temperatures into those middle range 50s and it will only be late afternoon when we start to bump closer to that 60-degree mark. as of right now we're seeing some chilly air north and west. look at the 30s on the map. luray at 36 degrees. we have 39 out towards martinsburg and 39 for leesburg. closer to 40 degrees lower 40s inside the beltway. but this chill this morning has a freeze warning in effect until 9:00 and it does cover loudoun, montgomery county and also howard county. looks like our forecast for the short-term is not so bad. we'll be moving into the lower 60s for today. middle 60s for tomorrow. we'll keep the sunshine through easter sunday with highs in the upper 60s. monika? good morning, good morning everybody. it may be cool out but at least the roadways are fine just bundle up a bit this morning and once you head out on the roadways all the overnight construction's been cleared in virginia. no problems to report here in maryland on route 50 from annapolis and baltimore through cheverly into the northeast

washington and people are shaking their heads once against. good morning. >> reporter: absolutely, they're saying marion barry strikes again. you know he's known for being very outspoken and not really being shy about his opinion. certainly though a lot of folks are shocked and even though the folks -- even the folks who've known him for a long time are shocked at what he had to say and the timing of the inflammatory comments certainly very interesting on election night. this is one of the restaurants here. the carryouts on mlk avenue that he was referring to. barry now says that his intention was good, his words certainly were not. take a look for yourself. here's what he said -- at first barry stood by his comments but he apologized. here's what he sad to say -- had to say for himself last

she's live in southeast d.c. this morning. d.c. police have ruled the death of a newborn found on a sidewalk a homicide now. the district's medical examiner's office say the baby girl froze to death. he was found outside back in january just steps from a home on channing street and wrapped only in a towel and temperatures were well below freezing that night. so far no one has come forward the claim the little baby. the woman known as the blond bandit takes a plea deal. 26-year-old stephanie swab pleaded guilty to a string of bank robberies, carjackings and heroin distribution charges. her crime spree in virginia and ended last november when police -- maryland ended last november. the manassas woman could face at least 40 years in frizz when sentenced in july. a week ago today we were all rubbing our hands together and couldn't wait to hear about the record megamillions jackpot. we found out three tickets were told that were winners and $640 million. maryland lottery officials still don't know who bought

that ticket and a 7-11 near baltimore. >> to be clear, no one has approached the maryland lottery to claim this ticket. we have not heard from anyone claiming that they have the ticket. >> now the maryland lottery director would not comment on mirlande wilson's claim that she has the winning ticket. they also checked out the surveillance video from the 7- 11 and they believe the time stamp don't match. so that makes the investigation a little bit more difficult. the other two winning tickets sold in illinois and kansas also the owners there have not come forward yet either. and certainly sad that people might throw away the tickets. 5:05. time for the latest your money report of the morning. >> here's jessica with the headlines. >> we have the big jobs report out this morning. it's not going to have the market impact here because there's no markets today. yeah. good friday of course. but it has been a bad week. the dow lost about 1.2% of it

over the last few days of trading. stocks closing out the worst week so far this year as europe's debt crisis continues to take center stage. and this time investors worried that spain is going to be unable to push through tough cost cutting measures. now in the meantime we're going to check in numbers from -- the numbers from wall street -- we aren't going to the doctors as much. we aren't taking our medications. those are the findings of a new "new york times" report and you can blame people losing health insurance because they don't have jobs. prescriptions dropped 1.1% last year. doctors' visits down 4.7%. now trips to the emergency room, they bucked the trend. they were up 0.4% last year. what are your favorite grocery stores? your least favorite in

and welcome back. the time now is 5:09 and it looks like we are into a chilly start this morning with the clear skies and fairly calm winds overnight and that has allowed our temperatures to drop on down. right now we're sitting into the 40s in and around the region but the weather planner will give us a warmup through midday and late day. a high near 60 degrees. here at the springfield interchange no problems to report on the beltway. both loops in springfield but we're just getting word of the accident on the outer loop of the beltway right in the

good morning and welcome back to 9news now, our time is 5:14. ready to start the weekend, you can't do it without olga's forecast. >> and without a warm cup of coffee if you're stepping out early this morning. something to warm up the hands a as you get started in your car. we have clear skies and fairly calm winds right now. most of us are in the 40s and yes we have some 30s out there already this morning with the freeze warning in effect for counties north and west. looks like we are looking at our day planner with plenty of sunshine for midday and late day. the winds are going to krang up a hits bit -- crank up a little bit in the afternoon. you can expect most areas the make it at least to the upper 50s. the city center near 63-degrees by that -- 60 degrees by that 5:00 hour. the counties that we're really concerned right now include loudoun, out to montgomery and for howard county as well.

they are in that freeze warning until 9:00. however, there's some cooler air in the entire region so we should all be a little bit cautious as we're stepping on out this hour of the morning. the forecast overall i would say is looking pretty positive particularly the next three day stretch ahead into the extended weekend. so far cold starts for the moral, yes, you'll need a layer, however into the mid and late day, things are going to start the improve with the sunshine ming through. then we'll have plenty of sunshine into the afternoon but a little bit brisk as we crank the winds up near 15 miles per hour. easter weekend will stay mainly sunny and dry but i'm tracking some changes on the way that will bring the moisture back into the extended forecast. right now 37 degrees for winchester and 42 across la plata and even 39 gaithersburg at this hourment yes, we're going to be very cool before we start to warm up and temperatures should drop over the next hour or so including

