summit later this weekend in chicago. first, the leaders head to camp david for the g-8 economic summit. the financial crisis in europe is the focus of that meeting. >> this is an issue of extraordinary importance not only to the people of europe, but also to the world economy. >> president obama has another message he is carrying to leaders of the world's biggest economic powers. the importance of fighting hunger and malnutrition. friday morning, president obama announced $3 billion in private money to help curb hunger in africa. >> also critical to focus on the urgent challenge that confronts some 1 billion men, women, and children around the world. the injustice of chronic hunger. >> president obama went to the g-8 summit pushing for food security. he left with $22 billion in pledges. this year, he plans to press

young, held a meeting with some occupy organizationers in the weiss grocery store parking lot. >> are you hearing their message? >> the message is of frustration and that message probably is heard everywhere in this country. >> scott broom, 9news now. now to my colleague in frederick. >> thanks. here in frederick, one city police officer told me totally under welming. at this point, that is the extent of the protests. bad language was about the worst of it as a couple of dozen protesters marched through downtown frederick. frederick police say they have to prepare for anything. police were particularly worried about a group they call the black block. anarchists, like a woman who would only give her name as nancy m. >> are you planning on breaking any windows?

>> i'm not even going to answer that. >> frederick's police chief tells me there's no such thing as over preparing. he's actually asking the feds to pay for some of his officer's overtime. but i'm not sure that this is going to help him make his case. in frederick, bruce leshan, 9news now. >> even though the summit moved out of chicago, protesters are still in the windy city ahead of those nato meetings. today, a group of nurses held a rally for the 99%. they are calling on a change in economic policies here in the u.s. and around the world to pay more attention to healthcare needs. now we are hoping everything stays peaceful this weekend, but we are ready if it does not. when we're not on the air, you can log on to wusa9.com for the latest from the summit. derek. well lesli, all that hype, all that buildup and today the facebook hit the market with its initial public offering. but by the closing bell, the stock finished up 23 cents.

one analyst says she doesn't view that flat performance as a failure, just that the stock was priced appropriately. an update on some breaking news. two people shot at the rockville metro station this afternoon. ken molestina is here with more and gives us an update. ken. >> reporter: police say that shooter was targeting another 16-year-old boy when that gunfire broke out. a second victim was hit. that's an 18-year-old female. both of them are expected to be okay. we want to go ahead and show you some video. video you are only going to see here on 9news now. we were there on the ground when police arrested the suspected shooter at a gas station three blocks away. police believe this is the young man that is their gunman. they say they were able to catch up with him quickly and they did recover the gun used in this shooting. again, police say he targeted one of his victims. that's something police investigators are going to have

to try and figure out. metro police, rockville city police and montgomery county police all responded out here to the scene. they are investigating this case. they say it took them about 8 minutes from the time the phone call went out for the shots fired until the time the suspect was in custody. 8 minutes is all it took them. they also say they are looking for a second person of interest. that person, however, has not been found. we're live in rockville. 9news now. >> thank you. it now looks certain a legal dispute over a maryland law is headed to the supreme court. the highest court in maryland ruled last month that officers can no longer collect dna samples when they arrest a suspect. maryland attorney general asked the court to reconsider that ruling. the court has said no. the next option, the u.s. supreme court. another big decision for maryland's highest court. it says gay couples can get a divorce in maryland even though maryland does not currently allow same sex marriage.

>> the sound of hecklers. they were graduating students standing up for the secretary of health and human services at georgetown university today. kathleen was heckled as she addressed the school's public policy institute. i'm kristin fisher at georgetown university where outside, about 20 catholics protested her speech. they say she persecutes the church, yet georgetown welcomes her. >> the cause of the scandal is that the catholic university inviting a proabortion politician. >> some information on life and why we're here? >> i don't like that. >> well we like life. >> at issue, is the support of obama care. specifically the law that requires employers to provide contraception coverage even if it's against their religious beliefs. >> it really is attacking our religious freedom and our catholic faith. >> university officials say she wasn't selected to talk policy. she is talking about her life

snacks and drinks along the way. it looks like fewer people are pedaling around in general in our region. just in time for its second birthday. announced last night it surpassed the 2 million ride mark. the group has more than 160 stations in the district and arlington. with more than 1500 bikes you can rent. metro says some riders helped to give it an early warning about doors opening when they shouldn't on a red line train. the transit agency says the technician met that train at union station for another problem. that's when some riders said the doors were opening while the train was moving. sot technician closed off that car, but still left it as part of the train. then between the stations, the doors open on another car. that train was taken out of service for further car inspections. on thursday, drivers who took the toll road connecting dulles airport with leesburg helped to raise $260,000 for local organizations. this was the dulles greenway's

it's 117th running of the preakness. all right, we'll break it down for you. early on saturday, 48 to 58. sunshine. 70s by noon and then mid 70s to around 80 by evening. just simply great. next three days, clouds come in on sunday. got to keep a chance for a shower late in the day east of i-95. better chance for showers on monday, but still mild. temperatures in the upper 70s. next seven days, as we go through the week, an increasing chance of a shower and thunderstorm, especially tuesday and wednesday. we stay warm though. temperatures around 80. low 80s on thursday, maybe a left over shower and don't look now, a touch of june next friday. temperatures in the upper 80s. >> nice. this is going to be a great weekend. barbecue. >> absolutely. this is good baseball weather. this is a good beatdown baseball weather. i think we should beat down those guys. that's what they are saying. throwing down the smack down for the first time in a while.
