there this weekend. monika samtani weather-wise all systems go. how about on the roads? you know what? actually we have one serious accident we've been working the phones this morning the find out the information. and if you are planning to head over into bowie you want to know about it. it's on route 197 as you head for the ramp for route 0. it's a three car accident. i'd say it happened about an hour ago and it is is a serious one. all lanes are blocked and you'll have to follow police direction to get around this one in bowie route 197 at route 50. 50 itself is not affected. you're going to be okay to cheverly and northeast d.c.. we'll take a look outside live right now and if you're planning to head into maryland, here at the beltway near route 201 you will be just fine, no problems on the beltway. eastern stretch between 95 and the wilson bridge. back over to the maps, this time another accident. this one just reported on the beltway. north side of town in bethesda on the inner loop near route 355. i couldn't see it in the cameras 270 is fine and

jermantown and down to the inner loop. just be aware of possible activity. coming up in my next report, update on that as 5:09. the leaders of the g-8 nations are arriving in washington and then they're going to camp david for that big economic summit later today. >> schools in frederick county, maryland are closed to help deal with the traffic. there's a heavy police presence and the summit also drew protestors. 9news now reporter delia goncalves is live at the protest site? frederick with more -- in frederick with more. good morning. >> reporter: good morning andrea and mike. you know protestors and police are expecting a very business zeh weekend ahead. we're here in baker park. it is dark now and quiet but you can expect thousands of protestors to be gathering here. that's because the two camp grounds closest to camp david have been shut down. for the summit. the g-8 summit will be held about 20 miles away. the small town of thurmont is

the closest community. folks hire and in neighboring frederick are bracing themselves for a very busy weekend including an all-out traffic nightmare. police say they are going to have more men and women on the streets for the first time. a joint council of officers from eight different maryland agencies including local universities like morgan state university, and baltimore and university of maryland, they will all be here working to keep the peace. >> most cities that get notified about an event like this get two years planning time. we've had actually eight weeks. it's really, really been a hard assignment, a tough assignment. this is unlike anything we've ever seen in frederick county. >> it's a lot of protestors down here. and you know, you just don't know who's who. >> we have some plywood that in case we get a broken window. >> reporter: now, there is no indication of violence but as you can hear from the last soundbyte some shop owners are bracing themselves for the

possibility of some violence. we're even hearing they're chaining down some of the trash cans and water meters covers that could possibly be used as weapons if something breaks out. but of course not everyone is expecting is doomsday scenario here in town. we'll have the positive side coming up at 5:30. back to you. >> all right, delia goncalves reporting live from frederick county. maryland. now a jail officer in prince william is in some hot water. investigators say ralph justice plotted to have another man arrested and thrown in jail where will he says the plan was he would be subject to a sexual assault. we're told justice was working with another man named michael rusinack and that he intended -- the intended victim was the son of a woman who had been in a relationship with rusinack. both men are now in custody. former d.c. councilman harry thomas jr. has one month of freedom left. our bruce johnson has learned that thomas will serve his time

in montgomery, alabamament he must report there on june 20th. thomas was sentenced to 38 months in prison for stealing more than $350,000 meant for city youth sports programs. it's 5:05. will mr. mark zuckerberg have to change the from file picture? >> jessica doyle is here with something going up and down on wall street. >> suckerberg is going to be making it rain. facebook could have its way i can bet you it would not pick if public debut in the middle of the greek debt crisis? right? but we can't control for everything. the mood of the max lately has been some stocks lower. the dow has been down in 11 of the past trading sessions dropping 6% so far in may. this is its first losing month since september. now we will have to see if the facebook ipo can lift the mood of the market today. fingers crossed. now checking the numbers, remember dow 13,000? forget about it --

now to ipo day for facebook. today of course the company becomes a publicly traded stock. it priced its shares last night at the top of the range at $38. this transition comes at a time when the social media empire approaches a billion users but the overwhelmabling majority can't get in on the initial market action. big banks get the first crack and users probably won't feel a thing. >> it's not like we're going to wake up on monday and it's going to be a whole new world when we log in. on the inside facebook is going to be seeing some particularly tough expectations to crank out as much money as possible from us. >> now going forward users may see new new ads or new paid experiences but not immediately. ceo mark zuckerberg will now be accountable to shareholders who

will get irritated when users get irritated. that could mean fewer of those layout changes and perhaps, perhaps, more attention to privacy. so something like timeline for example that was -- incredibly controversial. you would see zuckerberg potentially getting more heat from big blocks of shareholders. >> things that wound up ruling by committee because there's a big committee now. >> it's a big company now, expenses we've seen have been spiking, not the little start- up it was six years ago. >> they said with the privacy issue the ads that most of us don't pay attention to, will they still be able to share our information with those advertisers? >> absolutely. you know those privacy issues are not going away anytime soon. because that's potentially its biggest pocket of monetary out there besides -- the ad revenue model people have question marks about it. >> gm just pulled out recently.

