mid-70s at noon and near 80 for the high if not the low 80s depending on how much sunshine we can get. right now we're 69. some clouds have moved in from the northeast. they are thicker off to the east. that's where the temperatures are warmest. 71 annapolis but 54 in winchester. we're going up to near 80. let's check in with monika samtani. she has your thursday morning time saver traffic. thank so you much, howard. good morning, everybody. things look great out on the roadways right now. you'll begin to see a bit of volume forming on the major thoroughfares. we're used to that on the inbound side of i-66 for example it's slowing down route 50 to 123. we'll take a live look on the inbound side where at route 123 you can see the pace does improve as you head for the beltway right now and beyond toward the roosevelt bridge you should be just final. let's go back over to the maps and this time we'll head to the south side of town. no problems to report as you head north on i-95. the bw parkway and route 50 coming in from the east look fiernl as well -- fine as well as you head through cheverly.

5:31 am
performance. he's taken more than 500 drug tests. he's never failed one. in february federal prosecutors closed a two-year criminal investigation into armstrong, but the antidoping agency only has to prove armstrong took drugs, not whether he committed a crime. it's the moment they've worked for since kindergarten but today a handful of northern virginia students won't get to graduate with their class because of their senior prank. 9news now reporter delia goncalves is live outside the high school. how bad was this prank? >> reporter: well, no one got hurt, but administrators were not happy. they did not think it was very funny, even though the kids kind of envisioned a comical slip and slide kind of reaction. it didn't really go their way and they weren't obviously able to pull it off. the seniors rehearsed yesterday for graduation. today the herndon seniors will walk across the stage at the patriot center except for three of the students whose prank just came on the absolute wrong
5:32 am
day. it was final exam day when a total of six students decided to pour baby oil on some hallways and stairs, but earlier that morning, get this, someone spray painted some of the exterior doors and then an hour after this baby oil prank, someone else pulled the fire alarm. the students had to evacuate. no one was hurt, but administrators were not pleased. the three students who pulled off the prank, they got suspended until friday which means they can't attend today's graduation. >> since the fire alarm did happen, they kind of like made it kind of harsh for us because since like kids couldn't get out because the floors were slippery and stuff so i feel like that may have made an impact. >> it wasn't supposed to be dangerous. it wasn't supposed to be harmful. people were supposed to just slip and slide and have a good time in the hallway, not get hurt. >> reporter: no one did get hurt but potentially it could
5:33 am
have been a very bad situation with those slippery floors and then kids having to evacuate because of a fire alarm. so it really was a perfect storm of mishaps that happened at the school that morning. the students say, listen, we're willing to take any punishment. we'll scrub the school down from top to bottom. please just let us walk across the stage. but the school administration is not budging. they are not allowed to walk with their classmates today. coming up at 6:00, i'll tell you how the three of these students were caught and some of the questions surrounding the school system's discipline policy. i'll have more on that in a half-hour. back to you. >> delia goncalves reporting live from herndon. it's been over two years since virginia tech student morgan harrington disappeared from a metallica concert in charlottesville but the rock group is still actively trying to help the f.b.i. find her killer. the group has a $50,000 reward for information leading to the suspect but now they've release

5:35 am
scheduled to be completed by next spring. time right now just about 5:35. i'm watching your money and your relationships. very fuss and mars, the old -- venus and mars, the old notion goes that men and women come from different planets but what we can say, a new study is bearing this out. we treat money differently. >> we found that men and women think about money and talk about money very differently. >> when it comes to those differences, can that affect a relationship if we don't acknowledge those differences and try to work around them? >> absolutely. not only do men and women talk about money, but we provide support to our family members differently. we found that mom was a lot more money -- likely to talk about money with kids or parents but dads are actually a lot more likely to open up the wallet and write a check.
5:36 am
so, yes, that can create financial issues and it can create emotional issues in a relationship. >> those are both significant actions there. we may both be guilty, men and women, of overlooking some important financial tanks, right? -- >> tasks, right? >> absolutely. in providing support to adult children and to parents, a lot of baby boomers are failing to make the connection that this could actually be derailing their retirement savings. and we know that a lot of americans are not on track so it's important to have the conversations with each other whether that's across a couple or across generations to decide what can you really afford, when and for how long so that you cannot only meet your short- term goals with your family members but also your longer- term goals for your own healthy financial future. >> i think it's so interesting that women love to talk about stuff and men will just take
