and tomorrow, maybe a couple of showers return by wednesday afternoon. here's a look at our day planner for you this monday morning. it's going to be a sunny, breezy and cool day. cooler air is moving in. the winds are going to be up out of the north 10 to 20 all day with gusts 25, maybe 30. mid-50s at noon. low 60s for highs and a 5:00 p.m. temperature right at the 60- degree mark. yeah, when you get ready to get the kids out the door this morning, they're going to need the sweat shirts and maybe jackets for the outdoor recess. looking at the satellite and radar, you can see the clouds and showers sinking south. this morning we have a couple of leftover sprinkles. this is live doppler 9000hd from spotsylvania to thornburg and points west. everything moving to the southeast rather quickly. we'll be done with the showers in another 20, 30 minutes. temps are dropping as well. we've got mid- to upper 40s north of town. down to 51 in d.c. with upper 50s south. in spite of the sunshine, the northerly winds are going to keep us from moving too much. highs about 62 in town. maybe 60 along the bay. a few spots south and southwest

in toward the mid-60s range. let's go to monika at 5:00 a.m. not too bad for early this monday morning. good morning, everybody. the beltway is fine. there are no big incidents to report. if you're planning to head northbound on i-95 in virginia, coming out of lorton, newington and springfield, you can see all the green. that means you're still good to go with all the lanes open heading up to 395 and the 13-g9 street bridge. -- 14th street bridge. let's take a live look. again you can see that all lanes are open and traffic still moving pretty well both in the main and hov lanes here. back over to the maps. this time we'll head out west. no problems on the dulles toll road or i-66. that one coming in from manassas. we'll take a live look at dulles airport and route 28 in sterling as you come in on our traffic land camera. no problems to report. the length of the dulles toll road from leesburg over to the beltway. coming up in my next report, we'll go north of town at 5:09. police in prince george's county have three deadly shootings to solve after this

weekend. >> the killings happened in different parts of the county and several other victims were wounded. 9news now reporter delia goncalves is at police headquarters in palmer park with more. good morning, delia. >> reporter: good morning. the violence started around 10:00 friday night. by the time it ended sunday morning, eight people were shot, two men and one woman dead. let's take a look at some maps here to give you a closer look. friday at 10:30, three people though are expected to survive after they were shot inside an apartment on northwest drive in hyattsville. saturday early morning, 19-year- old leicester flores of alexandria was killed on the 2000 block of woodbury street. then saturday evening, two women were shot inside an apartment building on the 3500 block of terrace drive in suitland. but the second victim police are telling us was found at a nearby liquor store. >> we had two victims that suffered gunshot wounds.

it apparently looks like the victim in the 3500 block of terrace drive sustained life threatening injuries. was transported to a hospital. the second victim we're still trying to determine how they got to the 2200 block. they sustain add gunshot to the leg -- sustained a gunshot to the leg. that victim went into a liquor store and found an off-duty sheriff that assisted that victim. >> reporter: sunday morning a fight broke out in a forestville home. two men were shot, one man died. coming up new at 5:30, i'll have more on the youngest victims of this weekend's violence. back to you. >> delia goncalves reporting live from palmer park. a local politician led one of the latest rallies in the trayvon martin shooting. alexandria mayor bill yule spoke to demonstrators. many carried signs and wore hoodies in memory of 17-year- old martin who was shot and killed in late february.

protesters want the shooter george zimmerman arrested and want a review of florida's stand your ground law. under that law zimmerman is claiming self-defense. a man is facing charges after a bomb threat that caused confusion at nearly 20 fairfax county schools. 19-year-old marco toledo of burke, virginia is now charged with felony threats to bomb and criminal trespass. the police did not allow buss to drop off students at annandale high school on friday because of the threat. since those buses also pick up younger students later in the day, 18 elementary and middle schools were affected by this. after using bomb sniffing dogs and robots to check out the school, police eventually gave the all clear. the university of virginia has received a piece of steel from the world trade center. the charlottesville volunteer firefighter who is also a student at the university led the effort to acquire the steel. now that it's on campus, the steel will eventually have a permanent home at uva's newcomb

hall. it is 5:05. time for the latest your money report of the morning. jessica doyle is off today. we're waiting to see what u.s. markets are doing when they open this morning. most asian markets closed lower but futures in europe are looking more promising. friday the dow gained 66 points closing at 13,212. the nasdaq dropped almost four points and the s&p 500 climbed more than five points. if you had a problem with your visa credit card, you weren't alone over the weekend. visa says a technical issue affecting its network barred people from using their credit card and debit cards for about 45 minutes on sunday. the company had trouble processing some transactions as a result, but the system is operating normally right now. a visa spokeswoman says the outage was caused by a recent enhancement visa has made to its system. she added the problem was unrelated to the security breach potentially affecting visa and mastercard customers which was reported friday by credit card processor global

