may have had some accomplices. he was shot dead by the police after the 32-hour standoff with them. and now negotiators say that he admitted to killing a rabbi and three kids at the jewish school this week as well as three french policemen last week. the french president said that the murders were the clear work of a madman. >> we were listening to them and in no way involved with the realization of the terrorist. and that should not be any kind of confusion. before targeting jewish children, the killer shot at point-blank range muslims. >> they said that he filmed his killings, claiming to have links to al qaeda. and the murders were paybacks for the palestinian children and the french militaries involvement in afghanistan. >> what?

>> that tirade that you're looking at went on for more than four minutes inside the classroom at florida atlantic university. other students taped the thing and now it's gone viral for you on youtube. now that student, who is a part of that tirade never hurt anybody. but in light of some of the school violence across the nation in recent years made us wonder. we asked matt jablo to check out at what point does something like that mean school security gets involved? >> it was very lucky that the young woman in that video was apparently unarmed, but the security experts say when it comes to school safety, it's a lot smarter to count on preparation than luck. >> reporter: it happened without warning and apparently without problems during florida atlantic university. >> the kids would die. >> they are talking about peacocks and how females choose their mates by their feathers.

the woman started asking how that killed all black people. >> reporter: the young woman, a student at florida atlantic, proceeded to go on a four- minute long tirade. during which she threatened to kill her professor and several classmates. finally after swinging at one person and shoving another, the woman was physically removed from the classroom. the incident was video taped by several students with their cell phones and posted to youtube. and today, it is the talk of college campuses all across the country. >> i have never seen anything like that before. >> reporter: including here in washington where some students at american university, they were disturbed bit video. >> you can see that they had some kind of a problem. >> others were amused. >> i thought it was pretty entertaining. >> the former head of security for the montgomery county school system said that in his opinion that there is nothing amusing about the video. >> obviously that woman was in crisis. >> reporter: the incident points out how much work still needs to be done in some

universities. to prepare teachers and students for the emergency situations. >> the professor, they certainly wanted to diffuse the situation. >> reporter: for starters, they said that the professor should have gotten the student out of the classroom as quickly as possible to call campus police. instead of allowing the incident to escalate. >> there is too much time that did elapse for someone to do something to get help or to control that situation. >> as for what the student could have done better in that situation, they said that you could have given them a little more room. and that they still have not been named. and treated at the psychiatric florida. >> that will be one thing for them video taping all the time. and that will be something for them and what could have been done better. >> thank you, matt jablo. you can see if you can help them find the missing teenager. the 15-year-old was last seen leaving her capital heights

according to male students at western kentucky university. they slipped on these high heels to raise awareness about six wall abuse and violence against women. and no walk in the park for these guys. >> i want to give a shout out to all the women because those high heels are extremely hard to walk in. i don't know how they do it. >> yeah, we are supporting something to show a physical moment that you will be standing up to fight for our women. >> and in fact that high heel walk raised about $8,000 for the crisis center on campus. now, three online dating services, they have now agreed to screen for sex offenders. the move comes after a woman who met a man online, they were assaulted during the day. and among other things, they have agreed to check that against the national sex registry to provide a great way to report any abuses. the estimated $40 million americans used the online dating service last year alone. >> it's kind of sad that it has come to that. but if you do find the perfect

nearly $153 million in their first several months, providing more work, but it has been seeing the amount of work decrease since they have gone to the e-mail boxes and online for services. >> you want some good news? there will be more evidence that the job market is getting stronger. the labor department that is reports the number of people that will be seeking unemployment benefits. some to a four-year low last week. the latest figures will show the employers adding in an average of 245,000 workers from december think february. that helped push down the unemployment rate to 8.3%. the lowest it has been in three years. a budget proposal that is causing a hot debate in maryland now stands before the house of delegates. we're talking about a proposed increase to the state's income tax. earlier this week, the house committee scrapped the plan to tax people making about $500,000 a year or more at the highest rate possible. under the house plan, people making $100,000 or less would not see a tax inreese.

inreese -- tax increase. it moves to the senate and we'll be watching it the whole way. no debate. nine students from eight district schools are very lucky indeed this evening. they got full scholarships today to attend george washington university in the district. the scholarship covered four years of tuitions, room and board and even books. this is one of the lucky students. >> i'm just really happy and the good of the energy that i use for my first choice. i'm just very excited. i'm glad they saw something in me. >> the scholarships were awarded to the d.c. students, worth more than $200,000 each. this is something that the school has been doing over the last 23 years. they started working in the father's connecticut bakery when he was just a boy. today, those bagels are a household name. after his father died, lender and his brother oversaw a dramatic expansion of their

caught on tape, the dramatic helicopter landing. this is in afghanistan. the youtube video shows the pilot appearing to lose control as they make a hard landing in the snow. and it narrowly missed a building before slamming down in a remote area. no injuries. the incident will be under investigation, but wow, kudos to the pilot to bring it down. >> reporter: the providence, rhode island taping an exclusive story about cow theft. they got more publicity than what she had ever imagined. >> it was a bit of an interruption from a rooster. channel 7 reporter katie davis walking out of a barn when

suddenly a rooster comes up and starts attacking her leg. i don't know why exactly. it didn't hurt her had. kind of stunned her. now as you might imagine, the video has gone viral. >> a great little bird there. >> yeah, definitely. now off to boston where rescue crews are calling it the miracle cat. >> her name is sugar. somehow she survived a fall from a 19-floor window in a boston high-rise. sugar had no broken bones or cuts, just some bruising on her hungs. the cat's owner opened up the window to enjoy the warm weather. a vet says sugar assumed a squirrel position that might have saved her from more serious injuries. nine lives, remember that. >> now she's got 8. all right coming up, busted. police arrest a barbershop kor debt accused of stealing $1,000. new research shows what it does that is worse to women than men. we'll talk about it.

