exactly what happened here. we're in new carrollton, 9news now. three people are shot in northwest washington today and tonight police say robbery was the moifer. it happened just after 3:00 this afternoon in the 200 block of q street. detectives say the victims, two men and a 15-year-old, were playing dice when several suspects approached. >> they were just doing their regular thing, and then two idiots walked up and tried to rob them and people ended up getting shot in the process. >> we had a group of kids out here playing crabs. four suspects came out in dark clothing. at some point gunshots were fired and we have three individuals that have been struck. we don't believe any of them are life threatening injuries. >> the three victims are being treated at a local hospital. police are asking anybody with information about this case to give them a call gldz a man is found dead in prince george's

county. tonight police are calling it a homicide. police received a call just after 7:00 this morning to check on an incident in the 7300 block of webster turn. that's in fort washington. when officers arrived, they found an adult male lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. he was free announced dead at the scene. one nearby resident's mother heard a commotion early this morning. >> we heard the alarm on the car going off. it's a very quiet neighborhood. i've lived out here for years and nothing like this has ever happened. >> looks as though it's a close- knit community. we're hoping if anyone saw or heard anything suspicious, to please contact the prince george's county police department or utilize our crime service line where they'll be able to remain anonymous. >> the victim's identity has not been released and detectives are still trying to determine who shot the man and why. now for the latest on the navy jet that crashed into an apartment complex in virginia

beach. the commander of u.s. fleet forces tonight calls it an amazing miracle that nobody was killed. the two pilots and five people on the ground were injured but tonight all have been released, treated and released from hospitals. 40 apartments were damaged or destroyed in the fiery crash. officials say all residents have been accounted for. tara mergener has more on the investigation into what went wrong. >> reporter: investigators are combing through the wreckage looking for clues as to why an fa-18 crashed into an apartment complex in virginia beach. >> we'll find out what happened and fix whatever went wrong. >> reporter: on friday the navy jet suffered what officials call a catastrophic malfunction. witnesses claim they saw the plane dumping fuel. the student pilot and instructor on board ejected from the aircraft just before it crashed. both survived. so did five others injured on the ground. dozens of apartments were damaged or destroyed. >> we were there when it happened and just watched our apartment building go up in flames and everything collapse.

>> reporter: including the home of newlyweds tiffany and daniel beale who say they've lost everything. >> that's the first place we had together. it's just all gone, watching it all go down. it hurts. >> reporter: navy officials say it will take weeks to find out the cause of the crash. they're picking up parts of the plane scattered in the debris and plan to review digital recordings. >> we'll not rush to judgment. we'll get everything down. we'll examine it carefully, find out exactly what happened and then we'll share that information with the mayor and all the other appropriate people when we have it ready to go. >> reporter: on saturday residents lined up to file claims. in spite of their loss, many are feeling lucky. >> it's just really scary. i'm just happy nobody got hurt. >> reporter: as residents pick up the pieces, investigators say they're grateful everyone has been accounted for. people in tulsa, oklahoma are afraid a shooter is still

roaming the predominantly black neighborhoods looking for victims after three people -- five people were shot, three of them fatally. one resident says he's keeping his 15-year-old son inside at night till the suspect is caught. investigators think the shootings are linked. they happened around the same time within a three-mile area and all five victims were out walking when they were shot. >> this is going to be a difficult investigation identifying a lone wolf suspect who acted independently. we just know that it was a white male in a white pickup truck. that's the extent of what we know. we were fortunate enough that we have one victim that has survived and was able to give us that information. >> that man and pickup truck were spotted in the area where three of the five shootings occurred. howard university students gathered for a million hoodies march today demanding justice for trayvon martin.

a house fire in fairfax county sends one firefighter to the hospital for observation. it happened around 5:00 this evening in the 9200 block of forest greens drive in lorton, virginia. firefighters arrived on the scene to find heavy smoke coming from the first and second floors of that resident. a neighbor alerted the occupants of the home to the fire. they managed to escape unharmed. dozens of teens looking for summer jobs turned out a today's one stop lifeguard hiring event. the employment line formed at the tacoma poole in northwest, washington. staff were on hand to accept applications and assess teen applicant skills. they're looking to fill 250 positions at the city's 24 outdoor pools and ten indoor

belvoir. we will continue to see at least these lower, middle range 50s begin to dip over the next hour or two. it has been a pretty uneventful weekend. very dry conditions. the current view moon lit night from our michael and son camera. the current temperature at the airport is still 58 degrees. look at our dew point temperature. in the teens. humidity very, very low and our winds coming out of the north, northwest. we will keep our winds fairly moderate overnight tonight. i'm expecting it to be sunny and breezy as you step out tomorrow morning. it will be very cold. if you're going to the sunrise services, you definitely need a jacket. easter sunday milder temperatures are in store us for as we get the upper 60s to near 70 degrees. we will see a return of the rain and your extended -- in your extended forecast. we'll actually see some cooldown behind the next system that's coming our way. we are going to be looking at a pretty good night tonight. you might want to take out the extra blanket because as temperatures go down to the middle 30s and lower 40s, we'll keep a brisk northwest breeze well throughout the night.

the overnight temperatures for most are going to be right around 40 degrees. that includes gaithersburg 41 both for andrews air force base and for reagan national airport. but look at some of the other temperatures out here. closer to the blue ridge and even toward the southern portions of virginia we're dipping down into the 30s as well. overall sunday afternoon looks pretty promising. sunny skies. we'll get some high thin clouds late in the day but overall most of us should hit the upper 06s and -- hit the upper 60s and some of the southern locations may get into the lower 70s. culpeper 73. we should see 69 degrees up toward gaithersburg, one of the cooler pockets there and of course the panhandle of maryland a little chillier into the upper 50s as lower 60s. future cast very quiet overnight tonight and into tomorrow morning. we're looking good as you head out tomorrow afternoon as well. but the moisture tomorrow will pass north of us. we miss the first round headed

into monday we start off great for your back-to-work and back to school but notice we're going to see a change monday afternoon. 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. rain arrives so be prepared for a wet commute on the way home. forecast overall at least for the next three days is looking pretty good. we're breezy. we'll be in the 70s or 60s tomorrow. upper 60s by monday and then it's all over. by tuesday we bring in the rain and, yes, we bring back some of the cooler temperatures behind the next system. we are back down into the 50s for both tuesday and wednesday but we'll rebound a little bit toward the end of the week. >> and maybe some rain. we need the rain, right? >> we need t. eight not going to be an overall heavy rain but just enough to get the gardens started. >> rg3 man starting to look more and more like he's going to be wearing burgundy and gold. i know omar is happy. we've seen the show on espn. john gruden's quarterback camp.