here at reagan national airport where the michael & son camera shows we have mainly clear skies this morning but at least the cool temperatures to go with it. satellite and radar giving us some high pressure at noon here blocking off the showers and storms down to the south and off toward the eastment that will continue to move off to the close with that low pressure system. however, we will get some more sunshine later on in the extended forecast. . futurecast agrees, mainly clear skies for early friday morning. afternoon's looking great even that drive time by 5:00 p.m. we're still in the clear. but as we go into the early morning hours, the clearing skies and calm winds will allow us to be chilly once again on our saturday morning. so if you're heading out early saturday, or even midday to late day saturday things are looking much better as the temperatures will have annuitants to rebound closer to the -- an opportunity to rebound closer to the middle 50s. more cloud cover late in the day on sunday but late evening there's an opportunity for some

rain showers to develop north and east of town. i think most of it will miss our immediate metro area. so today's highs about 60 degrees overall. we'll definitely see the opportunity for some warming trend as we go in through saturday and sunday and question that extended forecast keeps us in the dry and even warms us up as we head in to the weekend bringing back much cooler and damper conditions for tuesday and wednesday. monika? well, if you're planning to head over to the beltway in tyson's corner, i've just been getting word about the an accident on the outer loop of the beltway near route 7 along the right side of the road and state police are just heading to the scene. that's the southbound side of the beltway right here near route 7 and route 123. so as soon as we get word on what's going on there we'll let you know. it's along the right side of the road. a live look at the american legion bridge and heading southbound that's where you want to be aware of that situation and stick over to the left side of the roadway to get around the accident. we'll take you now back to the maps and this time to the other side of town.

us in a chill for the next few hours, i would say until about 11:00 or noontime. and we'll start to see just a little bit of an improvement later on in the afternoon but the winds today are out of the north at 10 to 15 miles per hour and gusts higher than that and that means that temperatures are going to be very slow to warm up. temperatures at noontime for most of us in the middle range 50s and upper 50s to 60 degrees by the 5:00 hour at the reagan national airport. with the cool air in place and the falling temperatures for the overnight hours we have the freeze warning covering all of the northern and western counties until 9:00 this morning. and then things will be chilly again overnight tonight. so some of the cool spots right now 40 in laurel, 41 fairfax and we're looking at about 43 degrees in alexandria. monika? well, olga you know it's been spring break for so many people and yet we've had accidents every single morning this week on a major thoroughfare and today we have it on the beltway in tysons corner on outer loop right after 123. it's in the right lane and

outer loop -- outer loop just side just out of the camera shot at connecticut avenue. it's on ramp there to get to connecticut avenue and crews are on the scene. but first a heads-up for drivers who use highway 355 in frederick county. starting this morning at 8:00 the maryland state highway administration will close the northbound lane at dr. perry road. crews will be making some emergency repairs so northbound and southbound traffic will alternate using the other lane. the northbound lane will be reopened by 4:00 p.m. also rite of spring returns to the area this evening. the first of four crystal city 5 k races will be run in arlington, that means parts of several streets including crystal city drive, potomac avenue and 12th street will close. the races will be run every friday in april at 6:30 p.m.. so watch for those street closings between about 6:15 and 7:45. coming up in my next report, at 5:45. more on the accident in bethesda.

into the afternoon and evening hours. our morning temperatures are still drooping. many of us are down into the lower 40s and it is right around 45 to 50 degrees through early lunchtime and then in the afternoon, we'll see a little bit of a bump. upper 50s to near 60 degrees by about 5:00 hour. and yes, it looks like it will be a fairly calm night again for tonight. and the cool one indeed. if you are in any of the northern or western counties, you want to keep in mind that this freeze warning is going to stay in effect until 9:00. and that includes montgomery, loudoun and also howard counties. we will also be seeing some brisk winds as we go in toward the afternoon. generally 10 to 15-mile-per- hour winds today but they're going to bump those up later on this afternoon. a few things you need to know for today. it will be a chilly morning. we have that freeze warning until about 9:00 and then things should be a little bit more calm as we get in toward the afternoon. breezy at times with those gusts above 15 miles per hour.

and then a very nice weekend in store for any of those holiday plans through saturday and sunday. your travel forecast looks pretty good as well. here are the gusts i was talking about. they're hit os more in a few areas but gusts up into the upper teens to lower 20s in and around the region and again it will be even more than that later on today as the daytime heating starts to kick in. right now at reagan national airport we are looking at 44 degrees. courtesy of the michael & son camera. the winds still out of the northeast and that will remain dew points very, very low because we're pulling in that cooler air from northern portions of canada. in and around the belt ray right now the --way right now the cooler spots are in the 40s including reston to fairfax. arlington at 40. definitely see more of the cooler temperatures over the next several days as we start a very slow warmup headed in towards the next three days. in fact, saturday looks pretty good. we'll be sunny again into the middle 60s. upper 60s by sunday and the seven day forecast is

definitely going to feature a bit of rain coming our way particularly in toward the afternoon -- tuesday and wednesday time span. that's where we're going to see a little bit of rain coming our way. monika? thank you so much olga. good morning everybody. well, if you're getting up early this morning all the construction from overnight was cleared up but it was replaced with a couple of separate accidents i'm so sorry. on the outer loop of the beltway exit for connecticut avenue watch out for the accident. crews have been on the scene there. i don't think it's affecting traffic much and it's been much lighter than normal on the north side of town. at least some good news for you folks, southbound on 270 a live look in clarksburg and again, a good indication of what it looks like from frederick to 121 and down to the point where the lanes divide. it looks pretty good actually. we'll take you over to the maps again, this time on the northbound side of i-95. no problems to report out of dale city into woodbridge into springfield as well. taking a live look in springfield you will be fine as you head northbound here it's just a bit slow exiting to the beltway and a live look at 395