payments. iphone 4 owners may have some money coming to them. apple recently settled a class action lawsuit that claimed its phone was defective because of reception issues. the payout comes to about $375 million. about 25 million people could be eligible for the $15 payout. have you been going through your rolodex to see if you know anybody in baltimore county? because of the megamillions lottery on friday? three winning tickets were sold for friday's $656 million jackpot, including one at a 7- eleven in baltimore county. the others were sold in kansas and illinois and so far not one of the winners has come forward. after decades of fighting for democracy in her country and nobel laureate has won an election there. that story is coming up. the coast guard fights some rough seas to help some sailors. police hope kentucky fans

off, some are ocht we some spring -- are on. we have spring break for some this week and spring break for some next week. temperatures are dipping into the 40s in many areas to low to mid-50s south. sunrise at 6:54. sets closer to 7:30 now. 50 degrees at 9:00. 55 at noon. winds, though, look at that north 18, north at 16. we'll have gusts to 25, maybe 30 at times today with the 5:00 p.m. temperature of 60. highs only in the low 60s which is about average for this time of year. looking at the radar over the last couple of hours, the area of showers sinking to the south and just about out of the region. you can see it here pulling through culpeper area now down toward thornburg and ashland and quickly pulling away. temperatures, they're dropping into the middle 40s. the cold spots now gaithersburg and laytonsville. columbia not far behind at 46. rockville 47. off to the south we've got 54

at fort belvoir and manassas. 49 northern loudoun county and reston. lovettsville and reston at 47 degrees. also 49 in crofton and over to andrews. good morning, scott who watches us every morning over at andrews. appreciate having you as a viewer. 51 degrees, partically cloudy. a north wind at 21. a definite chill. windchills get calculated when we get below 50 but it's got to be feeling closer to 40 out there with the north wind at 21 and that barometer 29.67. that is rising. lots of warmth right in the middle of the country. still 71 this hour in kansas city. got a little bit of a cold shot here in the rockies and also in the northeast with caribou at 30. so we're going to try to bet into some of the milder air at least tomorrow and wednesday. there's really not much weather headed our way. we've seen the showers this morning which are sinking off to the south. see some heavier stuff in southwestern virginia moving in towards areas of central and western north carolina and eastern kentucky. but around here, again this is leaving so as we look at the

future cast, we don't have much to talk about weather wise except for the breeze today. gusts 25 to 30. a cold night tonight, especially away from town. we could be talking about some patchy frost with temperatures in some areas down into the middle 30s. we already have frost advisories up for the far northeastern part of maryland and parts of pennsylvania and new jersey as well. tomorrow another quiet day. here we are at 7:00 a.m. with sunshine. winds turn southwesterly so we'll be pushing 70 degrees. then by wednesday some moisture out of west virginia tries to kind of build our way as we get into the afternoon. may see a couple of showers, emily on the south side of town. our forecast today will be in the low 60s. kind of breezy out there. 30s and 40s tonight. about 40 in town. some frost possible in a few areas. 69 tomorrow. some of us are going to make below 70. low 70s wednesday. slight chance after shower south. thursday and friday back in the low 60s. a good looking weekend.

5:16. 51 degrees. here's monika with time saver traffic. good morning, everybody. we're going to focus on the south side of town. southern maryland. just want to give you a heads up. northbound 301 at billings lee road in la plata, there is construction blocking one lane. otherwise route 5, route 4 and route 210 out of accokeek heading toward oxon hill on the beltway looking fine. right here at route 4, pennsylvania avenue near andrews air force base we're looking great. traffic is moving at or above the speed limit on the south side of town to the wilson bridge. back over to the maps this time northbound 95 and 395 heading north to the 14th street bridge. you're fine in through springfield. we'll take a live look at the beltway right here in alexandria near route 1 between springfield and the wilson bridge on the south side. traffic is moving well. coming up in my next report, we'll go west at 5:23. the capitals are holding on to the eighth and final playoff spot. >> plus, march madness wraps up tonight for the men's ncaa

going to be a cool, breezy day. temperatures will slowly recover back to the mid-50s by noon with highs only in the low 60s and those winds at times will gust 25, even 30 miles an hour out of the north. looking on satellite and radar, everything off to the south and southeast. you'll also notice the rain, the last of it getting down between richmond and fredricksburg. so we're saying goodbye to that. temperature wise we're welcoming the cooldown. mid-40s in hagerstown. 51 national. annual drews now down to 48. i've seen windchills as cold as 38 degrees this morning with air temperatures still in the upper 50s. it will be a brisk day. don't forget the sunscreen. could still get a burn this time of year. it's now 5:28. we have a holiday weekend. should be pretty good news. >> like you said, we've got

primaries as do voters in wisconsin. >> while the other candidates are not conceding, mitt romney is sounding more and more like he's certain he's going to be the nominee. >> reporter: mitt romney predicts he'll win tomorrow's wisconsin primary and the republican nomination. >> i can't wait to get america back on track. >> reporter: while campaigning in middleton, wisconsin romney looked forward to a november november battle with president obama. >> this president can't run on his record. so he's going to try every way he can to divert to some other kind of attack and try and have people disqualifying our nominee which will probably be me. >> reporter: a win in wisconsin could put romney firmly in control. he only needs 18 more delegates till he's halfway to the number needed to clinch the nomination. 42 delegates are at stake in wisconsin. rick santorum says he has no plans to bow to pressure from the party establishment to drop out. >> the establishment keeps thinking if we just appeal to