going to be a great gorgeous spectacular afternoon around here. we're looking at the -- all the day planner. 52 gaithersburg. it's also 43 in frederick maryland. low 50s in fredericksburg and upper 50s from our patuxent river naval air station there in southern maryland. cold spots loudoun county 43 lovettsville. 46 reston. 48 in columbia and crofton now to andrews. 47 in fort belvoir. so definitely a brisk out there this morning. about a half hour or so before the sunrise. we've got clear skies for the most part. a light east wind at 5 miles an hour and that barometer continues to rise 30.14. this is what i'm talking about down here low pressure spinning off the south carolina, north carolina coast. some showers continue to come on shore in the outer banks and southeastern north carolina. a few high clouds coming up toward us but what's giving up the nice weather protecting us

here for the next couple of days this area of high pressure. that as low pressure comes up the coast it's sort of going to give it a little kick inland late into the weekend and early next week. the futurecast nice and quiet today. it will be nice and quiet for tonight as well. and your saturday morning starts out great. going for a run early? want to work in the yard, no problems here on saturday. don't forget the sunscreen. 6:00 p.m. still high and dry. but look how these clouds here on sunday, start to work their way west toward the coast. and even by lunchtime, this may be a little bit farther west than what we're showing. we have to watch especially south and east of town and see if the coast will have an influence over the weekend or hold off until next week. at the air show this weekend it looks great. 75 today. upper 70s sad. and even -- saturday. and even sunday looking great too. pretty good with a few more clouds perhaps in the afternoon in the upper 70s. sundays around 80 in d.c.. late shower east possible. monday a few showers 77 and then a chance at least for a

few showers or storms tuesday, wednesday and thursday. upper 70s to around 80 or so. it's 5:17. here's monika with timesaver traffic. well, we've been trying to figure out what's going on in the rosslyn area. we're getting word of a water main break that could be affecting several roads within the rosslyn area. so you want to be aware of that. watch out for some activity. in the meantime, again, as you head into rosslyn a report of a water main break. we'll go outside live right now show you what it looks like if you're planning to head inbound on i-66 as you can see very quiet inside the beltway through falls church and in towards rosslyn. same story on 66 outside the beltway from manassas to centreville and vienna. this time route 0, route 50 is a fine coming in from bowie but a long-standing serious accident in bow rhee on route 197 approaching route 50. the lanes are blocked with the accident investigation. three vehicles involved and of

several road closures. and have about a three to four block radius shut down in rosslyn directly next to the rosslyn metro station. >> so you do have road closures within the rosslyn area near north moore street. do you have police directing traffic? what should people expect for the rush hour? >> caller: they should expect to see a lot of emergency vehicles. police aren't directing traffic right now. the rosslyn metro station is temporarily closed at this time. we have engineers down there checking that facility to make sure it will be safe for the morning commute. >> the ross lynn metro is closed at this time and you have road closures around the area. keypad posted on the station -- cope us posted on the situation. -- keep us posted on the situation. >> caller: yes, ma'am. >> thank you very much. that water main break on north mor street also affecting the rosslyn metro station. it is closed at this point as they check things out. i don't think that should be the situation for too much longer in terms of the rosslyn

morning delia. >> reporter: good morning mike. this is actually where they're permitted to gather so we are hoping that the protestors will rally here at baker park. however there is no word on exactly how many protestors to expect. it could be upwards to thousands. but we can tell you for sure many are already here in town getting a head start. the g-8 summit will be held about 20 milesaway and the two parks have been shut down as a precaution. the towns of thurmont and frederick are getting ready for all this action. the last time a major event was held at camp david was the mideast peace talks during the clinton administration in 2000. before that, jimmy carter in 1978 but of course, the g-8 summit is a much larger event sure to draw thousands of folks here and while some businesses have shut down because of the pocket of unruly protestors others are hoping to cash in on the extra crowds. some diners even planning

funnel their customers in certain directions. >> they are definitely changing the way they're doing things recently. we were talking about the data service plan yesterday. today, if people have dsl service from verizon which could impact them. as of may 6th, they're going back earlier this month, upgrading and moving verizon dsl internet users are being required to also purchase a landline telephone service package. you can't pick and choose anymore. a senator has already written to verizon slamming this decision. verizon just struck a deal with comcast and time warner cable to sell wireless service to their customers. cnn reports the move to reduce competition seems a little quote suspicious. and new problems for groupon. the "wall street journal" reports a regulator is examining trading in groupon that sent its shares soaring before reporting profits. groupon is not commenting. the stock was up almost 19% in

trading on monday. before the daily deals company announced better than expected first quarter earnings after the close of trading. it happened on monday afternoon. just in time for tanning season, a list of the best and worst sunscreens has just been released. the 2012 sunscreen guide by the environmental working group gives tips on what to buy and what to avoid. it says the best choice if you want to look for sunscreens labeled broad spectrum. these are products that guard against uva and uvb rays, both have been found to cause skin cancer and look for sun protection factor spf of at least 15 but don't bother to pay for higher than 50. now you know when you go to the drugstore. >> up can't put the label on higher than 30 anymore? >> it really doesn't matter. >> i think it was like recommendations, but you can still go out and find spf 255. >> i'm a sucker and i still buy the stuff anyway. >> oh mike. >> remember 20 minutes later put more on.

