old alexander was a virginia tech waiting to happen. alexander kinyu was eventually removed from the rotc program and banned from campus. he has confessed to killing his 37-year-old roommate from ghana and eating his organs last week inside a town house. investigators still have not released a motive in this case. jurors in prince george's county took less than three hours to convict john hassle of murder. they murdered david williams last july inside his bowie home. investigators say they found this case particularly disturbing because brooks posed as a pepco employee the day before the murder so he could case the house. brooks has already pleaded guilty in the case. haston faces a maximum sentence of life plus 60 years.

a u.s. drone strike in pakistan targeted al qaeda's second in command on monday. 15 people were killed in the strike but it's not been confirmed if the number two person in al qaeda was one of them. he is the latest in a long list of al qaeda senior commanders targeted by u.s. drone attacks. he was captured by u.s. forces in afghanistan but eventually escaped from custody. president obama will spend the day at the white house after a trio of fund raising events in new york city last night with former president bill clinton. the events raised more than $3.5 million for the obama election campaign. m.i.t. romney will -- mitt romney will hold an event today. voters in wisconsin head to the polls for a recall election. labor unions and their supporters are trying to oust republican governor scott walker who succeeded in cutting benefits to unionized state

would be a yellow day. today is going to be a green day but we have a couple of yellows in the next three. this morning the bus stop forecast, there's some isolated showers off to the south but they should be out of here in another hour, hour and a half. i'll leave it out of the bus stop forecast. unless you're leaving in the next hour you'll see them. otherwise mostly cloudy, cool. temperatures in the low 50s and 60s. sunrise not until 5:43. as far as the day is concerned, we start out with some clouds. i do believe we'll see sunshine midday but really unseasonably cool day. averages should be in the low #s on for the highs. today we'll be lucky to make the low 70s. by 4:00 around 70. we have a raindrop here. spotty showers this afternoon. best chance will be west of town in the higher elevations as you get toward the blue ridge and west of there. at 8:00 still should be partly sunny and 69 with the transfer of venus late this afternoon in front of the sun, if you're going to try to watch that, don't look directly at the sun,

i think most of us will be able to check that out. here's a look at the temperature letters oaf -- at the dopplers over the last six years. right down coastal areas along the bay and around d.c. and points south seeing a few showers. we still have showers in north beach and solomons. out to the west the heavier showers now southeast of fredricksburg pulling away. but a couple of sprinkles here and there and a little bit of drizzle. the temps are in the 50s north to a couple of low 60s at fredricksburg or the lone low 60 i should say in fredricksburg. 55 in winchester. good visibility. had some drizzle and light sprinkles on the hour at national, 59 degrees with a north, northeasterly wind at 7 and humidity high at 82%. the big picture we still have this upper storm spinning here in the northeast just off the

atlantic coast. it's dragging down the little pieces of energy that are going to come through every now and then enhancing our rain chances. the heavy stuff is across tennessee. by midday we're okay here but notice out west. a little bit of upslope with the northeast winds on the mountains. that will help give them and up in pennsylvania a better chance of showers this afternoon while we should be all right for the transit. things quiet down tonight. then again tomorrow afternoon we're going to pop some more showers and thunderstorms. looks like the best chance tomorrow could be north and west but even thursday we're still going to have that. right now in our next three days a good day today. slight chance of a shower. made tomorrow yellow but if the shower chances still look north and west, we'll downgrade that to a green day. back mainly in the 50s tonight with 75 tomorrow. afternoon showers and thunder thursday. that could be a problem for some so another yellow alert day on thursday, 77. as we head toward the weekend,

395. we'll take a live look on 395 at duke street and it's nice and quiet both the main and hov lanes to the 14th street bridge. in my next report, another look around the area at 4:55. washington pays its last respects to bishop stewart, the revered social advocate died last week after a two-year battle with breast cancer. >> kristin fisher caught up with her children and they said goodbye to a woman in action. >> reporter: when martin luther king, jr. marched on washington in 1963, she was there. she followed him from georgia and never went back. nearly ten years later she became the first african- american woman to find a homeless shelter in washington. >> there's women and their babies who come here, knock on my door all night long, imagene, i need help. that's what i'm here for. >> reporter: for the next 45 years she ran the house of imagene and a shelter for women

and children. two years ago the shelter burned down around the time she got the diagnosis that it would ultimately end her life. she lost her battle with cancer last wednesday. two days later her son michael johnson picked out her final resting place at the fort lincoln cemetery. >> it hurt my heart so bad because she tried so hard to please and make sure that everybody around here was okay. from her death bed she was still making phone calls trying to make sure everything was okay. >> reporter: the memorial service is set for next saturday at the sell actions lodge. its -- at the elks lodge. it's a fitting site because she helped save it ten years ago. >> she will give her last dollar to make sure somebody had a smile and food in their mouth. >> reporter: imagene went from being homeless to helping the homeless. she was a pastor, mother of to and a social advocate for anyone who needed help. >> my mother always had society

on her mind. she wanted to leave the world the way -- better than the way she found it. >> reporter: and that she did. in brentwood, kristin fisher, 9news now. >> imagene was 69 years old. a viewing is going to be friday, 6:00 p.m. at the bacon tune recall home on 14th -- funeral home on 14th street northwest. in health news, researchers have been studying the benefits of soy for improving mental function in women after menopause. but a new study finds soy supplements do not make much of a difference. the stanford school of medicine looked at hundreds of women over the age of 45. they found there was no difference in mental abilities two those who took soy and those would didn't. doctors have found a possible link between childhood trauma and skin cancer. researchers at ohio state looked at cancer patients whose childhood included periods of neglect or maltreatment. they found those nations are at much greater risk for their canners to return if they go through a very stesful event.

the -- stressful event. doctors say those patients should be extra vigilant about their health. another new study warns parents to be careful about giving their children correct doses of acetaminophen. the medication is widely available over the counter but overdosing can cause liver failure and be life- threatening. researchers in ontario are suggesting better labeling and dosing information. they also recommend that pharmacists keep aseat menino behind the -- acetaminophen behind the counter so pharmacists can counsel parents on the correct dosage. "the wall street journal" says the social media site is developing a few new features for kids pages. the technology would allow parents to control who their kids friend and what applications they can use on the site. many children already lie about their ages anyway to get access to a facebook page.
