but 9 wants you to know buyers under 21 may be lose is going they never bargained for. andrea mccarren is here to explain. >> if you're in high school or college, there's a pretty good chance you've heard of id chief, but if you're a parent, you probably have no clue. teens say it's an easy way to get a fake id not realizing their real identities are being stolen in the process. >> we are located in a safe country. your info is safe with us. >> that's part of the sales pitch behind idchief.com, a wildly popular china-based website that appears to be doing a pooling business in fake ids. >> they have eye color maroon. >> the ids feature holograms, encrypted personal information and a level of sophistication so high that they're able to pass through scanners used by bars and liquor stores to prevent minors from buying booze. >> the person's name, date of birth, that information is encrypted on the strip.

so when you scan the driver's license, it will come up with valid information on the front where in the old days they didn't have the ability to do that. >> unsuspecting teenages are may be buying more than access to alcohol. they're being targeted for identity theft. >> id chief is selling their information and kids are now finding out that they have thousands and hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of debt. >> according to law enforcement, the chinese scam artists are heading to students' facebook payments to cull additional information to further their scheme. >> it's not like you can file a police report for your bad fake id. >> remarkably the site warns buyers to beware of fake id scams. with the help of montgomery county police and sarah, a police intern, we ordered a fraudulent pennsylvania driver's license. we uploaded her signature and photograph and as required, wired $200 via western union.

in the last 24 hours our fake ids arrived. ed this made the 8,000-mile journey -- they'd made the 8,000-mile journey from china to gaithersburg. they came packaged in an envelope marked bracelet. inside was a gift box and an actual red bracelet. but underneath the padding wrapped in plain white paper were a pair of fake ids. >> this looks as authentic as it possibly can be. >> they even passed the black light test often used by police to detect fake ids in dark places like bars or nightclubs. >> i wouldn't consider this fake at all. i wouldn't even think twice about this id. >> police warn that anyone who is under underage caught using a fake id faces a penalty, especially what are is by teenage standards. they could lose their driver's license for up to a year and it may impact the cost of car insurance. investigators today leveled charges at a second campaign worker for d.c. mayor vincent

gray. this time it's a man named howard brooks. is he due in court tomorrow and is expected to -- he is due in court tomorrow and is expected to plead guilty to making false statements to investigators. those investigators say brooks helped move cash in the gray campaign into the hands of another candidate in 2010, sulaimon brown. brown says the gray campaign paid him to verbally attack another candidate, the then incumbent mayor adrian fenty. mayor gray continues to deny wrongdoing. >> wouldn't be doing my job if i didn't ask the question. did you know of this activity, what they were doing? >> again i'm not going to comment at this stage. we'll let the investigation play out as well as it should. >> yesterday former campaign worker thomas gore pleaded guilty to his role in the scheme to funnel money to brown. deeply disappointed and sorry, that's what the head of the secret service had to say to a panel of senators about the agency's colombian prostitution scandal. director mark sullivan testified about the incident before the senate homeland

talked about ipo of the year. now facebook is being talked about for the wrong reasons. as the stock continues to struggle, top u.s. financial regulators are eyeing whether morgan stanley, one of the banks that put facebook on the market, shared their less than rosy outlook for the social in thework with clients but not a wider audience. >> they increased the size of the offering, increased the price of the offering, at the same time apparently they were getting wind that the results of the company, the financial results, were a bit weaker than anticipated. >> reporter: in addition to scrutiny by the securities and exchange commission and the financial industry regulatory authority, a group of shareholders filed suit wednesday in a manhattan court. the sue against facebook and ceo mark zuckerberg as well as major banks alleges key financial information wasn't disclosed before shares went public. >> there was material information that wasn't shared or properly disclosed in the registration statement and prospect us prepared in connection with the ipo.

>> reporter: a facebook spokesperson said the suit is without merit and they will defend themselves vigorously. >> facebook stock finished up $1 today closing at $32, still six bucks below the price of the original ipo. in just two days almost 900,000 people in washington d.c. will be hitting the road for the memorial day holiday weekend. it's expected to be the most congested memorial day weekend in seven years and almost a quarter million will head off to the maryland eastern shore where ocean city has new surprises in store for visitors. >> reporter: i'm scott broom on the road in ocean city looking at what's going to be new this year at the beach. millions of bare feet now safe from splinters for seasons to come. >> this is some of the nicest wood i've seen on this boardwalk in a long time. they did a real nice job. >> it smells like a lumberyard. >> the new boards are smith. first time on a bike, they're nice. >> reporter: it's a project that will cost about $6 million when it's done.

