a high about to 75 or so this afternoon. the front is coming through but not much weather with it. don't see much in the way of clouds. a couple of showers well south of us. we may see some showers around here tomorrow, especially the southern half of the area from d.c. and points south but today dry. 59 now culpeper, manassas up to 67. hagerstown at 61. 72 on the bay and 69 at andrews. cambridge down to 60. this afternoon your highs will range from around 70 at pax river and 75 in d.c. and 72 in martinsburg. monika, it is 5:00 a.m. how is it looking? >> in virginia there is an incident right now. i was just getting word about it on the northbound side of i- 95. the beltway looks great but if you're planning to head northbound on 95, watch out. an accident just reported before lorton. two lanes are blocked right now with police on the scene. so as you head up north on northbound side of i-95, watch out for it. i'll give you details shortly on the accident.

here in chantilly. the shuttle you say is hitching a ride that is essentially because it is riding piggyback on a 747 jet and will arrive in our area around 10:00 a.m. when it does, it will fly immediately above over what is sure to be a thrilled crowd that will gather at the museum a little later today. discovery's final mission to space was back in february of last year which completed a total of 39 flights and 148 million miles traveled over a quarter of a century for the discovery. now the shuttle's next mission in retirement, to inspire generations upon generations of visitors to the museum. discovery leaves florida's kennedy space station at 7:00 this morning. it will eventually replace nasa's prototype shuttle the enterprise which has been housed here at the museum since 2004. >> for me personally, once we get discovery to the smithsonian and we've done all the work and she's ready to go

the top security clearances of 11 of its agents that were sent home from colombia last week. those agents are accused of hiring prostitutes and other misconduct. they were part of a planning team sent to cartagena ahead of president obama's arrival at the summit of the americas. slow going in the retrial of former baseball pitcher roger clemens. lawyers only got to question 13 potential jurors monday. clemens is accused of lying to congress about whether he used steroids. sometimes the little discoveries can make all the difference, especially in the middle of a disaster area. tornadoes leveled parts of wichita, kansas last week. although no one died while they were cleaning up their property, the davenport family found their cat and all of her kittens alive under the rubble. it's part of the must dos for new parents but the vast majority of people who get car seats install them improperly. that story is coming up at 5:48. in sports at 5:23, the

getting up toward ohio. some of these high clouds can be thick enough to give us an overcast. when those clouds are 15, 25, 25,000 feet, we're not going to see any rain out of them. however, the lower clouds tomorrow may give us a couple of showers, especially south of town. the farmers are looking for that. so today 5:00, we could be mostly cloudy with the high clouds. tonight partly to mostly cloudy. then tomorrow we're dry in the morning. want you to watch some of these green arrows. that's rain. as that rain moves up through southern virginia, could get close to us by lunch time, especially places like fredricksburg, down to culpeper, spotsylvania. in the afternoon and evening hours, we may see a few more showers here before this all clears out by thursday morning. thursday looks fine. we'll see temperatures recovering with the sunshine. so today 75, mild, clouds and sun. tonight we're in the 50-degree range or so. tomorrow only about 60 with a chance of showers, especially south of d.c. by thursday, though, we're back to 70 so very nice thursday.

friday looks pretty good, too. saturday some showers and storms possible in the afternoon. sunday could be a washout. if that happens, 65 may be optimistic. still a chance of a shower monday, 61. it is 5:17. here's monika with time saver traffic. a couple of incidents i need to tell you about. i'll start off with virginia where we're just getting information in about this accident in lorton on the northbound side of 95. it's just after route 1 but before lorton road. a two-car accident, minor injuries involved. we're just waiting on a tow truck. two left lanes are blocked and it is slowing down through that area to get around t. let's go a little beyond that live. this is absolutely fine once you're beyond the accident you're going to be okay headed for the beltway and 395. go back to the maps and over into the downtown area. looking great across the 14th street bridge. all the potomac and anacostia river crossings are fine. in temple hills an accident route 5 near the suitland parkway. we'll go live to the beltway north of town. traffic still moving well here

>> good morning, andrea and mike. folks are absolutely thrill to have this iconic shuttle delivered here to chin tally essential -- chantilly essentially for free. the flies from the -- the flight costs millions and nasa is waiving that fee. that's more good news for the smithsonian. after 27 years and 39 flights, discovery is now retiring and will tell its famed space story by the way it looks. battered and burned, experiments say she simply looks like a shuttle that's been to space and back. the discovery brought the first female pilot to space, the first russian shuttle flier and carried the most passengers of any space vehicle at 252. hear from some of those passengers as they said goodbye recently. >> it beckons. come o. i can take this on again. hop in and fire up and go again. >> it's sad in that we're done.

prosecutors in the affected cases. this means evidence from hundreds of cases may need retesting which could lead to exoneration for some defendants. well, you may be seeing some extra road crews around the district in the next four weeks. that is because d.c.'s annual pothole palooza campaign kicks off today. ddot is taking pothole requests by phone and online, including via twitter and the city's new dc 311 smartphone app. it year's goal is to get the pothole fixed within 48 hours of the request. the virginia assembly will vote on annual amended state budget but it's fate is up in the year. budget negotiators removed money from their compromised budget proposal. if lawmakers don't pass a budget by july 1, virginia will likely face a partial

everyone was glad to see jc hayward returning to anchor the 9news after finding a lump. she was diagnosed with cancer two weeks ago. an m.r.i. found a second mass but that turned out to be benign. she had both the cancerous and benign tumors removed last week. this week she'll have her first post offtive meeting. they'll go over the pathology report, discuss radiation therapy, possibly exeem mow and the -- chemo and the appropriate hormone therapy to prevent a recurrence. we were glad to see her back. >> the world is spinning the right way again. >> and she's got all the lipstick she'll ever need. >> we'll explain that later. a new campaign is starting to remind parents about keeping young children safe on the road. birthday time. let's see who's celebrating today.

virginia drivers. first of all the beltway looks great if you're planning to head inbound on i-66, an accident just before you get to centreville. only the right lane is getting by. you know how quickly that's going to back up as you head inbound on 66 towards centreville be aware of that accident. another one on the northbound side of i-95. this happened i would say about an hour ago on the northbound side before lorton blocking the two left lanes. the cleanup continues and look at that. it is jammed trying to get northbound right now on 95 from at least dale city going about 12 miles an hour northbound. stay to the right to get around that accident activity. let's take a live look in springfield or actually in lorton, northbound 95. this is what it's going to look like for you trying to get past the accident. we'll go a little further north in springfield now where all lanes are copy. no problems to -- are open. no problems to report through this area heading to 395 which is where we'll go live right now on the northbound side. this looks great at washington boulevard. no complaints to the 14th
