bond. >> reporter: george zimmerman walked out of the sem know county jail around midnight as he followed a man into a white vehicle and drove away to await trial for the death of 17-year-old trayvon martin. his attorney will not reveal where zimmerman will go, because of safety concerns and we have a lot of concerns over security. >> reporter: zimmerman posted 10% of $150,000 bail to get out of this jail. according to the terms of his release, he must comply with a dust to dawn curfew and wear a gps ankle bracelet to track his every movement. >> i wanted to say i am sorry for the loss of your son. >> reporter: in a dramatic gesture, zimmerman took the witness stand to apologize to martin's parents. a move his attorney denounce good it was devastating that he got to give a self-serving apology to help him get a bond. >> he claims he acted in

self-defense in the confrontation with the teenager. the initial refusal of authorities to arrest zimmerman sparked racially charged protests which spread from sanford throughout the nation. a special prosecutor brought second degree murder charges against zimmerman. randall pinkston, cbs news. dc police are searching for a group of two dogs that attacked friday. surveillance video shows the kids climbing on to a car to escape the dogs. andre hawthorne managed to draw the dogs away from the youngsters but was bitten several times. hawthorne, armed with a knife and another neighbor armed with a baseball bat, were able to make the dogs run away. today the president is scheduled to announce a plan

fellow republicans at the party's lincoln day dinner. he says president obama has failed to steer the country back to economic health and the former massachusetts governor says the president is dividing america. >> here's a look at other things making news now. the trial of the man accused of murdering three of entertainer jennifer hudson's family members starts this week. the actress's mother, brother and seven-year-old nephew were killed. william bal four faces trial in the case. the fbi has been using search dogs to search for a missing six-year-old girl in tucson, arizona. investigators say there are suspicious circumstances surrounding her disappearance, but they would not elaborate on what those are. a powerful storm we saw this weekend is working its way up the coast into the northeast.

here we go, light rain and showers today, 49, today we are back in the 40s. can't rule out an afternoon shower, isolated one tuesday. thursday more rain, 68. then finally the weekend looks milder. maybe a storm late sunday back into the 70s. it is 4:48. let's go to monika. she has timesaver traffic. >> we are going to start off with a serious accident involving a tractor trailer and two vehicles this morning at 2:00. it did leave one person dead, one person in the hospital. you are looking at the closure here on the outer loop between route 2-d, and georgia avenue. and we are told, because of the investigation, and the hazmat situation with the diesel fuel spill, it may be this way for awhile, for our morning rush hour. so, i want to tell you how to get around this. let's go over it a map, if you are planning to head over to the outer loop of the beltway as part of your morning commute,

you will want to plan early, because i'm already beginning to see delays on the westbound side of 45. on the south side you can take dale drive to the north side either the i cram cc or take route 29 to dennis or back over to the outer loop. again a very serious situation. if you are planning to led over to the other side of town, no problems to report on 95 northbound, it is just the wet road conditions. everything looks fine. coming up in my next report i of course at 4:55 will keep you posted on the situation on the beltway north of town. but first a transportation bill has been floating around congress for two and a half years. earlier this year the senate did pass a long-term $109 billion transportation bill. the house, instead passed another short-term bill last week. i spoke recently with

explorer's club. the washington national cathedral recognized earth day. members of the group blessed earth partnered with the cathedral to host the event. the goal is the commitment to be good stewards of creation. a poet led a forum on how to prepare future church leaders for environmental sustainability. the event marked a forum on integrating care into their curriculum. a former u.s. service member has traded in combat bills for dance routines. helping to train young iraqis in different forms of self expression. 35 students attended the battery dance company's course this month in iraq. the goal is to teach iraqis to express themselves to dance music. the class has been a huge success. >> being here with no body
