there could be a heavy downpour. sunny breaks as well with 73 by noon. mid- to upper 70s, maybe near 80 if we can get enough sunny breaks. we're looking again at decent conditions at the moment with light rain at national. want to show you this. see the showers and storms last night. this is what really dumped anywhere from 3 to 4 inches of rain over prince william county. this morning what's left of that is sort of slowly drifting south and east. you see a couple of sprinkles along i-95, especially in prince william county. northern neck to southern and southwestern charles county seeing some of those showers track toward st. mary's. temps in the 60s will again be in the upper 70s to near 80 before the day is out. monika santami, it's 5:00 a.m. we've had issues overnight with the heavy rains. anything else going on? yes. we have an accident south of dale city. virginia state police have arrived on the scene on the southbound side of i-95 just after dale city in the two left

lanes. you want to stay over to the right to get by. northbound 95 it may attract some attention but the lanes are open on the northbound side with the rush hour flow. so keep that in mind for your travel plans. we were telling you about road closures from the heavy rains overnight and yesterday. a couple of charms are nokesville road at aidan road and lee highway at groveton road. that one has been reopened. be careful. give yourself a few extra minutes. we'll take you outside live. taking a live look at 95 northbound at dale boulevard. another one a little further north as you travel into springfield. you're going to be okay. just a bit of volume forming right now. a quick look at beltway north of town. if you're planning to head into silver spring, you're going to be okay. we'll take a live liewp there. all lanes -- live up there. all lanes are open. another update at 5:09. it's an investigation that's been going on for more than a year now. and today we're expecting the first guilty plea connected to d.c. mayor vincent gray's 2010

election campaign. >> the campaign aide is now admitting to making illegal campaign contributions and destroying some evidence. 9news now reporter delia goncalves joins us live at the wilson building with more on the story. good morning, delia. >> reporter: good morning, mike. it's been a very long year. i was here at the wilson building more than a year ago when a barely known candidate barged into the mayor's news conference alleging that he was promised a high paying job only to get fired and then days later those explosive claims that he was actually paid by gray's campaign. well, it appears after a year of his antics brown may have been on to something, at least that's what the charges against thomas gore indicate. gray's close friend and campaign aide is accused of making money orders totaling more than $500 signed in other people's names and then given to suleman brown.

he's also accused of destroying records proving that those payments were made. >> gray's campaign specifically mayor vincent gray gave me cash and money orpds to maintain my campaign for mayor, cover living expenses, and attack then mayor fenty during the 2010 mayoral race. >> people who engage in wrongdoing, they need to be held accountable. >> it's deeply troubling. i know tom gore. he's a standup guy that's done a lot on behalf of the city and children. he's always been a really good guy. the charges are shocking. >> reporter: that of course is council member tommy wells reacting to this plea deal we're expecting later today in federal district court. what he has to say about the city and the future of these growing allegations and that controversy coming up at 5:30. mike, andrea, back to you. >> delia goncalves with that live update from outside the wilson building. their job was to keep our air clean.

instead two former inspectors at the district of columbia department of the environment took cash bribes in return for not reporting serious issues. a judge has sentenced joe parish and gregory scott to a year in prison for demanding and receiving $20,000. as part of their plea agreements, both men agreed to never apply for another government job. marion barry issuing yet another apology, this time for comments he made last month from a hospital bed. d.c. council member was treated for a blood clot at a hospital in las vegas and he says the clot formed while he was traveling to a retail convention with mayor vin certainty gray and some other -- vincent gray and some other members. he thanked the kind filipino hospital staff and also wrote, i stand corrected. last month he mentioned filipino immigrants when he was discussing concerns about how not enough locals were entering nursing and teaching professions.

