>> reporter: d.c. police are investigating. the dog's owner could face some sort of criminal charges. for now, just a $50 fine. that's less than most speed camera violations. derek. >> so kristen, let me be sure that we are right about this. those dogs are alive and in that junk yard? >> for now, they are not on the loose. they are in animal control's custody. they are still alive. the investigation is going to determine whether or not those dogs need to be euthanized. >> thank you, kristen. prosecution calls two key witnesses today in the sexual abuse case against former penn state assistant coach, jerry sandusky. an 18-year-old man choked back tears as he recounted years of abuse. this afternoon, sandusky's former colleague took the stand. manuel has the latest from the courthouse in bellefonte, pennsylvania >> reporter: lesli, it was an emotional and tense day in court today. the prosecution tried for a one-

two punch, culling him an accuser and eyewitness to an alleged sexual assault. mike mcquery told jurors he saw jerry sandusky with a young boy in a shower on the penn state campus in 2001. he testified sandusky was standing behind the boy who appeared to be 10 or 12. he heard skin on skin smacking sounds. mcquery says he closed a locker loudly to indicate he was there. earlier today, jurors heard disturbing testimony from an 18- year-old who says sandusky repeatedly molested him starting when he was a boy. the teenager testified sandusky began getting more physical with him during sleepovers. contact that eventually led to oral sex. he told the hushed courtroom, i didn't know what to do with all the thoughts running through my head. i blacked out. i didn't want it to happen. i kind of froze. did you tell your mom?

asked the prosecutor. no. did you tell anyone? no i was embarrassed and confused and didn't know what to do. the accuser told a school counselor about the years of molestation, but the teen testified that at first the counselor didn't believe him. saying sandusky had a heart of gold. on tense cross-examination, tried to show the teen changed his story and that his testimony now is more detailed than what he originally told authorities and the grand jury. want to prove the accusers are benefiting from the case. mcquery seemed tense and almost combative. this case has clearly turned his life upside down. from bellefonte, pennsylvania, i'm manuel, lesli, back to you. another tough day. mcquery told jurors that after he left the locker room, he called his dad who told him to leave immediately and come to

the house. >> we have breaking news from florida. george zimmerman's 25-year-old wife, shelly, was arrested 90 minutes ago. she's charged with emergency. the state says she lied about her husband's bond hearing. george zimmerman is charged with second-degree murder in the shooting death of trayvon martin. all right, rainy, kind of ugly out there today. topper is in the weather center with the latest on our yellow alert so far, no big storms. >> the frontal system is to our west. let's look at live doppler 9,000 and zoom in on a couple areas. the heaviest areas of rain are east of i-95 and north up 95 toward baltimore. in the past hour or so, a little heavier rain developed in through portions of prince georges county, also into northern calvert county and southern anne arundel county. and this is pretty heavy rain.

northern colorado. firefighters are making some progress, but the flames continue to spread. more than 43,000 acres have burned and more than 100 homes have buildings are gone. hundreds of people were forced to evacuate. now call a shelter home. heavy smoke surrounded their house. there was too much for marybell. her husband, a former combat marine says he never felt so helpless. >> i'm not worried about my house. if there's nothing there, we'll rebuild. we'll be fine. >> one person wasn't able to escape. a 62-year-old woman died in her home. authorities tried to reach her, but were blocked off by flames. the spoke put a haze around nearby communities. it's the dry conditions that make this fire very difficult to contain. crews can dig lines in the ground around the fire, but the trees are so dry, the flames are jumping from tree top to tree top.

business. it's chicago pizzaria's location by the end of this month, they will be gone. anny hong is here to tell us exactly why they are shutting down. they say it's not that they aren't selling enough pizzas. >> the big challenge is, one of the owners say it's all because of rising costs and the operation, food, and their high rent. it was a difficult decision for the owners. they had no other choice but to close its flag ship location. >> well, when we started, pizza was a low rent food. this place became a destination dining spot. >> opened the first chicago pizzaria in 1975. since then, the family has been serving pizzas and sandwiches for customers. customers that include celebrities. >> ordered a lot of pizzas for his staff. we also had michelle and daughters in here after a soccer game. we hosted birthday parties for

roger clemen's fate is now in the hands of the jury. five hours of closing arguments and rebuttals left 12 jurors to answer one main question. did seven time psi young award winning pitcher lie to congress about using performance enhancing drugs? the government asked jurors to believe the eyewitness testimony of clemen's former strength trainer, brian macnemy. he personally injected clemens with steroids. the prosecuting attorney said quote, you are the umpires here, find him guilty. >> he gave a very powerful closing, i thought. that was surprising because he has stumbled. >> the defense's main focus has been tearing down his credibility. clemen's lawyers say he has lied in the past and is lying now.

