could be on the hook for damage that is closed indefinitely popular store out on jefferson davis highway. >> clogged sewer lines caused a backup. gary nurenberg is there now to bring us up to speed on the cleanup. gary. >> reporter: well, anita, the harris peter will be closed in indefinitely while the company sanitizes and resets the store. no layoffs. employees will be assigned to other stores while the repairs take place. cleanup crews work into the night to deal with the reported 2-3 inches of sewage that coated the floor of the store. the grocery sits below a building filled with condos and other retail stores that did not suffer the backup, although residents lost water for about six hours and have been told to reduce water use until tomorrow morning. >> you can smell the sewage in the garage and solve the hallways. obviously sewage. >> reporter: the building is close to the arlington county department of environmental services water pollution control plant where sewage lines are cleaned on a regular

basis. but today suction lines became clogged with debris prior to scheduled cleaning causing the backup which crews repaired restoring normal sewage flow earlier this evening. county sewage officials said repairs could only cost 5-10 thousand 5-$10,000 but the cost of repairs at harris peters could be more and given the cause it may essentially be county taxpayers that foot the bill. derek and anita. >> gary, what a mess. any idea on why this happened? gary nurenberg yes. it's so basic it's stupid. people flush the wrong things down their toilet. there's a schedule to get the material out. schedules worked the last 8 8 years. it didn't this time. rags and debris, build up, cause the pipe to backup, county officials go in and clean them out. now they're going to readjust the schedule. >> a word of warning to all of us. thank you, gary. not enough boom boom in the bedroom. that's what one arlington area

pastor says is leading to some spoiled marriages. and now he's out there encouraging married couples to turn up the heat. our ken molestina is here to explain just why this particular pastor is taking this on. ken. >> derek, that boom boom you're talking about. the pastor says he sees it all the time. not enough of it within married couples. and that's why some of their marriages fall apart. but now the pastor is letting everyone know god thinks it's okay for married couples to have sex and lots of it. puz muse that sexual healing >> reporter: is it sexual healing or some kind of devine intervention. >> when the bible talks about that, they're talking about sex. >> reporter: if you ask the pastor, he'll tell you sex is one of the most important keys to a healthy marriage. >> god gave us a manual right in the middle of the bible the song of salomon eight chapters long and it's all about romance and sex and passion. >> reporter: so he's heating things up within his own congregation. preaching a series he calls smoking hot.

other hot, then you don't have to look for that. you have a good future. >> reporter: pastor john insists this isn't a stunt to get more numbers in his church. he says he's been preaching the series for three weeks now and he has five more weeks of this left. derek. >> all right, ken. well, new at 11:00, a no vote on a proposal to charge a fee for calling an ambulance in montgomery county. today the county council public safety committee voted 2-1 not to recommend this bill. the full county is now expected to -- counsel is now expected to vote on it. voters rejected the fee back in 2010. two young girls in tennessee are finally spending their first night home with their dad after a kidnapping or deal that included the murderers of their mother and older sister. their cap ture took his own life when police were focusing in but the suspect's death is not the end of the investigation. 12-year-old alexandria and 8-

year-old kylea bain is reunited with what is left of their family. the mother and older sister were killed last month. adam mayes buried the bodies on his properties in mississippi and took the little girls on the run. they were found in the woods not far from his home on thursday. >> i believe they had been three days without food and water and eat up with poison ivy. . >> authorities noticed the girls and then could see a gun in his hand. >> i let my team know there was a weapon involved. >> he shot himself in the head and was pronounced dead. his estranged brother johnny discussed a possible motive for the crimes. >> he thought the youngest two girls were his. >> johnny maze also said his brother controlled members of their family. >> anyone that was directly involved with adam pretty much lived in fear. >> investigators are still piecing together the details of

the girls' i don't remember deal. ordeal. >> when these children get to where they can speak and calm down, they'll be able to tell us. >> bm mayes's mother is behind bars. >> a spokesman says the fbi ask the girls in and out be out in public but they will be speaking with investigators about the whole or deal tomorrow. the man convicted of killing jennifer hudson's family will spend the rest of his life behind bars. they found william balfour guilty in the 2008 killings. and in illinois, that carries a mandatory life sentence without the chance for parole. prosecutors say balfour killed hudson's mom, brother and 7- year-old nephew in a fit of rage after his marriage to hudson's sister fell apart. in alabama, a 14-year-old boy is now charged with murder after his half sister was

hanging from a tree. the 9-year-old girl was found last night right near the house where they both lived with a foster family. the cotton rope the girl was hanging from was not a noose. instead, it was tied in a figure 8-knot and it came from a rope that had been used for a tire swing. . >> it's definitely intentional. i won't call it an accident. it was an intentional situation from the information we received. so that's why he's charged with murder. >> now, prosecutors still have not did ecided whether or not that brother will be charged as an adult or a juvenile. so far, though, investigators have no motive for this. beaten, robbed and sexually assaulted right outside the front door of a school. tonight the victim is in the hospital. her two attackers out there somewhere. the 50-year-old woman was jumped early this morning under the portico of the holy brook school in maryland, virginia. afterwards, the two men ran away and the victim basically