between there. >> airman, have you seen the show before? i mean what is -- one of the most exciting things when you attend this show? >> actually, yeah. i was here last year with my first air show. probably and last year the main attraction was the thunder birds. and just -- just seeing them perform, seeing you know how much -- how much goes into that performance you know. these guys, they train for this. they're awesome at their job. this year is actually celebrating 100 years of marine corps aviation. so our performers like the main performer is going to be the navy blue angels. they're going to be performing at 3:00 and we have the army parachute team performing at 12:00. we have the raptors and the herring and yeah lots of other displays. tons of stuff to see. definitely -- definitely suggest someone everyone come out and see the show. >> all right, airman we can see the enthusiasm on your face. and in your voice.

cleveland is 42. some very crisp air which has sort of sunk down toward us. 57 ocean city and also at national. but look at up to the north with gaithersburg at 46. columbia, college park have dipped into the upper 40s. over at andrew also 48. so a chill on the tarmac this morning. reston 45 and the cold spot northern loudoun county right now lovettsville at 42 degrees. just a few minutes before sunrise on the michael & son weather camera. so lots of light out there now. 57 degrees. a few high clouds and a light east wind currently 5 miles an hour. winds will be east to northeast. showers out west. not too concerned with them in the short-term. for us we've got high pressure up in new england that's going to build in for a couple of days. but it's this area of broad low pressure off the georgia south carolina coast. you can see sort of the very loose broad counterclockwise circulation? that's going to work its way northeast and then perhaps back toward the west. retrograde toward us. as we go into the early part of next week. thanks to the highs which is up in new england.

morning howard. that's for sure. i'm going to start off with a very serious accident or actually let's start off with the water main break. we've been telling you about this for the last half hour or so in rosslyn and it's affecting 29th street between lynn and fort meyer drive. a live look out into rosslyn. there are street those yours for about a four block radius around the block. by the way the rosslyn metro station remains open and that's good news for you drivers. but the buss are detoured through the area because of the closure. if you are planning to head into rosslyn, be careful with that water main break again in rosslyn. let's go back over to our maps many this time we're going to over to bowie. this accident's been here i'd say for a couple of hours. three cars involved. we'll go to the sky 9 shot. and show you what it looks like live here route 197 north of route 50. watch out for the detour in place. you'll want to go ahead and use

martin is here now and he's going to tell us more about the story. this is about a soldier coming home suffering with ptsd and a special bond right? >> he's coming home and she's suffering from experiences of war in afghanistan. he befriends this young boy who lives next door to him and through a set of tragic sixes he ends up in charge of the boy for a few days. and it's a story of two lost souls who find redemption together and essentially become father and son. >> and how did you -- we were talking in the break, how did you actually come upon this story? >> i had been meeting a lot of soldiers returning home. a lot of them my friends who were doing multiple deployments and i was just really affected by their stories. and by how combat was affecting them and how being back home was affecting them. and then also this -- this boy i knew when i was a boy. and i kind of put those two together into this dramatic narrative. and here we are premiering in d.c. >> here's the footage right now. this seems like such is

compelling project. how long does it take? >> we actually shot in about 19 days which is a very fast schedule. and we worked with the young boy and a dog and -- the number of other challenges. but we -- we really pulled it off. we had a stellar cast with laura, charles sutton. a. j. cook, audrey anderson. we really gathered a group of super talented actors that real showed up and brought their heart and a. game to the film. >> how long is the film? >> it's an hour and 45 minutes. >> oh wow. so it's standard length of a feature film. >> yes, absolutely. >> how do you feel now that it's all done? have you seen audience reaction at all at this point? >> yes, we've had private screenings in los angeles for veterans and had a tremendous response from them and also a few private screenings for test audiences and things like that and got an overwhelmingly positive response. so we feel very confident and we really believe in this film you know in terms of its message to the world and we are going to work very hard to

we have a special buddy check for you this morning. women helping women the goal of the new initiative being launched at the howard university cancer center. it's called women of promise. the project is funded over the next two years by a $200,000 grant from komen. >> sylvia jones? >> the target group is women ages 24 to 74 with an aggressive outreach to those

living in ward 7 and 8. >> we're especially looking for those women who have not had screening in the past two years and they have been discorrected and we want to get them back into care. >> the project director carla williams says volunteer ambassadors will be buddies to at least to of their peers. they'll encourage and support them in getting a mammogram and educate them about early detection as a healthy choice for life. >> we see that d.c. really still experiences a lot of cancer health disparities especially when it comes to breast cancer. so for example a woman living in ward 5 or ward 8 is twice as likely to die from breast cancer compared to someone living in ward 3. so because of that we figured that one of the best ways to reach women was with other women they already know and trust. >> women of promise hopes to reach more than 2,000 women having at least 70% of them actually getting a mammogram will be a clear measure of success. >> that's really a tall order because women often times even if we reach them with
