temperatures going into the 80s and cherry blossoms in full bloom down by the tidal basin. they're not going to be around all that much longer. tall warmth really speed up the whole process. our day planner for you on this friday morning. a good deal of sunshine expected after some patchy morning fog. this afternoon, low 80s. maybe even some mid 80s down towards oh culpeper and those areas south and west of town with the 5:00 p.m. temperature still of 80- degrees. dense fog advisory up north with frederick, out 70 over through howard county. north and east of town. up through westminster. northern baltimore county and even toward luray, culpeper warrenton. not under the advisory. here's the latest visibilities and you can see quarter mile frederick over to westminster. york, pennsylvania, zero. adams county pennsylvania also under a dense fog advisory. quarter mile culpeper. and yesterday we had the dense fog along the bay. even annapolis right now at a

mile and three quarters. as we're looking at temperatures they're in the 50s. cool spots being frederick at 54 degrees. with 60s down south in fredericksburg. it's 63 at the tappahannock airport and some upper 50s there across southern maryland. a nice mild start and with sunshine today way above average. average high is 58. look at the forecast highs with the east wind maybe the west side of the bay you guys stay in the 70s today. 81 here in washington. beverly farmer's in this friday morning, we say hello. beverly's here with timesaver traffic. trying to head into chevy chase. here's our issue, connecticut avenue ongoing crash investigation as we've been reporting in chevy chase. the overnight crash clean-up. southbound connecticut avenue diverted at bradley lane. this is sid owe we shot earlier of the crash at chevy chase circle. you can go around the circle

and access up to kensington but southbound traffic diverted at bradley boulevard until further notice. also 410 a better option over to wisconsin avenue early on. now if you travel in the district northbound i-295 they've been deal with a crash up at the suitland parkway. northbound lanes are still blocked and diversed there but they're in the process of clearing that and should have lanes open shortly there. travel in on 95 heading north of the rest area, dale city, three lanes are open. southbound work in quantico is leering from the roadway -- clearing from the roadway now. inner loop past braddock road. they're clearing up the overnight road work there. 95 into springfield. 395 up to the 14th street bridge. all lanes reported open there. andrea, jessica back to you. thank you beverly. we're following the breaking news beverly was just talking about this morning. police investigating a deadly wreck at chevy chase circle. >> and a montgomery county police cruiser also sustained damage at the crash scene. 9news now reporter delia goncalves is there with more on

what happened. >> reporter: we now have new information for you. apparently it appears this was a stolen car. the occupants inside four people and they were all young people. young teens -- late teens rather or young adults. let's take a look at a scene to brief you as to what's happening now. you can see that the chevy chase rescue squad is now here. extracting with the jaws of life we're told the two young people who perished in this fiery crash. they are two young people who were the backseat passengers in this crash. now let's look at some video that was shot a short time ago and tell you what we know so far after talking to captain paul starks with the montgomery county police department. this all started around 1:00 when police spotted a car in east-west highway and jones mill road. they ran the plate. that car came up stolen and police pursued that vehicle until 27400 block of -- the 7400 block of connecticut

avenue. that driver took off. the car sped away. and that leads us here to chevy chase circle where we're told the car lost control somehow and struck that tree. we're told that police on the scene immediately saw smoke and then that car burst into flames. they say the car was engulfed in flames in fact. captain paul starks tell us the two police officers came out and tried to fight that fire and tried to extinguish the flames. they were unsuccessful. but they were able to pull out the front seat driver. a young man. and his front seat passenger, another young man. they were pulled to safety. however, police were unable to pull out the two backseat drivers and we now know they are being extracted from this vehicle. the two backseat drivers have perished in this crash. now as far as conditions, what we do know so far is that that driver, the -- the young man, he's in surgery right now. his condition described as

serious: his front seat passenger is doing much better we're told. and is able to speak to investigators. so police are here on the scene trying to piece everything together. but that is a very latest investigation that we have for you right now. again we should mention a traffic advisory we've been telling you about all morning long. southbound connecticut avenue is shut down as police continue to investigate this single car deadly crash. back to you. >> all right, delia goncalves. live from montgomery county at the scene of chevy chase circle. good advice there for you. d.c. police say the baby of the pregnant women who was stabbed has died. officers found the woman early yesterday in the 4200 block of ninth street southeast. she told authorities a man stabbed her but there's no sign of any forced entry. the woman was eight months pregnant. doctors delivered the baby boy but he die. police are offering a reward for information about the case. a security drill this morning could impact your morning commute. it's happening at the new walter reed national military medical center in bethesda.

