anything outside today. tomorrow, through father's day. and then next week, i hope you have access to air-conditioning or a pool because by tuesday and wednesday and thursday, we're going to be toasty. toasty we'll just put it that way. today though looking good. right now we've got generally clear to partly cloudy skies. temperatures are in the 60s in most areas and down to a very pleasant 65 at national. by noon sunny and 77. we'll hit a high about 82 there about 4:00 p.m. then by 3:00 back to the 80- degree mark and a gorgeous day. not much to show you on the satellite and radar this morning. there are a few little clouds mainly west of town right now. but temperatures are running into 60s and upper 50s like in winchester and cumberland at 59. easton down to 57. la plata 59 and name the warm spot -- annapolis the warm spot at 67. even maryland down to 62 at the pax river naval air station. the forecast highs may just someday in the upper 70s in one or two spots and most of us 80

to 82. gorgeous later on. monika samtani, friday morning. had a couple of issues early. we did unfortunately and one of them was serious up in west friendship. on the westbound side of i-70 right near route 40 and authorities are still on the scene investigating and doing their clean-up and paperwork. in the meantime you will be diverted and follow the police directions to get around that up in west friendship. a live look at 95 at route 32. not too far away from there. that's absolutely fine. no problems on the interstate between the baltimore beltway and ours. now over to virginia, on the northbound side of i-95, traffic volumes are light still. friday morning light as we like to call it. from dale city into woodbridge up into springfield absolutely final right now and a live look outside on the northbound side of i-395 here at duke street. again, all lanes are open. coming up in my next report, we'll look at maryland roads at 5:-- 09. back to you. she was planning to restier next year. now police are looking for her killer the killer of a local deli owner.

>> someone gunned down june lim yesterday as she was preparing to open her store in northeast d.c.. 9news now reporter delia goncalves is at the scene where friends and family will hold a vigil later today. such a sad story delia, good morning to you. >> reporter: it honestly is jessica. very unfortunately story and you really feel for community members and for her family as well. this woman just months away from some very happy moments in her live. including -- life. including retirement to the eastern shore. the vigil we're told is set for noon outside of the deli here. dell low grace on 7th -- deli grace on 7th and h streets in northeast. police are telling us around 6:00 a.m. yesterday, the 64-year-old was shot once in the neck during what investigators believe was a robbery. detectives say there were no signs of forced entry. june lim was apparently unloading her car when the suspectest either followed her into the store or made his way in afterwards and employees who

reported for work found their boss' body behind the counter. we spoke to her son yesterday. he still cannot believe these tragic events. >> this is before her time. and why the individual or individuals just couldn't have taken the money and left. my mom was planning to retire next year. my wife and i expecting our first child, her first grandchild. her birthday's in three weeks. >> reporter: very difficult for that family. and again i said you know, some very happy moments were just waiting for her in the near future. lim owned this deli for eight years we're told by her son. and the community loved her so much. when we were here yesterday, so many folks were coming out of their corner stores and of their shops. talking about just how generous this woman was. we're going to have some of their reaction coming up at 5:30. back to you. >> all right, i don't understand how something like that happens. delia goncalves reporting live

from d.c. police have made an arrest in the murder that brought fear to a neighborhood in reston, virginia. 40-year-old bharat patel was found dead just after midnight saturday in his apartment. he had recently opened a store just a few locks from his home. police now say patel was murdered by a family friend. 20-year-old abir ali a young man who helped patel open that dunkin' donuts and no word yet on the motive. they are blaming a stove for carbon monoxide leak that sent four people to the hospital. they were all feeling mild headaches and dizziness last night. firefighters checked other units in the building on blake lane and found three other stoves were emitting unsafe levels of gas. all of the patients are expected to recover. flag day celebrations took on a different twist in dupont circle last night. demonstrators gathered to

celebrate the district of columbia flag because d.c. isn't a state and therefore has no star on the american flag. participants brought banners, got flag tattoos, and created artwork to show their displeasure at not having state hood status. i'm watching your money on wall street, global markets are higher this morning ahead of a big weekend in europe. the greek elections could decide if that struggling country stays with the euro ask this morning traders here at home hope to follow on one of the best days of the year for wall street. stocks jumping on hopes the federal reserve will soon take steps to jump-start the economy. checking the numbers -- now after hovering at record lows, mortgage rates have gone up a little bit for the first time in nearly two

months. according to freddie mac the average rate on a 30 year loan is 3.71%. last week's record low 3.67%. rates still remain much lower than they were a year ago this week. and federal safety regulators have expanded an investigation of gas tank fires involving older model jeeps. after starting with 1993, the 2004 jeep grand cherokees now investigators are also looking at standard cherokees and jeep liberties through the 2007 model years there's a concern the rear end gas tanks can catch fire when hit from behind. now, the probe involves more than five million vehicles. chrysler says their vehicles are safe and that they're cooperating with this investigation. a court ruling could wreak havoc with this weekend's presidential election in egypt. that story is coming up. >> plus, a jury reaches a decision in a lawsuit pitting actors alec baldwin and kevin costner against each other.

