correspondent mike wallace died this weekend at age 93. he died saturday night in an assisted living facility in connecticut. >> wallace was known for his aggressive interviewing style. his colleagues say he loved the fact people got nervous when he showed up at their door. >> are. >> reporter: mike wallace died peacefully saturday in a connecticut care facility with his family at his side. he was 93. his friend and 60 minutes colleague of 40 years, morley safer last saw him a year and a half ago. >> he was the same old feisty mike. wonderfully aggressive, wonderfully critical. >> reporter: wallace's passing may have been quiet. but his life as a journalist was anything but. >> it is almost an embarrassment, sir, to hear this from you. >> reporter: wallace was a tenacious interviewer, who backed away from nothing. for example his interview with the ayatollah comb main any during the

investigators were called to an incident in the 7900 block of western turn in washington. officers found a man lying on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. 26-year-old matthew cedric bow veal was found on the scene. police believe he was trying to steal something from a vehicle when he was shot. they are trying to identify a suspect in the case. there could be a major development in the trayvon martin case this week. prosecutors could decide when to bring charges against george zimmerman. meanwhile another rally was held sunday in sanford, florida, calling for justice for trayvon martin. two men arrested in connection with a series of deadly hootings in tulsa are scheduled to be arraigned

range. by noon 62. west winds at 16. they will be gusting 25, 30, maybe even 35 miles per hour with the 5:00 temperature of 66. we are looking at highs today in the mid to upper 60s maybe even 70s south of town. another windy day. rainfall for the year is 1.4 inches below. we do need some rain. high fire danger, that's been around for a few days. a chance for an afternoon shower or two if we are lucky. there is a red flag warning. it goes from eastern kentucky to southern new hampshire. all of these areas abnormally dry for weeks now. some of the counties off to our south and east don't have it but red flag warnings from just about everybody. a really high fire day. the wind conditions and the fuel out there for anything to burn. the fuel moisture content is real low. please be careful today.

looking at a couple of sprinkles off to our north and west here. some of the sprinkles getting into garrett county. wonder how much of this will hold together the air out here is dry, not too cold. temperatures in the 50s. york, pennsylvania 4, 58 at the pax river naval air station. he is at 53 and clear there morning. locally we have a 50 in columbia. upper marlboro at 56. low 50s in fairfax county and louden county. 53. here in washington our michael and son camera, you can see this flag standing almost stiff here with the breeze at the capital. reagan national 55, currently west point at 8, we have had gusts over 20. dew point 22. a 33-degree spread between the temperature and the dew point. so relative humidity only 28%.

that is really, really dry. big storm off the west coast and big storm giving some snow to maine. this area of showers could be coming toward us this afternoon since the air can get moist enough. we'll see a few showers this relatively dry pattern is with us here. you see a couple of showers this afternoon try to come across the region. better chance for the higher elevations out to the west. midnight maybe an isolated showers. tomorrow looks quiet, pennsylvania a better chance of showers tomorrow and more showers possible on wednesday. today 68 degrees, windy, shower chance this afternoon. windy tomorrow, 58, could be a shower north, wednesday 57. there is a look at your 7-day forecast, 57 again on thursday for the nats home opener. it will be okay on the cool side. saturday 73, sunday around 80.

and mystery out of it. >> reporter: joyce best is one of the women who took the fight on and won. she proudly displays a paining made by her niece. >> with friends and family and faith, you get through it. >> reporter: best was diagnosed with breast cancer in august 2010. she officially beat the cancer in june of last year. seen in this home video, her last chemo treatment was nothing than a triumph. >> over at walter reed, you ring a bell. it is a great feeling to know you have no more chemo. then you start living your life again. >> reporter: she is part of the 70% of women who beat cancer. but unfort nay natalie, the number of breast cancer cases often fluctuate. >> around 2000 we started to see a decline in the number of breast cancers. but since 2008, we are starting to see a slight increase up again. >> reporter: while so much is still being studied about the

role. >> researchers may have found a way to prevent age related eye disease from getting worse. there are to two forms of age related macular degeneration. dry and wet. the dry form causes blur and go a blind spot in your vision but not total blindness. wet is not as common as dry but can lead to total blindness. the new research has pinpointed the part of the immune system which causes it to evolve into the more serious wet type. the 2012 olympic games kickoff in july and millions of fans are expected to attend. such a large concentration of people if one place can be ideal breeding grounds for dangerous diseases. but officials in london are using technology to prevent a pandemic. they are building a health map to find out where visitors are coming from and where disease out breaks are coming from
