garrett county seeing a couple of sprinkles this morning. 49 in leesburg, low 50s in the shenandoah valley here. low to mid-50s fredericksburg, cambridge 56. almost everybody is under a red flag warning due to the wind and the dryness. humidity is running in the 20 to 30% range. a lot of dry fuel ready to go, so please be very careful today. it is again only a slight chance of a shower with highs well up in the 60s even to the 70s in fredericksburg and warrenton, you guys could get to 70 degrees. 68 for cambridge. 66 in frederick and 66 also at the naval air station. it is now 5:01. monika samtani stepping in. i'm guessing traffic someone be much of an issue today? >> reporter: i don't think so at all. a lot of people would -- who do

have to go to work, you could probably give yourself a little extra time at home. braddock road all the lanes shift sharply to the right and all four lanes are available, you just want to be careful there heading northbound on the beltway. here's what it looks like traveling on the northbound side of i-95, you can see all that green and i think it is going to pretty much stay that way this morning. let's take a live look outside on 35 on the northbound side eds sell road looking great no problems to report. main and hov lanes both directions of 35 between the beltway and the 14th street bridge. back over to the map, this time into the downtown area. all the river crossings are incident free. we'll take a live look heading into the district using new york avenue. here's what it looks like on ninth street no issues to report on the bw parkway as well inside

the beltway. andrea? mike? easter the most celebrated day on the christian calendar, worshipers packed the national cathedral. christians believe easter is the day jesus rose from the dead. those in attendance were asked to give what they could for repairs to the cathedral which was damaged in the earthquake last august. a man has been rescued from atop his capsized boat on the river. a person spotted the man early yesterday near annapolis. the coast guard police and the fire department all dispatched boats and helicopters to the scene. the man had been top of the boat for at least nine hours. he was flown to shock trauma in baltimore for treatment of hypothermia. the cost of your commute if you take metro may still be going up. transit authority says a smaller increase, due to metro's reducing expenses, as well as improved ridership outlook is the reason why metro had

proposed increasing rail and bus peak fares by an average of 5%. time for the latest your money report on of the morning. >> back to work for wall street traders. >> reporter: that's right. we are back to work today after of course having the day off friday. today investors will get their first chance to react to last week's disappointing jobs report. the market was closed friday when the government revealed employers added only 120,000 jobs last month, that was 80,000 less than economists anticipated. the unemployment rate fell to 8.2% but the reason why, fewer americans are searching for work. here's where we stand this morning. the dow hanging on to 13,000 at 13060 after adropping -- after dropping nearly 13 points. the s and b500 was down by a point. drivers have been slammed by high gasoline prices with the

national average near 4-dz a gallon and we'll see what impact that is having on inflation overall this week. beginning thursday, we are going to get a report on producer prices, followed by the consumer price index friday. also this week the federal reserve beige book is released on wednesday, prepared ahead of the central bank's next policy setting session. and ford is recalling more than 140,000 focus compact cars. the passenger side windshield wiper can fail. a seal in the wiper motor wiring may be missing. it increases the risk of a crash. ford is saying there haven't been any crashes or injuries from the problem, but better to be safe than sorry so they are going to deal with it now. >> they are getting more and more responsive to things like that, which is nice. the price of a favorite morning staple, we'll talk about that in 30 minutes. >> thank you jess. he inspired many of us to

>> what time is that happening? >> this morning. >> if it is this morning there won't be any issue. this afternoon is a chance of a shower. the next couple of days, cool, but by the weekend, it will be warm again. feeling like march or early april because it is early april, how about that? average highs in the low 60s. mid to upper 60s with the threat of a shower this afternoon. a few more clouds this afternoon and in the morning. the winds will gust 25, 30 miles per hour, maybe 35. so another windy day ahead and with that wind, well we've got a red flag warning up for much of the region from virginia all the way up toward areas in southern new hampshire now in parts of new york state. so got a lot of the area under the red flag warning. that means burning, very dangerous. we have had all this dry air and dry conditions for the year now. actually four inches below normal since january 1. so now we've got the dry grounds, you have windy conditions and low relative

humidity. these are ripe conditions for fires to spread so please be careful if you have any outdoor burning. we are looking athe a few showers from northern indiana through ohio getting into west virginia. not even sure how much of this is reaching the ground because the air is really, really dry. in garrett county a couple of sprinkles at least try to reach the ground. it is 39 in oakland and garrett county, they have been on the chilly side. culpepper is 52. 50 in baltimore. and salisbury at 57. the wind, a lot of people went to the coast for the holidays. water temperatures are only in the low 50s right now. it was brisk, to say the least. looking outside we have clear skies, 55 degrees with a west wind at 8 miles per hour. the dew point is down to 20. now a 35-degree spread with relative humidity only 25%.

need a little hand lotion, extra drink of water, that is one of the reasons why. check this out, we have two big storms off the map. this one on the west coast up toward the pacific northwest, another big storm here in eastern canada. with enough cold air that is snowing across parts of northern maine this morning. we also have the showers coming from chicago north of indianapolis, this morning, approaching columbus, ohio. that stuff is our chance for this afternoon showers coming from that. other than that, looks like we are going to have little pieces of energy swirling around that storm in eastern canada, could give us an isolated shower mainly north of town and another chance of showers on wednesday around here. the other thing is it is going to keep us on the cool side of things. today upper 60s, the isolated shower to this afternoon and this evening. tonight we are in the 40s, we only recovered to the upper 50s tomorrow.

