she suddenly stopped her car and got out and engaged in some type of altercation with someone in another vehicle. police are not sure if she knew the person in that car before the indent. >> she would go to somebody's car, she had to know them.

but she didn't know, not just going to go to your vehicle. >> police say at some point, linda was fatally struck by a vehicle which left the scene. >> i saw a woman on the ground. there was blood everywhere. there was a guy kneeling by her. >> police are looking for a dark suv, possibly a chevrolet. 21-year-old arrington was fatally struck by a car not too far from this location. just steps away from where this sign is now asking anyone who may have seen this accident to call police. the sign is within walking distance of where she lived. it's also within walking distance of where a grief stricken mother now sits brokenhearted in more ways than one. >> that's why i was in the hospital and that's why she was back and forth to the hospital. if you knew her, you knew that she was a lovable person,

because she loved everybody. >> in alexandria, armando trull, 9news now. >> medical examiner's office ruled that arrington was crushed to death. we have new information tonight in the case against former penn state assistant football coach, jerry sandusky. according to documents, there are at least 17 accusers in the sexual abuse case. that's a much higher number than previously described in criminal charges. originally, only ten victims were identified in those court documents. >> and presidential politics tonight, president barack obama officially kicked off his reelection campaign today with back to back rallies in states he'll need to win a second term. we're talking about virginia and ohio. amid chance of four more years, the president tells supporters that the nation has to keep moving forward. >> we have come too far to abandon the change we fought for these past two years.

virginia, we have to move forward to the future that we imagine. >> earlier in the day at ohio state university, the president told a crowd of some 14,000 that the country is on the rebound from recession and the country has come too far to turn back now. meanwhile, republican presidential candidate, mitt romney, met with his former rival, rick santorum in pittsburgh yesterday. it was the first sit down meeting between the two since santorum suspended his campaign last month. romney did not have any public events scheduled for today. they tried to disrupt and delay the long awaited proceeding in the guantanamo bay courtroom. the master mind of the september 11 attacks and four others face the military judge today. mohommed refused to answer any of the judges questions. a codefendant had to be put in a restraint chair. at one point, two of the defendants stood to pray. the five were charged with terrorism and the 9/11 attacks that killed nearly 3,000

people. some family members of the victims have traveled to cuba for the arraignment. suray chin talked to one family member who decided not to make that trip. >> reporter: his wife was killed at the pentagon on 9/11. he stayed behind because the trial hasn't started yet and says none of the court proceedings will bring his wife back. >> it's not going to change anything. >> thomas' wife, michelle, was on flight 77 that crashed into the pentagon. she died just shy of their 30th wedding anniversary. >> she's not just a mother, she was my best friend and lover. >> more than a decade later, we're only seeing the start of what's expected to be a long legal process. >> we are now in many respects having to relive that day. you have 3,000 families who are having to relive the months, the days, even the years of pain and suffering. >> the trial could still be months away. >> i would be naive if i said

if convicted. i'm suray chin for 9news now. >> be careful before opening that door. two men posing as cable workers forced their way into a residence. it happened tonight in the 600 block of harbor street northwest. the pair posed as comcast employees to get into the home. resident of the home managed to escape unharmed. it's unclear whether anything was taken from the residence. the suspect still at large tonight. they were last seen driving a chevy suburban, maryland tags. that number, 9a8655. anybody with information should contact d.c. police. it's almost beach season and tougher noise laws are being considered by a popular beach resort town. officials in deddeh bating whether to set limits on nighttime noise coming from bars and restaurants. noise committee chairman says it's not an attack on the bars, but bar owner says it's motivated by politics and it's

riding metro, be prepared for big delays this weekend.

track maintenance work causing service disruptions on all five lines. the biggest delays are on the green line. four stations between fort cotten and green belt are closed. passengers can expect delays of nearly an hour. metro says there will be shuttle buses. red line trains are operating on a single track between forest glenn and takoma. lookout for street closures tomorrow. the race for hope to raise money for brain cancer research will close streets in downtown washington. the 5k race starts at 9:00 in the morning from freedom plaza at 14 street and pennsylvania avenue. road closures will begin at that 5:00 mark and are expected to reopen by 11:00 a.m. street closures in southwest washington will include parts of 3rd and 4th streets. maryland avenue and independence avenue. runners will finish back at freedom plaza. >> two american hikers who were detained in iran.

across the nation's capital, a sea of pink as the avon two-day breast cancer walk got underway. hundreds of breast cancer survivors and their supporters

gathered in downtown washington to kick off the 39.3-mile two- day walk. money raised for the event -- support programs in the washington area. >> i hope to help add to the awareness of the project. i mean, we need to raise more money, raise more awareness so we can have more programs to support to people who are trying to fight breast cancer. >> i'm walking in memory of my friends and for dewey and debbie and many others. >> walkers will walk up their trek on sunday right where they started on the ground of the washington monument. it's hard to believe it's been 25 years since university of maryland great, len bise, died from a drug overdose shortly after being drafted by the celtics. he was inducted into the hall

this national cinco de mayo celebration is known as the latin american family reunion. a lot of stuff going on, including the embassy day here in town and a will the of folks were out and about. we saw a little bit of drizzle out there, but it really was a pretty good saturday. here's a look at our current conditions on the michael and son weather camera where it feels mild still out there. 67. cloudy skies. the winds are out of the east at 11 miles per hour. we saw some showers and storms. south of town, earlier today and this evening. a ltd. lot of it is dying out. north of locus, north of charlottesville and on stanton, virginia. you can see in the district, we are just looking at cloudy skies. we aren't worried about anymore showers for those parties going on tonight. our visibility, some areas of patchy fog possible overnight and tomorrow morning. already in culpeper, we're

seeing reports of fog. visibility 4 miles. orange 2 1/2 miles. but around the beltway, no fog being reported right now. temperatures pretty nice outside. 64 in gaithersburg. 67 in downtown. upper 60s in fredericksburg. most of us are in the 60s and we'll cool down a little bit overnight. dew point, take a look at these, still sticky out there. 60 in downtown. 61 up in frederick. even 66 in orange. we will start to see the dew points go down tomorrow through monday and tuesday. so we will get a break from that humidity. our satellite radar picture, you can see the showers and storms to the south of us and we'll see high pressure come back in. we'll see some cloudy conditions, but we should be dry. so patchy fog for your early sunday morning. otherwise, not as warm though. we aren't talking 80s for sunday afternoon. nice again for your monday and unsettled for tuesday in the form of showers and maybe a couple of thunderstorms.