the middle, friends of theirs, you know, at the club, that -- [ inaudible ] if we appeal to them, we can win. >> reporter: mitt romney could face an uphill battle if he wins the nomination. a new gallop poll shows president obama with a nine- point lead over the former massachusetts governor in battleground states. >> i think governor romney is out of touch. >> reporter: president obama's team is already launching attacks against the g.o.p. frun gler this is about the middle class. none of what he's offering does anything. it's just returning the old policies. >> reporter: mitt romney has argued his background makes him the best candidate to challenge the president on the economy, an issue voters say is one of the most important this november. this month a florida grand jury is expected to hear evidence in the trayvon martin shooting. >> so far the man who shot teenager george zimmerman has not been charged. sports stars and entertainers turned out for a rally sunday in miami, trayvon's hometown.

basketball stars alonzo mourning and others joined the parents of martin in calling for justice. george zimmerman claims he shot in self-defense. critics say the shooting was racially motivated and also want to see florida's stand your ground law struck down. prince george's county investigators have a string of shootings to try to solve now. three people were killed in separate shootings. 9news now reporter delia goncalves is live at police headquarters in palmer park trying to sort these cases out. delia, good morning. >> reporter: good morning, mike. we're hoping to have more information a little later this morning when police hold a news conference around 10:30 but right now only one shooting victim has been identified, though three are confirmed dead. the one victim we know of, 19- year-old leicester flores -- lester flores of alexandria, police say he was killed during a saturday morning shooting on woodberry street. the three shooting victims injured friday night inside an apartment, how much, are

expected to survive. then police tell us saturday evening one woman was killed inside an apartment on the 3500 block of terrace drive. a second woman got help at a nearby liquor store. we're told she was shot in the leg. then we're told two juvenile boys were hurt outside a carnival on fairlawn street, the first call to police was that there was a report of gunfire. >> we haven't been able to confirm a shooting. it appeared that the victims, the type of injuries they sustained were bruises. we're still looking as far as suspect information. it appeared that they may have been assaulted in some way. as of right now we don't know how many suspects are involved. >> however, police believe there may have been witnesses in that case. finally to end this very violent weekend here in prince george's county, a shooting, a gunfight inside a forestville home. two men were shot, one man survived.

the other man died. mike, back to you. >> thanks, delia. see you in a little bit. police have i arrested two men they say were involved in a shooting outside an early voting place in northwest d.c. one of the men is now charged in the case is the same person who went into the takoma recreation center looking for medical assistance after being shot in the leg. authorities are still looking for a third suspect in this. voting was halted for about 20 minutes saturday following that violence. today in richmond state senate and house budget negotiators will resume their meetings. they had hoped to reach a deal on the state budget friday, but decided to take a break until today. one senator says the major sticking point is state funding for the dulles metrorail. the house proposal includes $150 million for the project while the senate's version adds $300 million. some people in northeast washington feel like they're in brand new homes this morning. the clinton global initiative teamed up with building together. volunteers from both groups worked on repair projects in

out of the north. so about 62 or so is what we're going to make. here's a look at the doppler radars over the last couple of hours. you can see how everything is pulling off well to the south of washington now. this stuff is even south of richmond. so i think this is going to be the last time we look at this this morning. temperatures are dropping into the middle 40s up north. again some of these windchills now even upper 30s to around 40. still upper 50s, even 60 in richmond but the cooler air following the showers this morning. as we look out on our michael & son weather camera, still an hour and change. not quite an hour. yeah, an hour and change. about an hour and change till sunrise, 51 degrees, partly cloudy skies. north winds at 21 with gusts closer to 30 and the dew point. that's going to drop a lot as the drier air moves in. the drier air following this line of showers, this lgtz front coming -- this little front coming through. still leftier showers across extreme southwest parts of virginia and north carolina. that will be the case for

another couple of hours. but everything is going to quickly move away. here he are at lunch time, sunny, brisk, temperatures in the mid-50s. by this evening clear skies. winds are going to die down overnight a lot. with the drier air in place, we could have some frost in a few spots north and west. frost advisory for extreme northeastern areas of maryland, across parts of pennsylvania, jersey and north and east of there with even a few freeze warnings up in pennsylvania. tomorrow a sunny day all day long. temperatures upper 60s to low 70s. then on wednesday moisture in west virginia in the morning translates east. from d.c. points south in the afternoon better chance of showers than north of town but clearly something we'll watch. our next chance of showers not for a couple more days. the forecast today we've got reading which will only make low 60s. 30s to about 40 or so in town tonight. maybe a patch of fos north and west. warmer tomorrow 69. even warmer wednesday 72 with the shower possible in the afternoon, mainly south of town. cooler thursday and friday, low