whitney houston's toxicology report has been in and they call it an accidental drowning. the coroner also says that heart disease and cocaine use contributed to her death as well. now this ends weeks of speculations about what called the grammy-winning sinner. several bottles of prescription meds were also in that room, but they were not in excessive quantities. key tape metabolites were found in her system and it was listed as a contributing factor in herdeath. they call it a chronic cocaine user. in tonight's health alert, gender differences when it comes to smoking. the american lung association says that cigarette smoke seems to be more toxic to women. more than likely to get cancer and emphysema. it could make it difficult for women to conceive, yet another reason to quit. vitamin d. it helps strengthen bones in the immune

system and may even help ward off cancers and chronic diseases. but how about your allergies? some provocative new research suggests that it might be an undiscovered weapon in seasonal allergy control. >> it will be a very small pilot study looking at the affect of vitamin d that is taken along with a measle inhaler. >> reporter: the georgetown university is talking about study results, presented at the annual meeting of the american academy of allergy, asthma, and immunization. two existing people with the allergies got inhaled, the common treatment. one group, they also took vitamin d. supplements while the other took a dummy pill. the findings sit that the oral vitamin d may boost the allergy control and they may make the symptoms go away faster. >> they found that the patients, who took the vitamin d supplement, they actually recovered more quickly. >> reporter: but while the results are impressive, this was a pilot study and the research will need to be

repeated in a larger group of the allergy sufferers. >> it's not clear whether it is the vitamin d supplement or not that had the affect. whether it helped the steroid work for them and work better, or whether the vitamin d had an affect on the immune system. >> reporter: it is produced naturally by the skin, following the sun exposure. but the skin cancer specialist says that there will be safer ways to get the vital nutrient. >> vitamin d, it should be obtained through diet and for supplementation rather than sun exposure. because the sun is a known carcinogen that causes skin cancer. right now that they could see the skin cancer epidemic. >> the top dietary sources of vitamin d will include fish, orange juice, and low-fat dairy products. they recommend patients to take a supplement. for women, one that combines calcium and vitamin d might be the most beneficial. let me send it out to you guys. >> well now you tell us. it is helpful. and they are on out here getting a dose, although that could be a dermatologist that

redskin locker room. you talked to derek earlier in the show. but is that something isolated with greg williams? are we foolish to think that it only happens with him and not throughout the league? >> i think that it might be happening more often than what we think. i'm not so sure if that will happen. i find it hard to believe that those are the only two years they have done this. throughout the league, hard to say. but he's not the person in the football who has played over the edge. >> all right. and the nfl announced that they did close the investigation on the redskins. now, could it still come back and bite them later on? >> you certainly hope not. although maybe some of the current players who were involved in that scandal, there could be some backlash there. i don't anticipate it though. >> there is more positive information regarding the redskins. robert griffin iii impressed in his pro day yesterday. andrew luck, he had his today out in california.

now, dave, is there a chance that they could leapfrog andrew luck in the draft and to go to indianapolis? had >> find the call center. now watch, i've got to be excited. but they have been saying that all daying long that it is andrew luck. it's hard to step away from that point and they are getting ready because of andrew luck. and i find it hard to see him not going through and them coming here. >> they feel like he was always the number one and then rg3 stock, you know, quickly rose on under too. so do you feel like there is a chance for you, danny, that we might be getting andrew luck here? >> well kristin there is always a chance. i mean weird things happen all the time. and david already said it. it will be the colts and they kind of had a marriage, at least perceived for so many months and they moved on because of this kid who is pro- ready in a sense of a scheme that he has been playing under sanford. at least the adjustment curb. even the normal rookies have a hard time seeing that. the glorified runner here. and that will take a little

more time presumably than that guy would. >> i've got you guys here. the sweet sixteen resumes tonight. again, we have had some of the games on our air, but two number ones. syracuse and michigan state in action tonight. now, danny, could it be a chance of one of the number ones getting toppled? >> i like wisconsin tonight. syracuse thrives on the turnovers. they are not really doing it in this tournament. they take great care of the basketball. forcing the jump shots. despite being such a talented team, they don't shoot the ball that great. so actually, i would like wisconsin to pull a bit of the upset tonight and they seem to be that team here of the destiny. you know, you would prefer the last number one seed, we think about it. but they will have that clean view for them and it seems like he will be the story of the tournament to me. >> they are looking great. do you see any upsets tonight? >> they are playing real well. my dad went there. i have a hard time seeing them had. playing as tough as they are right now. wu they will be playing a defensive style. 50 to 46 and your margin of error is so much smaller than