d.c. police have found 6- year-old jayvon brown in good condition and reunited him with his mother. he had been missing for almost 24 hours. police video shows another woman leading the boy away from his apartment in columbia heights. no word on what charges the woman could face. the montgomery county board of education announced a tentative agreement with three employee associations. the settlement provides workers with an average salary increase of 3.4%. employees will be asked to shell out higher co-pays for their health care. montgomery county public school employees have not received a cost of living increase for the past three years. if this is ratified, the school board will vote on the settlements coming up on june 4. 5:05. time for the latest your money report of the morning. let's check the numbers now. jessica doyle is here with the headlines. >> good morning. we're hoping one day is the start of a trend. we're talking about of course stocks rebounding from their

worst week of the year. we can thank upbeat economic data, a stock surge by apple and a touch of optimism about the situation in europe. all that seemed to help. check be the numbers the dow standing this morning at 12,504 added 135 pounds in trading yesterday. nasdaq had a great day up 68 points. the s&p 500 was better by 21. pay those traffic tickets or else you could be paying another way. starting next year not paying your traffic tickets in d.c. could hurt you at tax time. the washington examiner reports that d.c.'s preliminary bucket would allow the city to reduce tax refunds for d.c. residents who owe the dmv. that would apply to outstanding car tax, fees and fines. the move could bring in an estimated $2.5 million each year. and coffee drinkers prps the best news you're going to hear all day. brazil's is the world's biggest coffee grower and it's expected to produce a record amount of coffee in the 2012-2013 growing

they are both along the left side of the road with virginia state police on the scene. coming up in my next report, another update on flooding conditions as well at 5:17. back to you. here's what's making news now at 5:10. in southeast virginia, police have filed kidnapping and assault charges in a really bizarre incident involving a 15- year-old girl. listen to this. county investigators say four adults in their 40s including the girl's legal guardians tied her to a tree at a campground and threw eggs and beer on her. the child is now in the care of social services. prosecutors say they will appeal the 30-day jail sentence handed down to a former rutgers university student. the student used a web cam to record his roommate kissing another man. prosecutors wanted him to get closer to the maximum ten-year sentence. his roommate tyler clementi committed suicide days after ravi posted the video online. it was a year ago today a tornado killed 161 people in

joplin, missouri. thousands of buildings were destroyed including joplin, high school. the school was relocated to a strip mall. president obama delivered the school's commencement address last night. he told graduating seniors they're a source of inspiration. they have rocky pasts but a local organization is helping men with a criminal history become better fathers. local catholic groups join a lawsuit challenges president obama's health care law. howard has us getting into the 90s by the end of his seven- day forecast. we'll be back. good morning. if you are planning to head around town, especially in virginia, we have consume of issues, one with an accident but a couple of sinkholes as well. let's start off with the accident on 95 south-of-town -- south of town where there are two separate accidents. one is southbound 95 after dale city in the two left lanes and one is northbound 95 before dumfries. that's in the left lane. basically you need to stay to the right to get around both of those accidents down past dale city north and southbound on i- 95. let's take a live look outside and if you're planning to head over here near dale boulevard, this is north of all that activity i just told you b. you should be okay -- you about.

you should be okay heading towards woodbridge. north of dale city 095 everything is final. -- on 95 everything is final. no issues to report on the beltway between 95 and bethesda. actually i want to go back and tell you also about the road closures in prince william county with sinkholes aiden road at misty creek. a whole list of road closures out in prince william county with the flooding so give yourself extra time. we'll end with a live look on the east side of town at route 202. no problems to report basically between college park and the wilson bridge. coming up in my next report, another look at area roads at 5:24. but first let's go over to howard and the guys. >> thank you, monika. howard, take it away. we've got another soggy forecast on tap. >> we had heavy rains overnight. in prince william county, there are no more flood warnings but there were 3 to 4-inch rain totals. that really added up. only a few folks saw them.