there will be extra security at the gates along wisconsin avenue and jones bridge road. and since it will take longer for employees to get through those gates, traffic is expected to back up. ken cuccinelli will run for governor in virginia next year. the republican attorney general officially filed papers thursday to create a campaign committee. he's running continue the work of strengthening virginia's economy, preserving liberty and promoting smaller governments. state law prevents current governor bob mcdonnell from seeking a second term. the time right now is 5:06 and i am watching your money. it would be nice to end the week with a rally on wall street but so far today unfortunately red arrows around the world. europe and asia following wall street lower. here at home stocks dropped. instead investors were keying in on worries about possible economic slowdown in europe and china. checking the numbers, the dow stands just above 13,000, dropped 78 points in trading yesterday.

the nasdaq was down by 12 and the s&p 500 was off by 10. a democratic senator from connecticut is writing a bill that would stop the practice of employers asking job applicants for their facebook or other social media passwords. we told you about this story yesterday. senator richard bloomen that will says such a practice is an unreasonable invasion of privacy for people seeking work. the a. p. reported this week that some private and the public agencies around the country are asking job seekers for their social media credentials. the practice has alarmed privacy advocates but legality of all of this remains pretty murky. he's trying to make that less murky. >> i know we were talking and it really sounds creepy and be forced into giving it if you want a job. >> it's kind of like a shakedown. or else. all right, coming up the l. a. coroner's office releases the findings in whitney houston's death. >> plus, supplies are headed to the uses after a doctor gnat --

this morning. and not nearly as widespread as it has been the last couple of mornings and we're in for a sunnier day and a warmer day. yesterday we were in the upper 70s, today we're going into the low 80s. might even get 84 or so down toward oh culpeper, warrenton, manassas. you guys could really get warm. we'll be in the upper 70s by 3:00 and also at 6:00. showers and storms moving in for the weekend. right now beverly farmer's moving with a look at timesaver traffic. howard, it's been difficult overnight crash closing the southbound lanes of connecticut avenue down near chevy chase circle. if you are south out of kensington and head past the beltway they'll force you off at bradley lane boulevard here. 410 a better option because it's a wider access highway getting over to wisconsin avenue to goout and go into the -- south and go into the district. with that crash investigation. i-295 in the district northbound, still blocked off at the suitland parkway for a few more minutes to tow away the last of the vehicles in that crash. jessica back to you.

thank you beverly. making news now at 35:106789 the los angeles -- 5:10. the los angeles coroner's office cites chronic cocaine use as a factor in whitney houston's death last month. she was also found to have heart disease, toxicology test results show houston didn't have excessive amounts of prescription drugs in her system. the lawyer for jerry sandusky has filed a motion to dismiss the charges against his client. attorney joseph amendola says prosecutors have not provided enough specific evidence for him to prepare a defense. the former penn state assistant football coach is scheduled to go on trial in may. the european space agency launched a powerful rocket from french gee january that this morning. it is headed for the international space station that's loaded with more than seven tons of supplies and equipment. the primaries may not be until april 3rd but d.c. and maryland are about to start their early voting periods.

morning: could have record highs today and then things turn around again for the weekend. >> not at national. but baltimore and dulles 82, 83. always can make a run for it and the weekend you know it's been so warm for so long. that people think it's going to be like this constantly for the rest of the spring. it's not. we're going to get some cooler weather to move and that happens over the weekend and early next week but the average highs are in the upper 50s and it's not going to be cold. just going to be cooler. >> we like summer in spring. >> like summer in spring. it will be back soon enough. don't worry about that. here's a look this morning at the dense fog advisory. just covering counties to our north like frederick and howard and carroll and northern baltimore and some areas in southern pennsylvania. that is until 10:00 this morning with the visibilities up there are going to be the worst. the visibilities regionally and you see frederick's down to zero. same with york, pennsylvania. not in the advisory in hagerstown but you guys are a quarter mile and to the

southwest from warrenton through cull pupper and parts of rappahannock county. to the east, not nearly as thick as it was yesterday with about a mile and three quarters over in annapolis. so the bus stop forecast, some patchy fog, otherwise partly cloudy out there this morning. temps running from to low to mid-50s in the cold spots to lots of low 60s right now. we'll climb to 64 in those areas over the next couple of hours. outside today, cherry blossoms near peak bloom for another day or so. 64 at 9:00. 74 at noon. it's going to be crowded therely bunch time and thendy by lunchtime and then by 5:00 -- by lunchtime and then by 5:00, winds out of the east at 7 miles per hour. the weather headlines just a little bit of fog this morning but even warmer today with highs low possibly mid 80s south and west of d.c.. isolated storm possible west of town. but really i think it's going to hold awful until tonight and over the weekend. unfortunately cooler and wetter than it has been and kind of need some rain.