dragged herself into traffic on a nearby road. she flagged down a driver for help. police spent the day searching for clues. as for neighbors, you can imagine their reaction. >> shocked and scared. definitely going to keep my dogs locked until the persons are caught because that's something that does not happen in this area. >> so far police have not been able to give us sketches of these suspects they're looking for or even a detailed description. in baltimore, a mixed verdict today for a campaign consultant accused of sending out calls to suppress black voters. julia henson had worked with bob you are lick urlicl in the 2010 -- urlich in the 2010 election. they found him not guilty on the more serious charge of trying to influence the voter's decision of whether or not to go to the poll. he'll be sentenced next month. . welcoming the first lady michelle obama at virginia tech today. mrs. obama delivered the commencement address to the class of 2012. and in it she praised the graduates for the strength and resilience they've shown following the deadly mass shootings at school back in 2007. 2007. >> like so many people across this country and around the world, i have been following the journey of this school. i have witnessed the strength and spirit of the hoe hoek ee nation. hokie nation. and i think you all already have learned plenty of lessons here at virginia tech. in fact, i feel all of you have so much to teach all of us. forget the flowers, the chocolates and the jewelry this mother's day. for one mom, a chance to see the boy she gave up for adoption more than 40 years ago is giving her more smiles than any other gift could. our ken molestina was at the emotional reunion that was long overdue. . >> i have been trying to keep my stomach out of my throat all day long. >> reporter: genoa allen is just moments away from a reunion that until now she had only dreamed of. she's about to meet her son for

the first time in 41 years. >> when i was 19, i got pregnant and was single. placed him for adoption. we didn't have contact after that. >> reporter: all those years apart, this mother had never stopped thinking about her son. every time she moved or changed her number, she would alert the adoption agency hoping one day her first born child would reach out to her. little did she know late last year, he had begun looking for her. just a few weeks ago, he found her and she got the call. >> he called me on his 41st birthday, which was april 19th. >> reporter: they've been in touch since and arranged their first meeting here at the estate in richmond. the city he was born in. after 41 years, the wait was over. andy gadd met his birth mother face-to-face. and like a true gentleman of the son, he didn't come empty- handed offering his mother a flower. >> wrong side. my heart kind of fell out of my chest and my stomach went to my

throat and it was just simply amazing. >> reporter: he says it was a book he's been holding on to that finally made him decide to look for his biological mother. >> i started thinking about that time in 1971 and what girls like that went through back in those days if they became pregnant out of wed wlok. and the choice that they had to make. and i just wanted to thank you for giving me life. >> reporter: the mother and son hope their picture perfect moment gives others hope. >> this son and mother have a lot of catching up to do. first order of business they say is getting andy to meet his four younger brothers. in richmond, ken molestina, 9news now. >> well, from that awesome mother and child reunion, let's turn to a special gift from child to mom. craig has donated to his mom a kidney that will save her life. the result of radiation treatments she received for leukemia back in the 70s. her husband and other son

offered their kidneys but craig was the one that was the perfect match. >> my brother said, man, what are you doing. you're really raising the bar on mother's day presents this year. >> i'm grateful i could do it. it worked out really well and here we are and it's mother's day and mom is feeling pretty good. >> this is the ultimate mother's day gift. . >> some 93,000 people are waiting for kidney transplants in this country. unfortunately, the gap between organ supply and organ demand grows every day. okay. so mother's day now is just 36 36 hours away. if you still have no idea what you're getting mom, sorry, can't help you there. but derek has some pretty straightforward thoughts on what you ought to stay away from. >> yes, anita, the tee thing to remember here is -- key thing to remember here is it's mother's day. make mom feels good. that means you get points for trying hard. up until about the age of 9. after that, you need to come strong. okay. first of all, never buy mom anything that insults her. that means no gym memberships,

no workout videos and most of all no deodorant. category two, nothing that makes mom work. kitchen appliances and pets, bad idea. but by far, the worst offender, breakfast in bed. sure. you mean well. but unless you're planning to clean up, i'm telling you, this is not the egg mick muffin of mother's day presents. second, nothing for you, fellahs. no big tv. and no tickets to see the a ven jerz in imax -- a ven a vengers in imax. don't buy her a really bad hat. and look here, clueless, no gift certificates. she's your mother, for god sake, and no says i love you, mom, like i have no idea what you really want so i gave up and gave you this. but the number one gift, you should never, ever buy mom, lingerie. because even if she does look like this, let's be real, from

the clerk suffered serious burns. the whole thing caught on camera. it was a dispute over 2 dollars and $2.40. the customer says he paid the tab. the clerk says, no, you didn't. right after the assault, the shop owner confronted that customer. well, when it comes to riding the waves, it does not get any bigger or any better than this. take a look at what this surfer did. he's riding a 78 footer off the coast of portugal. that is what they call gnarly, dude. and the folks that put it out say, yes, that is a record. but it almost didn't happen. he didn't even really want to surf the day he caught that wave. but he went out anyway. so you never know what is going to happen unless you go out. >> how do you make it back up to the top when it comes crashing down? >> that is a beast. >> he was right out of there. >> you have to cut it. >> i think it's safe to say he's an expert.