this goes to kentucky and southern new hampshire, rochester, buffalo. our day planner today we are looking at sunshine to start, a few more clouds this afternoon. noon time temperatures in the low 60s with a windy day. it has been windy for days now. another day west northwest 15 to 25. 66 degrees. a raindrop here. it could be an isolated shower this afternoon or this evening. up to the north and west in ohio. see the sprinkles here trying to get into garrett county. the problem around here for the showers is that the air is very, very dry. upper 40s leesburg to frederick. cumberland you are at 46 this morning winchester at 50 off to the south. lots of 50s here. i just got off the phone it is

dry and 50 degrees. we'll have to watch that this afternoon. stray showers possible, leesburg 65 and 68 here in washington. monika samtani, i thought it was going to be a nice, easy monday. a lot of people off work. but no such luck? >> reporter: i think people just let their guard down. what do you think? if you are planning to head outside you would think traffic would be lighter than normal, but wii still have since -- we still have incidents to tell you about. the first is an overturned vehicle on the ramp to the inner lap of the beltway. be aware of that if you are heading toward the tyson's area. route 7 no issues to report on the beltway down here. again it is the dulles toll road to be aware. an accident in tacoma park right near route 410.

and route 42 a stalled tractor trailer and crews are on the scene there as well. maryland 270 at falls road no issues to report here coming down from frederick. in my next report a report to those situations. back to you guys. two men will be arraigned after a deadly shooting spree in tulsa, oklahoma. >> many in that city believe this could have been a hate crime. all five victims are black. three died. one of the suspects, 19-year- old jake england. two years ago england's father was killed in an altercation with a black man and racial slurs were posted on england's facebook page the day before the shootings. >> we had a case somebody was obviously engaged in a hate crime. i think it is something we need to show the community that is also what we are charging them with okay? it could happen. we may not have it here. >> police add prosecutors will have the final say on whether

or not the speck will face hate crime charges. the fbi will also help determine when those shootings are indeed hate crimes. the maryland general asem brea finishes its 2012 legislative session by midnight tonight. house ask senate negotiators haven't reconciled different plans yet and if the budget is not passed the session will have to be extended. the gambling bill would allow table games in addition to slots and set a referendum on approving a sixth site in prince george's county. today the employees at the national zoo are hoping for an uneventful african-american family day. since 1891 easter monday at the zoo has been an historic tradition for the african-american community there. today's events run from

11:00 a.m. to 4:00 pm. last year a teenage heir tended the zoo day and they were wounded in a stabbing. police later arrested the 16-year-old suspect in the case. another famous annual tradition takes place today on the southlawn of the white house. it is the 134th annual easter egg roll. some 35,000 tickets were distributed for today's events in an online lottery. it is the third year the lottery has determined who gets the tickets. this year's theme is let's go let's play let's move. part of first lady michelle obama's efforts to improve children's fitness levels. it will include sports and cooking demonstrations. the keepsake eggs were introduced first in 1981. this year's eggs feature a picture of the first dog, bo. jessica doyle told us she was going to talk about a

breakfast staple and she is looking at orange juice. >> that's right. remember a couple of months back we were all sounding this dire warning about orange juice prices? >> don't worry so much. prices of orange juice futures have dropped to their lowest level in nearly six months. the market is seeing strong supplies and dropping demand. back in january o.j. futures his a record after the u.s. government detected an unauthorized fungicide in orange juice imports. you may see relief in your natural gas bill just as gasoline prices are spiking the natural gas market is bursting at the seems. so much -- at the seams. even is being produced, natural gas prices have hit a ten year low and are still falling. if only we could put it in our gas tanks for our cars. other cities are suffering from foreclosures and high

good morning and welcome back to 9news now. 5:45 on this easter monday. if you are heading out to the easter egg roll or doing something in your backyard, you need a windbreaker. it is chilly out there this morning. >> reporter: some 40s out there. the winds, once again, are up today. little bit later this morning the supcomes up and the winds off the surface will mix down and we could have gusts again over 30 miles per hour. so you know the routine, like it has been the last few days. breezy to windy. we start out with sunshine, this afternoon a few more clouds will roll in and we'll accompany you with a couple of showers. not everybody will see them. temperature with a high of 68 or so. want to urge you not to do any

burning today. we have red flag warnings posted from kentucky through virginia, maryland, dc, delaware, connecticut, massachusetts, most of pennsylvania, southern new york, even a sliver of southern new hampshire. all the areas are seeing abnormally dry conditions, we are about four inches below average. what we are seeing on radar is a thin line of showers from toledo headed toward morgantown. the air around here very dry. some showers are trying to get in toward garrett county, but right now they are few and far between. temperatures are running in the 50s and 40s. i understand there is a fire in shenandoah county. we are smelling smoke here in the northwest. this is a situation with very dry air in place and windy conditions and lots of dry ground. the fuel moisture con ten. won't take much to spread.

what might be overlapping normal tissues. >> reporter: dr. julianne greenburg is director of ma'am nothing guy at washington radiologist associates. >> basically what it does is take images of the breast, very thin one millimeter slices and can reconstruct those images into a three-dimensional picture of the breast. >> reporter: a woman having a 3-26789 mammogram won't notice a thing. it happens at the same time as her 2 dscan. in 2 deights flat view of the breast fro top to bottom ask side to side. moving in an arc along the breast it shows very fine breast slices at slightly different angles. the reconstructed images look like a hol gram. >> reporter: the area in this

area is in question. it is awfully difficult to detect it. it is much easier to see this lesion in the breast on the three-dimensional image. it exists right here. >> dr. greenburg says this is especially good at detecting small invasive cancer that his wouldn't be felt through a breast self exam or a clinical exam. >> if we can detect these early small invasive cancers, they can be cured. the patients can be taken care of at an earlier point and the you can assess for long-term cure of cancer is very great and this technology is very important helping us accomplish that goal. >> 3-d mammography is good for all women. especially beneficial for women with dense breasts. being able to clearly
