car they were taken to the hospital. two of those injuries are not serious at all none of the three are life-threatening one of those cuts however is described as serious. police say that when the fight broke up they began to look for two persons, a black male dressed all in black who may be carrying a gun and a black female dressed in blue who may be carrying a knife. police refused to describe them as suspects because at this point they do not know who the aggressors were. that remains a mystery one that is going to remain unsolved while we're on the air. but police as you can see are working on it. back to you. >> thank you for that gary. more trouble, more anger reaching a boiling point in the city of sanford, florida tonight. >> the city council has passed

a no confidence vote in their police chief following the controversial shooting death of a 17-year-old teenager. that tragedy comes amid national outrage over the teen's killing and exacerbates tensions. ken has more on the story. >> reporter: 17-year-old tray von martin was gunned down after allegations he threatened a neighborhood watch captain. the rally for tray von martin took center stage in new york city union square far away from sanford the fury felt among these demonstrators mirrored those in florida. >> i want new york to know that we're not going to stop until we get justice for tray von. >> reporter: his parents join a massive group of supporters who held signs and chanted. >> it's not about a black and white thing it's about a right and wrong thing. >> reporter: at the center of the debate is a question whether the gunman 28-year-old george zimmerman was justified in shooting and killing the

team. he told police he shot martin because he was threatened by him. zimmerman is authorized to carry a handgun and under florida law isn't obligated to retreat from a threat before shooting. it's commonly referred to as the stand your ground law. here's what he said to a 911 operator just before he fired. >> he's got his hand in his waist band and he's a black male. >> are you following him? >> yeah. >> we don't need you to do that. >> reporter: in a statement sanford city manager said quote mr. zimmerman provided a statement claiming he acted in self-defense which at the time was supported by physical evidence and testimony. by that statute law enforcement was prohibited from making an arrest based on the facts and circumstances they had at the time. what the threat was we still don't know. reports say zimmerman was found with a broken nose after the shooting. the teen was found with candy and an iced tea in his pockets. >> tray von was not, and i repeat, was not a bad person.

>> reporter: tonight it's still unclear what the future of the police chief is out in sanford. of course following that no confidence vote that was taken place today by the city commission. the u. s. justice department is now involved in this investigation. they are helping local investigators get to the bottom of all of this. ken molestina 9 news now. we have an update on a story we brought you last night. we had planned to have a live interview with december lean james the 18-year-old survivor of a drunken driving crash in december. >> she was in the front passenger seat videotaping from inside the car when it crashed killing two of her friends and leaving her hospitalized. she had agreed to be here as a guest but the story has caused an emotional upheaval for one of the families whose child was involved in that crash. when she originally approached us with the video she hoped the chilling series of events would save other lives and prevent

behind bars. a judge sentenced gene gillette to so years in prison. he lured a 20-year-old man to his house made sexual advances toward him and shot himself times always he tried to flee in gillette's truck. gillette apologized to that victim in the courtroom today and asked for forgiveness. he will also have to registers register as a sex offender. what is the biggest risk to a police officer or firefighter getting shot maybe trapped in a blaze how about getting hit by a driver who has failed to move over or slowdown. by law you have to move over or slowdown for an emergency vehicle if it's parked on the side of the road with the lights flashing. authorities are launching a monthlong campaign to get that message out. the latest estimate suggest that nearly 400 police officers, firefighters, highway crews, tow truck drivers and other workers are struck and killed each year. corporal robert i man says he's

revisit this handicap parking issue in 90 days. presidential candidate mitt romney brought his campaign to maryland to do damage control. a top romney advisor was asked if the gop primary race was pushing romney so far to the right that he would alienate voters. they referred to an etch a sketch. romney's opponents were quick to portray him as a flip flop candidate. he says his policies will be s same. rick santorum is down playing his seconds place finish in illinois. he's focusing instead on saturday's primary in louisiana where the latest poll numbers show him holding a 13 point advantage over romney. on april 3rd voters here in d. c. maryland and in wisconsin will go to the polls. now it is a big gap from there to april 24th when five states

that unarmed 17-year-old boy shot in florida by a neighborhood watch captain who claims self- defense. as the protest and vigils ratchet up across the nation they are only looking for one thing. >> that one thing is accountability. see a 17 year-old boy was shot dead almost a month ago now and his family his friends and now a whole lot of folks are increasingly desperate to see somebody held accountable for it. this case brings back painful memories. oscar grand unarmed black men shot down by law enforcement except george zimmerman wasn't a cop. he was basically a neighborhood busy body legally packing heat. so if this guy can kill an unarmed fellow citizen and avoid arrest with what sure looks like a pretty thin claim of self-defense there is seriously something wrong with this picture. you see that's what's so infuriateing about this. george zimmerman may or may not

good. her cat lie la climbed into the machine while she had her back turned. when she hit the switch for a 30 minute cold water wash. fortunately the other family cat noticed her bud in the machine and started scratching on the laundry door. >> i went four 20 minutes of that i finally day in and she sat right in front of the machine there and just watched it. >> 20 minutes. well then she finally realized lie la was in there she rushes her cat to the vet we're told lie la had a few injuries to her eye and her paw but cats have that whole nine lives thing working. >> she shoes does. good night everybody.