sentencing was handed down today for a new york woman who had faked having cancer so donors would help pay for her wedding and honeymoon. after claiming that she had leukemia 25-year-old jessica vega received more than $13,000 worth of goods and services including a free wedding dress and flowers. since then she paid all that money back and is expected to be released from jail today after a judge sentenced her to

time served. a new poll shows the number of americans who support same sex marriage is now at an all time high. that poll out today from abc news says 53% of americans now say same sex marriage ought to be legal and that is an awfully big change from six years back when that number was just 36%. the poll was released two weeks to the day after president obama announced he supports the rights of same sex couples to get married. it looks like the copy of same sex marriage has made it into the world of the comic book. in the latest issue of archonnishing x-men a guy known as north -- of archonnishing x- men, a guy known as north man proposes to his boyfriend named kyle genadou. the writer says he tries to make the stories grounded in reality and the comic book is not just stopping with the proposal, oh, no. the wedding issue is out this summer. hot temperatures and humid air has the storms popping up. topper has the knowledge as to

war ii visited war memorials on the national mall today. that trip was organized by a group called honor flight. every year the group works to bring veterans to our nation's capital to see the memorials and share their stories and experiences with other veterans. today president obama gave the commencement address at the u.s. air force academy. >> you are the first class in nine years that will graduate into a world where there are no americans fighting in iraq. >> there's nothing to steer them in the upper atmosphere and they're moving in an opposite way southeast to northwest, which is just kind of weird. let's have a live look outside by our live weather cam brought to you by michael and son. we've got clouds. the showers have moved out of national airport, temperature 70 work winds out of the north now at 7 -- 72, winds out of north down at 7. 22.91 inches of mercury. here's a live look at live doppler 9000, most of the activity on the west side of 95, nothing crazy heavy in the montgomery county side, but you get out towards leesburg and points south into much of fauquier county got some pretty heavy thunderstorms that are producing rainfall rates of 1 to 1 1/2 inches per hour and the problem is they're not moving. we've got a little storm here just on the west side of 95. we have a little bit of activity in montgomery county but again yellows, maybe 1/2- inch per hour. you need your wipers on, but nothing super heavy. this is pretty heavy activity, out 66 past chantilly toward front royal and points south. we're looking at pretty heavy

activity. this is great falls and potomac, see some yellows there, slow going out river road and wisconsin avenue and route 7 and route 50. we'll slide more south and west. this is the heaviest activity growing over the past hour between aldie down 15 over toward the plains back up to middleburg out 50 toward upperville and points south. we're looking at pretty heavy rain. right now there are warnings on these, but be advised. some flash flooding is still possible and heavy rain is going on. here's a look at the satellite and radar with the lightning, a lot of lightning with these storms especially points to the west. talked about this all night. next to flash flooding lightning is the no. 2 killer. if you hear thunder, go indoors. temperatures, where it's rained, it's in the 60s, 68 rockville, bethesda, 66 arlington. down to the south 75 fort belvoir, 74 college park and 73 in beltsville. here's the deal. still kind of warm and humid,

some storms tonight and some with heavy rain, showers and storms again tomorrow. friday good news, more sun and fewer storms. that has a nice ring to it. for tonight mostly cloudy to partly cloudy, mild, shower or thunderstorm possible, some with heavy rain, lows in the 60s. tomorrow morning cannot rule out a shower or storm, temperatures in the 60s and 70s, but by far and away, a better chance thursday afternoon. temperatures about the same. we were 81 today. we'll be either side of 80 tomorrow with winds out of the southeast at about 10. next seven days, friday more sun, fewer storms, mid-80s, gets hot. we're looking at 89 friday -- saturday rather, perhaps a storm, a little better chance of a few storms sunday. we're around 90. memorial day we're in the low 9s with storms and more storms -- 90s with storms and more storms tuesday ending wednesday. the unofficial beginning of summer will feel like mid- summer. >> i think it can finally put those winter suits away.

in the mailbag tonight we got some major blowback over that story of the montgomery county 911 dispatcher caught sleeping on the job when a resident called in desperate for help. on the wusa9 facebook page today most were taking note of the fact that that worker was in the middle of a 24 hour shift. here's tracy michelle. first no one should have to work a 24 hour shift, though

i'm sure many do. in this case where you're being awake can be the difference between life and death i think whoever did the snoring should no questions asked about fired. really? first you say nobody should have to work that shift. then you say that's just too bad. you ought to be fired? a little inconsistent. steven isaacson's post is a tad more consistent. they work 24 hour shifts. anyone is human, is not able to function properly being awake that amount of time. listen to a.j. howard. when i first heard the story, i thought the person should be disciplined, but i changed my mind when i heard he'd worked a 24-hour shift. that should be illegal. besides i'm thinking he may have sleep apnea from the sound of that snoring. that's funny, but we get the inside scoop from diana safford. i've been an emt. the main reason fire companies can get away with a 24 hour shift is because they generally have some down time at some point to get a nap at least. thank you, diane in, and you're exactly right. montgomery county says
