when he is sentenced in june. in capital heights, armando trull, 9news now. an update on the newborn found dead on the sidewalk back in january. now the baby girl died from hypothermia. she froze to death. d.c. police are investigating the newborn's death as a homicide. the temperatures were freezing when they found the baby northeast. naked, wrapped only in a towel lying just steps away from a home. busted. tonight police in virginia have arrested 20 people from across the commonwealth in the undercover operation targeting the online child predators. now those arrests were made in six different counties including fairfax, prince williams and loudoun. charges include online solicitation of a minor and distribution of child porn. well, marion barry is trying to clarify the

controversial comments he made at a party on tuesday. he was caught on tape saying, "we've got to do something about these asians coming in and opening up businesses and dirty shops. they've got to go. i'll say it right now. but we need african-american people to take their places too." however in a radio interviewed today, barry did not seem to be backing down. >> reporter: it just happened. i mean, to carry it out and what we have. 90% of them are all owned or operated by asians. too many of them don't participate in the community. they will come in to our community, they will take your money and just leave. we need to change that attitude. >> reporter: in a statement released later this afternoon, he did try to clarify the comments saying that his remarks were directed at the

less than stellar asian- american businessmen and not the community as a whole. well three winning tickets will still share that record success of $656 million jackpot if any of them ever come forward. so far though nobody. that will not stop about who may or may not have that winning ticket. >> reporter: officials fear that there might be a winner on out there who doesn't know it. people are claiming that they are the ones they want. it's been five days with no confirmed winner and lots of rumors. the haitian immigrant that claims she won, but can't get her story straight. >> this is the real deal. >> reporter: a man with a criminal record of falsifying documents, who showed off what looked like a winning ticket and then retracted and claimed it was a practical joke. maryland's lottery director is

not amused. >> it's important to us that all the information that's out there in the media that people not be mistaken in thinking that it has been claimed only to have the legitimate ticketholder discard their tickets. >> reporter: the advice? >> since no one has approached us, we would encourage people to look at their tickets very closely. >> reporter: in baltimore, scott broom, 9news now. we have breaking news for you coming out of virginia tonight. a car including six people and a small child crashed after trying to get away from the cops. this is according to the fairfax county police. officers say the suspects stole some merchandise from tyson's corner and then drove off. they were able to pull the car over. that is the police were, but the suspects got away once again. the chase ended after the car crashed and flipped evil -- crashed and flipped over. everybody in that car has now been taken to the hospital. no police officers were hurt. tonight, much more information on what lead to the college here that suddenly shut down all three campuses this

week. we learned this the federal department of education is alleging that they failed to distribute to their students, hundreds of thousands of dollars in financial aid. it and then that they lied about it, repeatedly to the federal government. so the department of education cut off all assistance, which lead them to shut it down. however, there will be at least some encouraging news for the students that have all been left hanging. they are working to find schools that will accept the students as well as those all- important college credits that they have earned. well good day sunshine. beautiful once again. lit -- a little cooler, getting cooler still, right, an -- anny? we'll bring you that weather forecast in just a couple of minutes. but in the meantime, we've got another sure sign of spring.

tonight, a woman is literally fighting for her life following an early morning house fire. they were able to rescue three people today. the blaze was knocked down in about 20 minutes. investigators think that it may have started with a single cigarette, but they have not been able to confirm that just yet. >> we saw the flames coming out of the window. it was very dark smoke and they live in this house here. they were, they got out of the house. >> we hope and pray that they will all be okay. >> reporter: those two adults will be expected to be fine. but the elderly mom is listed

pennsylvania today. the 68-year-old is facing 52 counts for alleged sexual abuse of 10 boys over a period of 15 years. he is on home arrest, awaiting trial in early june and he denies the charges. in texas, an ironic trend of events after a fight broke out during the antibullying fight -- protest. the family says that bullying lead to the 16-year-old to taking their own life, but for some reason, during the protest, a fight broke out. the cops had to get involved. no word yet if anyone was seriously hurt. in denver, the former arapahoe county sheriff is sitting in the jail, which is named after him. he pleaded guilty to drugs and prostitution charges. concealed cameras set up by the cops were rolling when he tried to trade meth for sex. brian mott has the story. >> do you see me? it is tuesday, november 29.

to an abrupt end. >> don't move. let me see your hand. >> reporter: they detonate a flash bang grenade. and it is the beginning of the end for the former sheriff, pat sullivan. >> oh my goodness. well, breast-feeding mothers in seattle are taking their fight to city hall. they want legal protection to feed their babies in public. now by law, moms can breast- feed any way they would like to, but a group of moms who showed up at the city hall say that will not be enough. they would like the city council to make it illegal for someone to cover up or to move. now if it is approved, this measure would give moms the file to set up a complaint. >> that will give women the power to breast-feed and take care of their child the way they know is best. >> some people think oh you should do this in private, it's a private thing. but nobody really eats in private. a lot of people go out to eat and they eat in restaurants and

eat in public. why should my son not have to? >> well near lay dozen women told -- nearly a dozen women told them that it is a public health issue. babies breast-fed have lower obesity rates and fewer infections and chronic diseases than those who are not. and moms say those that feel uncomfortable, they need to look the other way. what do you think? is it a violation for the civil rights to ask a mother to move if they are breast-feeding? or should they take the mom's device and just look the other way if it bothers you? send us your thoughts on web -- mailbag@wusa9.com. a broken pipe is being blamed for a massive plume of steam downtown st. louis. the 20-inch steam pipe broke this morning. you can see how it looks. the steam is just blowing into the air. you can see it from miles away. thankfully no one was hurt. the st. louis fire official says that they will now need to shut down the street for the next couple of weeks to fix it.

in our mail bag tonight, some reaction regarding the d.c. council member's business that happens to be owned by the asian americans. barry said that in part, the businesses, they ought to go. and they will apparently be fed up with marion barry. that is the remarkable views for them. people will be going into business whether or not there's a need. and people will be staying in business because customers, they will keeping doing their business with them. if he wants one group rather than another, work on getting that group to go into business and meet that need and fill that vacuum. you know what, john, i couldn't have said it better myself. we have had this conversation with marion barry before, taking some heat from some of you because i tried to give the ex-mayor the benefit of the doubt when he says these kinds of things, but you know what, i'm done. i've got a question. why? this kind of comment is not