the government said contained clemen's dna and performance enhancing drugs. >> it's not great evidence. it wasn't a very strong chain of custody, for example. so it's easy to raise questions about that. >> if convicted on all charges, clemens could face up to 30 years in prison and a $1.5 million fine. though under u.s. sentencing guidelines, he would probably face no more than 15 to 21 months in prison. danielle nottingham, cbs news, washington. jurors will be back to deliberate on wednesday. if they do not reach a verdict, they won't return until monday because jurors have prior commitments on thursday and friday. derek. well, cursing. it is going to cost you. that's if you do it in one town in new england. the town of plymouth county, massachusetts, voted to fine people who use profanity. that ban was proposed by a local business owner. it's not just the adults that

caught on tape, a dramatic escape attempt. now, surveillance video from the courthouse shows this inmate charged the door of a holding cell, tackle a deputy, then they stumbled into a courtroom where the court officers quickly pile on the inmate. as you might imagine, that man is facing charges for trying to get away and for assault. also, a car gets swallowed by the flood waters. todd dixon ignoring topper shutt's advice and took a canal through a parking lot. look at that. wow. look at the bubbles. good news is, some passers by came to the rescue. dickson and a friend were inside that car, but they got out safe. >> i turned and realized it was kind of sunken in. my battery was too weak to pull myself out. we crawled out the window. >> as for the car, well, you

imagine having epileptic seizures and never knowing when they could hit. according to the world health organization, it's a reality for nearly 50 million people around the world. >> in tonight's health alert, anita brikman explains why doctors want more people with uncontrolled seizures to think about having brain surgery. >> i have had epilepsy since my young age of 2. >> michael of maryland lived with epilepsy through his entire life. he was able to cope with the occasional seizures most of the time. until one day it started affecting his job. >> i had literally fell. i have never fallen before during a seizure. >> was your employer saying you need to get this fixed to come back to work? >> not necessarily fixed. they wanted a clear bill of help. >> his seizures kept getting

worse. doctors tried different medications to bring them under control, but it didn't work. this made michael a candidate for an operation where a section of the brain is taken out. that's where the majority of epileptic seizures originate. >> there is a delay of 22 years before they are referred on to a center like ours. >> the doctor of medstar, georgetown university hospital says one of the main reasons for the delay is because many candidates for this procedure are reluctant to undergo brain surgery. the risks were not worth taking, but a recent study in the journal of the american association dispelled that notion. >> what the study showed very elegantly is of the 23 people who were just taking medication alone, all 23 of those patients were still having seizures and if you looked at the group, 11 of the 15 of those patients were seizure-free. >> he had his procedure in

team has been here the last three weeks with organized team activities. this week's minicamp is the first and last mandatory practice for the entire team before training camp at the end of july. now mike shanahan said these practices would run a lot like ota's, which means no pads, no tackling. but rg3 still looking impressive. still looking more and more comfortable every time we see him. but like i said, no tackling. so, he really hasn't had to go up against nfl linebackers in a game-like situation quite yet. we have seen him be fearless in practice. he has had a lot of rushing touchdowns. he says that's not going to change come game day. there one thing i want to do is play with fear. you have to continue to play fearless. especially in college guys, they try to take you out. guys are a lot better at doing what they are trying to do. so, i'll be smart.

if i need to swat, i'll swat. by no means will i play with fear. >> reporter: now the newest redskins, pier, not only has to learn a whole new system coming from indy, but he has to do it with a rookie quarterback. i spoke with him one on one a few moments after practice to see how he is settling in and how the offense is progressing. >> it's a great feeling. the offense is coming a lot smoother than i expected and things are going faster. it's a great process. >> i know it's spring, but there's a lot of buzz surrounding this team. what can you tell us about the mentality? >> there's a good buzz going around around the team. the team is confident. we have a lot of great players on offense that can make good plays at any time. we have to get the offense set, but our defense isn't very good

you might have guessed it, but there is bad news tonight. teenagers looking for that last minute summer job. according to north eastern university center, more than 7 in 10 teens in this country will not have a job this summer. in fact, employment for people between the ages of 16 and 19 is at the lowest level since world war ii. now the center says it is partly a cultural shift. camp or taking part in other activities to get ready for college. but, there's also the fact that older workers are taking away jobs like mowing lawns and busing restaurant tables. that's also a contributing factor. it's not uncommon for people to turn to craigslist. >> a california woman had to post openings for a job she never thought she would have to scamable to fill. >> a horse drawn carriage