a lot of people were saying not at my house. we'll gef you another chance today and tomorrow and thursday as well. here's a look at your bus stop forecast. we have a few showers out there. a little bit of patchy fog, especially southwest of d.c. you get down toward culpeper, especially orange, those visibilities really drop off. temps in the mid-60s to maybe 70, 72 here over the next couple of hours. our day planner cloudy this morning. a couple of showers. not too much. 69 at 9:00. by noon maybe some partly sunny skies but we can't rule out an isolated shower or two and a scattering of showers and storms this afternoon. 76 by 5:00. i think we top off at about 78 around 4:00 or so. overnight we haded heavy showers and storms but boy, that area is really falling apart. want to switch it over to live doppler 9000hd. we have some sprinkles here. not all of this is real. this is ground clutter but south of town on the 95 area, around prince william county, we see them here around woodbridge and dale city, roads

are wet. also in western charles county we've got showers there west of la plata coming just across the river there west of dahlgren. you can see it here from welcome to river sield we've got the showers there. there are the showers on i-95 north of quantico from around woodbridge south. then from western st. mary's county just there on the potomac coming down toward areas in the northern neck, south of newland, not quite to sandy point a few showers there. but that's it. reallytively quiet for most of us right now -- relatively quiet for most of us right now. it is 67 here in washington. a quick look on the michael & son weather camera. cloudy skies. actually some light sprinkles being reported at national with an easterly wind at 8 miles an hour. it's that easterly wind that's been keeping that low level of moisture socked in on us and kept us drizzling for hours yesterday. this is alberto now just a tropical depression. we have low pressure tracking up for new york with heavy

your temperatures mostly low to mid-70s going 70s to near 80 with a threat for storms later. let's check in with monika santami with time saver traffic. it's been a rough morning. it really has been a rough morning. roads are slippery in parts of our area there. was a single vehicle deadly crash that happened about 4:340 this morning on the southbound i-95 after dale city and state police are there blocking off the left half of the road. i'm going to show you what it looks like live. you can see the activity here on the southbound side of 95 and traffic getting by to the right past the accident investigation and cleanup. a single vehicle accident. i think it will be there for a while and may attract attention on the northbound side as well. i'll keep you posted on this situation. back over to our maps and also want to tell you about a couple of road closures because of flooding and also a sinkhole as well. first of all northbound 395 is fine. sinkholes at aiden road at misty creek and trenton court,

valley view. several road closures as well in prince william county because of flooding. back over to the maps this time on the north side of town. fine on 270. no problems to the point where the lanes divide. an update on the television in virginia at 5:38. >> thank you, monika. the judge in the trial of a d.c. liquor store owner is expected to issue a ruling in the case later today. >> richard kim is accused of selling alcohol to a minor and for several months our andreau mccarren documented minors buying alcohol from kim's town square market on mcarthur boulevard in northwest washington. the court yesterday, a 17-year- old testified he used an expired driver's license after 22-year-old to buy alcohol from kim's store. schism's lawyer argued this prosecutors didn't prove the sealed bottles contained alcohol. >> do you think it was a bomb? that's what you could hear a passenger saying as a driver recorded smoke filling the third tunnel yesterday. investigators say no, they believe it was a mechanical

issue that caused a school bus to catch fire. no one was on the bus because it was being towed when the fire started. firefighters and police evacuated the tunnel until it was safe for people to return to their cars. coming up later today thomas gore is scheduled to plead guilty to wrongdoing in d.c. mayor vincent gray 2010 ewhrex campaign. gore was a campaign aide when gray then unseated the incumbent incumbent adrian fenty. delia goncalves is live with more on what gore did. >> reporter: good morning. gore essentially admitting to the allegations that have been swirling around the wilson building since the mayor first took office that his campaign paid off a candidate to attack then mayor adrian fenty just so gray could win that election. thomas gore, gray's close friend and aide will also plead guilty to a federal charge later today of obstructing justice when he destroyed records proving that money

orpds were given to sulaimon brown. mayor gray always denied paying off brown but you could certainly say the charges represent the first major blow to his administration. >> our city is certainly under an ethical cloud. with the closing of the tommy mommas capital -- thomas chapter, the book is still being written. i do believe we're going to have other charges, other people, and, you know, we are going to have to do our best to be sure that the business of the city is getting done. and that certainly that my colleagues need to understand there's a crisis and a crisis in confidence of our government. >> reporter: because of this crisis of confidence in government, many of the other council members could not comment in regards to this impending plea deal because they have been subpoenaed by federal investigators as well so there are several people who potentially could be involved