it's been a dry march for many. temperatures this morning, mid 50s in bladensville but 59 for bethesda. 58 in college park. out to the west lots of mid 50s and reston, sterling manassas and haymarket. 55, 56 with alexandria at 59 and in washington as we look outside at the michael & son weather camera. not bad. generally clear, temperature is 61 degrees with calm winds and watching a storm system that's been affecting the middle of the country. that will be here for tomorrow and sunday and our forecast, 81 today. 50s around 6 # tonight with showers developing especially after midnight. showers and storms tomorrow arnold 70. more showers sunday. only in the low to mid-60s and then next week, we're looking at cooler weather. monday, 66. tuesday mt. upper 50s and then back in the 60s and another chance of rain on wednesday. 5 4:00 17. we go to beverly farmer with your timesaver traffic. howard, it's already been busy overnight crashes still under investigation. we start with live shot from i- 295 in the district. up near the suitland parkway.

one of the remaining vehicles in that crash. it happened before midnight. i-95 between the suitland parkway has been closed down and diverted northbound for that ongoing crash investigation. d dot official tell us when they tow the last of the vehicles away they'll be able to open the roadway northbound i-295 and that's a better idea. in the meantime suitland parkway, south capitol street will be options for you. other trouble is connecticut avenue. fatal crash investigation continues in chevy chase with southbound connecticut avenue detoured on to bradley lane. bradley boulevard in that stretch. there's one of the state highway trucks set up for the detour. the crash happened right at chevy chase circle. you can get around the circle and go north onthth. better bet -- on connecticut. better bet connecticut to 410. keeping in mind we'll have the added volume for the security in the next few hours at walter reed naval medical center as

you're going to be outside checking out the cherry blossoms. we're going into the low 80s. that's still well above average. you know chicago hit 87 out of eight days last week and all sorts of records going on? >> chicago's nutty. it goes from -- >> incredible. >> winter to summer instantaneously. >> but they're going to cool down too. 61 right now with clear skies at reagan national. a little bit of fog in spots but not nearly as bad as yesterday. going to be gorgeous for lunchtime today. a lot of long lunches today and 5:00 80. dense fog advisory from frederick through howard county and north up into pennsylvania until 10:00 a.m. however, some fog has snuck west into hagerstown at a quarter mile visibility. culpeper also a quarter mile but not nearly the extent of the fog a little bit into northern loudoun county and gaithersburg 2.5. temps have dipped to 54. that's one of the cool spots in 54 but we're at 61.

occoquan. your next chance of timesaver traffic -- check of timesaver traffic is 5:41. back to you. we want the bring you latest on this morning's breaking news as she mentioned two people are dead after the early morning crash at chevy chase circle. >> also the scene a montgomery county police patrol car was damaged. 9news now reporter delia goncalves is live at the scene with more on the investigation. good morning delia. >> reporter: good morning jessica, andrea. we can tell you now that rescue workers still here on the scene trying to extract the two backseat passengers who unfortunately died in this fiery crash that happened just after 1:00 at chevy chase circle. the driver and the front seat passenger both young men were rescued by police and here to kind of give us a rundown and to tell us how this all started. captain paul starks public information officer with montgomery county police. bring us back to when this first started. police officers spotted the car east-west highway yo said? >> yeah, a little over a mile north here at 1:15 in the

morning. he got a stolen hit. he radioed for help and wanted more officers there when he wanted to stop the car. for reasons we don't know the driver of the stolen vehicle emerged from that residential area near east west and connecticut and turned south on connecticut and suddenly accelerated before the officers could turn on the lights to stop them. they followed and for reasons still under investigation the driver lost control of the car and struck that tree. officers reported seeing first smoke and then fire. they ran up to the fire, extracted the driver and the front seat passenger. they had the fire extingishers going but they were unable to put down the flames and get to the two people in the back. >> reporter: the one officer did suffer some minor burns as he was trying to rescue one of the occupants? >> that's correct. he has been checked out and i believe he is okay but some burns. >> reporter: tell me what we know so far about the occupants of the vehicle. of course way too early to know identifications. so what do we know so far?

>> they appear forolder teens -- to be older teens, younger adults. right now we're talking with the front seat passenger who was injured but is able to money kate with us. >> reporter: the backseat passenger is in serious condition in surgery at this hour. >> the driver is in serious condition. >> reporter: the driver. that's right. i'm sorry i misspoke. the driver in serious condition. front seat passenger doing well speaking to investigators right now. >> that's correct. >> reporter: thank you paul starks, cam tape i appreciate you joining us this morning. an early call for you. fortunately no -- police officers were seriously injured. but the sad situation here. we have two young people who were in the backseat of this -- this stolen vehicle who have died in this fiery crash. the driver and the front seat passenger have very saved. that's the very latest -- survived. that's the very latest. as far as the police cruiser we did notice had front end damage we're told that cruiser didn't have contact with this stolen vehicle. just it struck another cruiser

as plenty of officers came and descended here on the scene to investigate this crash. back to you. >> thank you delia goncalves. delia live this morning on the tragic breaking news story. firefighters and police also on the scene of the early morning apartment fire. crews rescued two people from the building in hunt street northeast d.c.. three people were injured. one was serious smoke inhalation and two with burn injuries. the fire is now under control and investigation into what caused it is underway. lawmakers on capitol hill will hold a hearing about the death of florida teenager trayvon martin. thousands of people across the country have rallied to demand justice in this case. the neighborhood watch captain who shot the 17-year-old has not been arrested. george zimmerman says he fired in self-defense. others believe race was a factor. now the congresswoman who represents that district says the shooting will be the subject of a hate crime hearing next week. >> he didn't deserve to die.

