firefighters and police strauss would to put out the flames after a plane crash that killed everyone on board sunday. all 153 passengers died when the aircraft crashed into a densely populated area. one official said the pilots radioed to the control tower just before the accident saying the plane had engine trouble. the air flight appeared to fall on its belly near the airport, crashing into a furniture shop and residential buildings. one witness said my younger ones were outside playing ball and they were shouting to leave, to look up, because the plane was about to land on top of my head. we thought the plane was going to land. sunday authorities were determining how many more people may have died on the ground. winnie mandela will undergo surgery today. she is the former wife of

nelson mandela. the 77-year-old has been in the hospital thursday after she fell and broke her wrist. who would steal a wheelchair? that is what people who live in a capitol hill neighborhood are trying to figure out. a woman there had her expensive motor rised wheelchair swiped from her home last week. as our peggy fox found out, it is now nearly impossible for the woman to get around. >> reporter: melissa white has cerebral balls. she can walk but never far. for the past two years, it's been no problem to walk up the stairs to get to her motor rised wheel their. that is until wednesday evening. >> he walked inside and said honey, your chair is gone. >> reporter: her husband noticed the empty space under a porch where her chair should have been. >> i was like okay, i guess i'll call the police. thought we should have locked

it. and then i shot who steals a wheelchair. what do you need it for? >> reporter: melissa was hoping whoever took it was somebody who needed it. but she is not sure that is the case. because they left the charger and they won't get far without it. >> reporter: here's what her chair looks like. it is dark red and gray. it cost $5600. >> we used a cable lock for a bike, and i just wasn't as vigilant about it clearly as i should have been. but it is really difficult, because i only have one hand that works well. >> reporter: the chair has allowed melissa to work and even go to a rally at the mall. here she is taking part in a wheelchair dance. >> it really changes my life. i don't even think, most of the time, how much i need it until it is not here. >> reporter: her neighbors are disgusted with the theft and are hoping whoever took it will bring it back quickly. >> i think it is tragic and sad. who steals a wheelchair?
