alexandria is 68. it's 65 in baden and college park. here in washington the sun is coming up over the horizon. a little haze out there this morning. 73 degrees. winds south at 6 miles an hour. and the humidity still quite high at 79%. so it is muggy out there. let me show you this. showers and storms here in the middle of the country. this is ahead of a pretty good cold front that will be coming through here in about another 30 hours or. it's going to happen overnight tuesday night into wednesday morning. make that about 42 hours or so this front is here in iowa and wisconsin. just getting into western illinois crossing the mississippi river. that's one piece of the puzzle. the other piece look at all the moisture that's been affecting areas to the south from the gulf coast through georgia and south carolina, getting into north carolina, now into kentucky. this is going to help feed into the system from the midwest as it comes across and together they're going to produce showers, storms, maybe some pretty hefty downpours in spots

during the day on tuesday. today, though, as you look at the future cast, it's fairly quiet, especially through lunch time. want you to watch in northern virginia, especially as you get toward the blue ridge and shenandoah valley. see a little bit of green take pops late this afternoon. there may be an isolated shower there but really overnight into tomorrow is when we'll see i think quite a few showers and thunderstorms affect the region before we clear out by wednesday. today 89. increasing clouds. a hot day, humid day. tomorrow a yellow alert day. we'll have some slowdowns, some inconveniences, maybe some sports cancelations. temperatures around 80, though. it will be cooler and then wednesday we're back with drier air, 84. thursday a few clouds coming off the atlantic may give us even a sprinkle 78. by the weekend we're looking nice, highs in the low 80s. 5:49. monika samtani, hopefully traffic is looking nice. it's not looking so good in virginia. i've been telling but this accident on the northbound side of 95 down in triangle for a while.
5:50 am
i'm get to that in just a moment. let me start off with some decent news at least. southbound on i-270 you just have the off and on delays leaving route 85 as you head toward urbana. once you're in clarks burke it's all green heading down to the point where the lanes divide. it loosens up down to the beltway. a live look at the beltway. on the outer loop it's really not too bad as you leave the 95 interchange past colesville road. the sun is rising. that may affect your inner loop traffic as you head for college park a little later in the morning. let's go back over to the maps this time for the bad news. northbound i-95 you had this long-standing accident just north of triangle sitting in the left lane. i'm going to call it about 19 miles an hour or slower trying to get past the accident. in fact, we'll take a live look there. you can see the arrow board is set up along the northbound side of 95. actually, it's been cleared so that's good news. it was there about 60 seconds ago but looks like it's been cleared so hopefully delays will clear shortly as well. in my next report another look

at area roads at 6:00. back to you. here's what's making news now at 5:51. opening statements will begin in the trial of former penn state assistant football coach jerry sandusky. sandusky is accused of sexually abusing ten boys over a 15-year time span. some members of the jury do have ties to penn state. hundreds of people have been forced to evacuate their homes because of a massive wildfire in colorado. a blaze in the northern part of the state has now torched more than 22 square miles damaging or destroying about 20 buildings. so far firefighters have been unable to contain the wildfire. a black bear is probably working out the kinks this morning somewhere in the great smoky mountains. that's because authorities shot the bear with tranquilizer darts early yesterday because he was on the university of tennessee campus in knoxville. after some frantic calls from campus, officers found the bear in a tree in front of sorority

technology. and so if you're giving out free services, clearly we need help by our community to make this survive. our community has come to expect, rely on the mammovan for this life saving technology or way of saving women and so we're so grateful to news babes. >> it helps take away the excuse of not being able to get to the doctor. but women want to know, especially those who are underinsured or have no insurance who is eligible to be screened on the mammovan? >> everyone is eligible. we give free mammograms to women who are twice the poverty level or less, whether it's an individual or family income. and then beyond that we have a sliding scale. so we really work very hard to make mammography available to everyone in the d.c. area. >> the thing about it is the mammovan comes to your community or rolls into your business location again as we say taking the excuses away from women who put their families ahead of their own health care.
5:54 am
>> right. that's so common with women. so we do go to underserved areas but we also go to the workplace. it's so common for working women to say you know, i think i skipped last year and it's three or four years. so we really reach out to many different communities to try to make all women get program grams who are eligible. >> if a cancer is found from someone who is screened on the mammovan? >> it finds abnormalities that then need a workup. we won't actually diagnose the cancer till step to. we assure everyone the ability to come to gw and have the diagnostic mammogram with the latest technology by radiologists who do nothing but breast imagery. >> we want to talk about an exciting program that starts today because cancer is not just about the woman but the entire system, especially the man who -- entire family, especially the man who loves here. >> there's a blog for the men who are impacted by the breast cancer that affects the women they love. it's very important that we speak to the needs of the
