down to 32 in orange. baltimore is up from 32 to 36 and la plata 34. all right, sunny and dry air. boy it heats up nicely. the highs again around 689 in town and maybe 71 in fredericksburg. monika samtani has a look at timesaver traffic. thank you so much howard. if you're planning to head over into the gaithersburg area, there was an accident involving a tractor-trailer and a car and i just got off the phone with authorities there and they tell me that southbound muncaster mill road between route 124 and shady grove road. one lane getting by now. in the meantime watch out for the activity. we'll take you to a live picture there, involving a tractor-trailer and a car. they had flares set up in the area and they were directing traffic here on the southbound side of muncaster mill road near shady grove road. remember that for your travel plans, 270 is absolutely fine. no problems to report through gaithersburg and down to the point where the lanes divide. back to the maps and this time head to the west side of town.

no problems to report out of manassas. you're going about 64 miles an hour here at route 234. all lanes are open on 66 but on the northbound side of i-95 a live look in the gore area that accident was cleared. you can see that everything was gone but take a look at thedly on the northbound side of -- delay on the northbound side of i-95 that it caused. leaving newington into springfield with the lanes now open. coming up in my next report, another update into maryland at 6:11. back to you guys. the top of the hour we're following breaking news out of prince george's county. police are investigating is murder/suicide in capital sights. according to the department's twitter feed officers are at a home that's right near the cedar heights park in capital heights. we're being told a husband killed his wife then killed himself. we have a crew on the way and we'll bring you more information as we get it. in less than one hour the polls will open in maryland and in the district.

besides the local contests there's also the republican presidential primary. >> delia goncalves is following the 2012 campaign and she's life this morning in -- live this morning in potomac, maryland, good morning. >> reporter: good morning andrea, mike, you said it. the polls open here at churchill high school at 7:00 a.m. and thanks to early campaigning in the state of maryland, and endorsement by the former governor bob ehrlich, mitt romney is expected to take the state and its 37 delegates. in fact, in early voting romney already proven today ahead of the -- proved to be ahead of his rival rick santorum who didn't visit maryland at all instead focusing on wisconsin where 42 delegates are up for grabs. if romney fails to pick up wisconsin, pundits say it will be a blow to his campaign. order the santorum takes the -- on the other hand the sanatorium takes the state it will give him the moment he needs to forge ahead in the race. >> i at least going to be voted out of office. he took far too long for the

weave learned the suspected gunman in a deadly college exam pus shooting out west has some local ties. the "san francisco chronicle" is reporting he lived in springfield, virginia and has a brother living in centerville. seven people were killed and three more were hurt yesterday when the shooting happened at oikos yesterday. it's a christian college in oakland, california. police say 43-year-old one goh turned himself in after the shooting, he's a former student of that college they say. he pulled out a gun inside some classrooms yesterday morning and then turned himself in a short time later. >> i heard gunshot sound like down, down, down. then right after that i heard like one woman scream. >> very, very, very bloody scene. a lot of evidence so we're going to take our time and collect evidence properly so that we can have a good solid case to present to the office. >> police say at this point they don't know the motive of the shooting. this is the deadliest shooting since 2008 on a college campus. here's some news,

marylanders don't want to hear. governor o'malley is once again talking about raising the sales tax again. it went up from 5% to 6% just five years ago. the governor tells the "washington examiner" he may hike it to 7% the extra money isn't put aside for transportation. o'malley a democratic has proposed adding the 6% sales tax to gas but that idea hasn't found any support in annapolis. when the governor first floated the idea of a sales tax hike in january, senate president mike miller called it a nonstarter. six minutes after 6:00 right now. jessica doyle is off today but we are will watching your money. the secret service is looking into a breach that's put over one million credit card accounts attristingen they were stole -- at risk. they were stolen from a company called global payments. for visa and mastercard. the good news is the social security numbers were not taken and there's no risk of identity theft in this but the credit card numbers were taken so the accounts can be hacked. your company is expected to

alert few you're one of the people affected -- if you're one of the people affected. as gas prices go up so do sales of fuel-efficient cars. gm says last month it sold 100,000 cars that get 30 miles a gallon or better. which is a first and gm says the demand is rising. chrysler also reports seeing a jump in cars getting 30 miles to the gallon or better. in d.c. in the metro area regular gas now $4.03 a gallon which is up over 28 cents from last month. natural gas wide the average -- nationwide the average $3.82 a gallon. how did your bracket do? >> tom won the channel 9 pool. he correctly picked the winner last night of the men's ncaa championship. >> wisconsin was just -- kentucky was just too much for kansas.

the flatbed tow truck arrived at the scene and they're in the clearing stages with one lane getting through there. if you want to avoid any delays caused by this go ahead and take the mid county highway instead. we'll go to a map and show you where it is here on the southbound side of muncaster mill road here in gaithersburg. just remember that and you can see that southbound 270 is slow as well through the gaithersburg area. now to the south side of town no problems to report inside the beltway on 66 or 395. but we'll take a live look at the northbound side of i-95 where it's very slow and heavy through newington to springfield. we had a couple of separate incidents there earlier this morning that were cleared and a little further north now at duke street slowing down to listened mark heading up to seminary road. coming up in my next report, another look into maryland at 6:25. back to you guys. thank you monika. our time is 6:18. next in sports the capitals face a challenge in tampa bay.

andrea. you know workers campaign workers for john delie knee, he's a democrat running for congress, he will be there at 7:00 hoping to convince voters before they head into the polls to cast their ballots. delaney endorsed by the "washington post" and former president bill clinton is running for congress in the sixth congressional district against republican representative roscoe bartlett. bartlett is seeking an 11th term in congress but facing an uphill battle with a field of -- a large field i should say of republicans and democrats. the reason for this mainly is because of redistricting. redistricting recently changed his district in many ways. getting rid of a republican stronghold of maryland and now in its place, putting montgomery county which of course leans very democratic.
