comply. sentenced to 60 days behind bars. henson was found guilty to make calls that prosecutors say were designed to keep black vote res from going to the polls. this dates back to november of 2010. henson was working for former republican governor, bob ehrlich, who lost to democratic governor, martin o'malley. and late this afternoon, we learned that federal prosecutors are dropping all charges against john edwards. the former senator's trial on corruption charges ended in a hung jury on all but one count last month. edwards was acquitted on that final charge. prosecutors will not seek a new trial. the mysterious disappearance of a teenage girl from takoma, park, maryland, 32 years ago has been solved. but not the way her family had hoped. it's now a homicide investigation that police from virginia and maryland are helping them solve for good. >> she liked to dance and you

know, sometimes she loved to poke fun at people. >> vividly remembers their youngest sibling and the details about the day she disappeared 32 years ago. >> it's extremely important that someone come forward and help solve the case. >> 18-year-old cindy had taken a ride on bus from her home for a job interview at a silver spring deli. the deli called to tell her she got the job, but she never knew it. police now believe someone killed her. >> we are looking for the help of anybody that knew her. anybody that was acquainted with her. maybe know her where abouts or seen her at the time she was missing. >> in 1982, a hiker found her remains in virginia at the foot of bull run mountain. in 2001, dna evidence in the case was entered into the national data base. in 2011, dna from family members was collected in an unrelated case elsewhere and finally last month on may 10, a

dna match was found and using advanced technology, her remains were identified. >> when cynthia's remains were found two years after she disappeared, there were some clothes found as well. some clothes that may have been identified by her family. but back then, the police department was not aware of her disappearance and no contact made with the takoma park police department. and her family went on believing for 30 years that she might come home some day. >> i was angry at her for a while because i thought, this is not like my sister. how could she be so mean to us? >> cindy's brother is grateful police finally found her, but he wishes had hadn't taken so long. police are asking for help in identifying this man. cindy's family says he was her boyfriend, she may have broken up with before she vanished. >> we love you, we always have, we always will. >> peggy fox, 9news now. >> what a haunting story.

arundel county, where two teens are facing felony charges after throwing a so-called bottle bomb at a six-year-old girl. bottle bomb videos are easy to find on the internet. and it was here on a playground at the sunset elementary school in anne arundel county where two teens tried to attack a six- year-old girl with one of the bombs, police say. >> this is evidence. >> fire department here is plagued with this problem and has assisted police and prosecutors in making at least four felony cases in the past year. because while it looks like a prank on youtube, the danger is real. >> they can absolutely really get hurt. in a case that we had in april, there was a blast injury to the individual. one of her extremities as well as the materials inside the component that can cause burns. >> anne arundel county, scott

broom, 9news now. >> phil is the new d.c. council chairman. he came within one vote to replace kwame brown. the federal investigation taken down two council members is take it toll on the people who are left. >> this is bruce johnson in the district. before council members today could vote on a new chairman. some members had to vent. >> but we have to stay together up here and stop fighting. >> today was the d.c. council's first meeting since kwame brown was forced to resign because of felony bank fraud and campaign finance violations. six months before that, ward 5 councilman, harry thomas, forced out of office for stealing more than $300,000 from youth baseball programs. four-term councilman was voted the new chairman. >> what do you say to the residents of the city?

gorge. maryland's highest court says voters can decide whether to approve a law that allows in state tuition for some illegal immigrants. state lawmakers passed the measure last year and groups oppose it already gathered enough signatures to put the issue up for a statewide vote this november. a question before the court was largely a technical matter. fairfax county police say a teacher arrested on child porn charges did not do anything inappropriate at the school. robert was arrested at poplar tree elementary this morning. the 26-year-old was in his first year of teaching at the school. tonight, he facings ten counts of possessing child pornography. still ahead tonight, a harm harmless prank or a punishment? whether high school students should get to walk at their graduation.

new york avenue tonight between 10th street and florida avenue. the shut down starts at 10:00. it will last until 5:00 in the morning. you'll want to follow detour signs. construction crews will be working on the new york avenue bridge project. metro changed the name of one of its red line stations. the new york avenue, florida avenue, is now -- stands for north of massachusetts avenue. the neighborhood there. and metro says it will keep new york avenue on the signs for the next year to cut down on the confusion. six students are suspended after a senior prank after herndon high. three of them are prohibited from participating in their graduation ceremony tomorrow. >> i'm sur ray chin where a senior prank cost some kids their graduation ceremony. >> it kills me it's in this bag right now. >> chris is deciding if he'll try on his red graduation gown.

three designated in need of type one management by the u.s. forest service. emily schmidt shows us what those firefighters are up against. >> for five days and four nights, the fire burning in northern colorado a few miles from fort collins has only grown bigger. >> pretty frightening. you know that it's serious. it's a monster. >> 1,000 firefighters pitted against more than 46,000 burning acres out numbered, yet today their leaders encouraged. >> how do you measure success? we're gaining. >> crews count ten air tankers, 14 helicopters, 100 fire engines in the fight. the fire is growing, it's growing slower, which is important as crews tire. they are working 16 hour shifts in dangerous conditions. some areas are deemed too treacherous for firefighters to begin to tackle. the weather isn't helping. >> we have a concept of escape routes and safety zones. we will be individual lent as

news. lance armstrong is once again under some serious allegations of doping. the u.s. antidoping agency is investigating some suspicious blood samples from 2009 and 2010. claiming that they show some blood manipulation or some blood transfusion. now the agency alleges armstrong and five others from his team were involved. armstrong is immediately banned from triathlons. armstrong denies the charges. now the redskins, they got a nice surprise after practice today. mike shanahan giving them tomorrow off, letting them start their five-week vacation a day early. we really gotten to see firsthand just how fast and how speedy rg3 really is. if you recall, he was a track star at baylor. he ran a 4-4 in the nfl combine. did you know four years ago, rg3 competed at the olympic

trial. obviously, he didn't make the u.s. team, but we asked mike shanahan what that experience could do for his player. >> i can say, you won't be in the olympic trials, and the only thing i'm concerned about. obviously what he did was pretty impressive. have that type of speed and compete at that level, gives you an idea what ability he does have. >> we got our first chance to hear from the assistant coaches today as well. new defensive back coach is getting a lot of accolades from his new players. well, he doesn't really appear to need his ego boosted. he has enough confidence for himself. >> i'm the very best. i was the best last year when i got fired. and we'll figure out the rest of that stuff out. right now, we'll help the washington redskins win. >> sit back and play football. he can do all the talking from here on out.