in this ongoing probe into corruption here at the wilson building. gray is currently attending a conference in las vegas. he was on the record saying it's still an ongoing investigation and he will not make any comment. coming up at 6:00, i'll tell you just how much jail time his close friend and former aide faces. back to you. >> thank you, delia live in northwest washington by the wilson building this morning. the catholic archdiocese of washington is jow joining dozens of other catholic organizations when it comes to suing the obama administration. their lawsuit claims the president's health care law violates first amendment protections for religious freedom. the law requires employers to offer contraception services in their health care plan. while proposed regulations include an exemption for religious institutions, washington archbishop donald wuerl says the definition of religious organization is too narrow in this. >> the only thing that counts in this definition is what you

offering. pretty bad showing for the stock yesterday, its second day of trading on the nasdaq. the stock tumbled 11%. that only added fuel to the finger pointing that started after the stock only gained a little over two games in its -- dimes in its first day of trade. critics are blaming morgan stanley, the lead banker on the deal and blaming nasdaq with problems with trade. "the new york times" reporting some are saying facebook's offering price was too high, too many shares were sold to the public. analysts are saying facebook troubles could close cold water on enthusiasm for other companies planning ipo azitier this year. the government is actually investigating how badly the stock was handled. you can't always believe everything you hear. a term administration judge is saying -- [indiscernible] -- could treat or prevent heart disease, prostrate cancer and other illnesses.

dick brennan has more from the kennedy space center. >> reporter: space x has launched the rocket 9 on owe falcon 9 rocket. -- falcon 9 rocket. space x is attempting to become the first private space vessel to reach the international space station. there was clapping, high fives and hugs in the control room as the falcon 9 climbed towards orbit. this was the second launch attempt for space x. the first ended suddenly this past saturday when a faulty check valve caused high chamber pressure in one of the engines. computer sensed the pressure buildup and shut down the engine. >> it did what it was supposed to do. >> reporter: space x is one of five private companies attempting to win a nasa contract for manned space flight. the space agency is hoping that a private company would provide

temperatures getting into the upper 70s. 76 by 5:00 p.m. like last night the threat for a few heavy downpours that could cause some problems. over the last six hour you can see the storms we had overnight. they have weakened here and fallen apart. other than some spotty sprinkles and drizzle in and around the metro, not too much to show you here on the doppler but we're going to go into charles county a little tighter. here woodbridge. some showers extending toward marberry and along the potomac. here's accokeek on the other side and charles county just west of la plata. that shower trying to get toward 301 and route 6. having a tough time moving east. let me back up for a second. a little farther south into st. mary's county and the northern neck, we've been seeing these showers. this is kind of the remnants of what we had.

it just takes a little bit of time. exactly where they pop will be the question of the afternoon and it will determine whether you do or don't see one of those heavy downpours. a few showers this evening, quieter overnight. 80 tomorrow. chance of afternoon storms. 82 thursday, chance of afternoon storms. 84 friday, isolated storms. here comes the heat for the weekend and memorial day. isolated mainly afternoon storms and highs near that 90- degree mark. monika santami, it's not the happiest tuesday. no, especially on 95 and what virginia state police have been dealing w. i've been telling you about this since early this morning. it was a single vehicle crash that ended in one fatality. southbound 95 after dale city. only one lane is getting through. now, to add to your troubles, there is a backup and in the backup an accident involving a tanker truck and that is blocking the right lane. let's go over to a live look on the southbound of i-95.

his boat was sinking and the six people on board were getting into a life raft. but yesterday's air and sea search turned up no signs of the boat or its passengers. a man survives the 180-foot drop off nying niagra falls. a bystander took videos of the dramatic rescue. it was a suicide attempt and this man is only the third person without safety equipment to survive the long fall. he has serious injuries but is expected to recover. no evacuations yet but the locals are getting increasingly never vows at -- nervous at this volcano spews ash. a major eruption 12 years ago forced nearly 50,000 people to flee their homes. let's take another look at the question of the day. this is the number one thing most college graduates do after graduation. what do you think it is?