and i pledge i will not let my son die in vain. >> we just wanted to come out and show support for the family. and show unity in the community, to try to make right an unjustice. >> the justice department and if fbi are investigating the case and a grand jury is expected to consider charges against zimmerman when it meets next month. andrea? thanks jess, turning to campaign 2012 another primary prize in the deep south is up for grabs tomorrow. polls have shown rick santorum is leading among republican primary voters in louisiana. santorum and newt gingrich both had etch a sketches at some of the campaign appearances yesterday and that's after a mitt romney aide compared starting the general election push to the toy saying you can shake it up and start all over again. good for stock prices for etch a sketch as well. well, soon it will be maryland and d.c.'s turn to have a say in the campaign election season. tomorrow early voting for the

primaries begins in both jurisdictions and here to talk more about early voting and the april 3ed primary are marge rhee public information officer for the montgomery county board of elections and allison mclaughlin public affairs manager for the d.c. board of elections, thank you both for getting up this early in the morning, we appreciate that. allison we'll begin in d.c.. how many centers will the district have open beginning tomorrow and what are the hours? >> we have eight sites, one in each ward of the city. the hours are 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. >> this is an early voting situation, do i have to go to the precinct site in order to cast an early ballot or anywhere in the city? >> you can go to any one of the eight locations in the city. >> we've had some changes congressional redistricting in maryland. how is this going to affect them? >> early voting won't be affected at all. we have five early voting centers in montgomery county and we're open through -- we're open on sunday as well

beginning tomorrow. in term of congressional district six that's where you will see the most changes due to restricting. and voters have been notified. we've sent out voter notification cards and sample ballots that tell them where they go to vote and check out the website so they're familiar for election day on which poll site to go to. >> now this is early voting. is this voting only republican registered voters or can anyone vote in the early voting situation? >> in d.c., we have three parties that are holding elections on april 3ed. and have early voting that starts tomorrow at all eight locations. obviously the attention is on the republican contest for president. and there's also a contested election for ward -- the member of the council on the republican ballot. on the democratic ballot, we have contested elections for at large member of the council. council members and wards 4, 7 and 8 and we have a contested election for our shadow senator in d.c.. on the d.c. green party we have

a contested election for at large members of the council as well. >> and you? >> we have basically the democratic and republican primaries but we also have the unaffiliated voters who have a limited ballot. they are able to vote for the school board. but there are really no highly contested races in montgomery county and it is primarily a republican primary although democrats do have items on the ballot. >> we have to go but early voting was about giving people choices and options not just the tuesday or whatever. are you seeing an increase in people responding and appreciating the fact that there's early voting and seven days during the week? >> i think they are. we only put it in last december of 2010 so it is still early on. but people are pleased and they can make their choice on their time and go out and vote. >> allison? >> we definitely saw in the 2010 election when we also started having early voting, it was very, very popular.

we had one in five voters cast their ballots early in 2010. so far we're not seeing the interest yet. looking like the turnout is pretty low so far. but we do expect when we open the eight sites in each ward that definitely the candidates will be mobilizing voters and we do expect more voters will be coming out. >> thank you very much for being here with us and from voters in both jurisdictions early voting went smoothly last time. jess? thanks andrea. 5:39 and i watch aming your money -- am watching your money at the dollar store. these days dollar store sales are booming. while many retail stores are shutting down family dollar and dollar general plan to open 500 more stores this year. i'm going to let you in on the best finds. the grocery section is expanding. consumer reports say they're adding refrigerated cases and also offering more national

name brands. index cleaner, coke and kellogg's all sold at a discount and find name brand medicines. dollar stores have a wide selection of paper, notebooks and pens for under $1. buying in bulk is going to save you money here like pedigree dog food and huggies diapers a great way to stretch the budget when you buy in big size. keep in mind though don't knee jerk reaction here. everything in the value store isn't necessarily a dollar. in fact most items usually range from $1 to $20 and try doing a little comparison shopping. so you know what kind of deals you are getting. you just never know. >> you never know. we are putting the finishing touches on today's daily legals and i will have -- deals and i will have those for new a couple of minutes. >> if you prefer to be shopping for deals on a new yacht or gulf stream. there's a huge megamillions jackpot that could come in pretty handy. >> nice. >> we'll be back.