prosecution witness in the jerry sandusky trial. he testified that sandusky began sexually abusing him when he was 12. during sleepovers in sandusky's basement where no one could hear his screams. the defense starts calling its witnesses on monday. the actor versus actor, courtroom clash is now over. steven bald win sued kevin costner claiming he tricked him into selling shares just before it got millions to help with the bp spill. however jurors sided with costner and baldwin is left empty-handed. he danced and sang in his underwear but are you ready to see tom cruise play anaging rock star -- an aging rock tar? we will review it at 5:56. >> last night's nba finals game ended up resting on the shoulders of lebron james. highlights coming up at 5:21. >> next at 5:15, rock of ages huge fan howard bernstein has a

temperature of 80 degrees. and it's not going to be humid. it's going to be really very pleasant like it is now. with upper 50s here in northern montgomery county. reston is 59. it's 63 for leesburg this morning. and manassas. fort belvoir down to 60. that's a beautiful place down there along with crofton at 59 and columbia bwi 60 degrees. looking outside on the michael & son weather camera we've got these sky brightening. i love this kind of morning when you've got the contrast like that. 65 degrees at national. clear skies. and an east northeast wind at 5 miles an hour. our weather headlines, nice again today. in fact it looks like it's going to be a great weekend. it's dry, warm air is going to be with us for another couple of days. although we're going to turn hot next week and i mean really hot. mid 90s by wednesday and thursday and even starting monday afternoon, isolated afternoon thunderstorms looks like to the end of next week a front comes through here and not going to increase the rain

chances. right now you're looking at high pressure blocking just about everything from coming toward us and other than a patch or two of clouds here and there, look how nice and quiet it is on the futurecast for your friday. our forecast today, 82. very pleasant. back in the 50s and 60s tonight. very nice again tomorrow and on father's day as with we slowly climb to the mid 80s, as far as the beach forecast, water temperatures now in the upper 60s. air temperatures today, tomorrow, sunday, monday, they'll all be in the 70s over there and looks like a great weekend to be at the beach. the rest of the seven day forecast now by monday we'll be in the mid 80s and maybe an isolated storm. i think the better chance will be west of town. here comes the heat tuesday, wednesday and thursday as we climb into the middle 90s with the isolated afternoon thunderstorms. it is 5:16. monika samtani's in with your friday morning timesaver traffic and there are a couple of areas you really got to watch out for. i tell you not usually this on a friday morning. but this morning, we have two

separate incidents to tell you ability. one of the beltway look at that. an overturned vehicle i found this icon for you on the outer loop of the beltway just after university boulevard. in fact, we'll take a live look at the beltway and spree if it's affecting of traffic yet and -- traffic yet and there it is. it's on the right side the road, this is the westbound side of 495 outer loop heading past university boulevard at 5:17 in the morning on friday. . you want to head out the door early and maybe choose an alternate route and i will keep you post on this situation. but luckily as you can see the crews have arrived to take care of the situation. now let's go back over to the maps, there was another pretty serious accident overnight. it was two vehicles happened in the 1:00 hour westbound on i-70 right here after route 40. this area is called west friendship and right now police are still diverting traffic through the area and i think it should be cleared up pretty shortly. and we'll end with a live look on the south side of town. at least the beltway here in oxon hill looks great heading for the wilson bridge. two incidents i will keep you updated on coming coming up in

temperatures in the mid 60s in town and some upper 50s in some of the suburbs. noontime temperatures 78 and by 5:00 80 after topping out around 82, 83 or so. yesterday we got to 83 even though we had clouds around and a gorgeous morning out there. notice a few clouds here and there a little tough to see this grayish area that's some of the clouds that are mixing in. 60 frederick, winchester is 59 degrees. we've got 67 in annapolis. but in easton, 57. and even la plata at 59. a gorgeous day today and humidity levels are going to be down and look at your afternoon highs. upper 70s to low 80s. monika samtani, good morning. good morning howard. if you are planning to head out the door right now, and you saw me a few minutes ago talking about this accident on the outer loop after university boulevard. well, let's take a live look and see what great work police did to get this out of the roadway. i everything's moved to the right shoulder and in fact looks like just the police vehicle left here. it did leave slow traffic for you. the right half of the road was

closed for a bit but i'm happy to say that it's looking much battener silver spring. this time all the way out west where there are no issues to report. a few brake lights in manassas, otherwise you're fine into fairfax. no problems on the dulles toll road to the airport and a live look now inbound i-66234 centreville nice and light this morning. coming up in my next report, another look at area roads. law enforcement officials from trying to stop the spread of a danger new drug. >> the street name is bath salts and i want to warn you this gets pretty graphic. in florida where a man was believed to have been high on the synthetic truck he tried to chew off -- drug he tried to chew off another man's face before police killed him. including just west of the virginia suburbs it's on the rise. >> i can say that western -- the western part of virginia and parts of west virginia. there is a lot of bath salt so- called bath salt abuse.

>> after just a few hundred cases were documented back in 2010, poison control officials recorded more than 6,000 cases last year where people were treated for getting high on bath salts. police are looking for a killer who took the life of a beloved local store owner. june lim was gunned down early yesterday as she opened up grace deli in northeast washington. 9news now reporter delia goncalves is live outside the store where lim's family and customers are in shock. good morning delia. >> reporter: absolutely, good morning andrea. a very sad story and there's a vigil scheduled for a little later this afternoon to remember the life of june lim and exactly what she meant to the community. and to her family, signs like these are taped all around the building here this morning. as folks here try to come to terms with the tragedy that happened just about 24 hours ago. police are telling us that 64- year-old june lim was unloading her car preparing to open the

deli around 6:00 a.m. yesterday when she may have been followed into the store. detectives believe robbery was the motive but will not disclose what was taken. she died from a single gunshot wound to the neck. >> at home and you know -- me and her wise. and they called me and told me what had happened to her. and so i started shaking. >> at this time we do know that the gate was open when the police arrived. we don't know if somebody followed her in or came in after she was inside the establishment. >> reporter: still, a lot of unanswered questions at this point. police scoured the area. they don't have any leads at this point. we're told. and to whether or not someone may have witnessed something but they are certain that someone in the area could have seen this perpetrator follow lim into the store. so they're asking for anyone to come forward with information. june lim owned this deli for

eight years. well loved in the community like you said andrea. and coming up at 6:00, we're going to have more on her life. what she meant to the community and what she meant to her family. she was about to be a grandmother and just a short time. for the first time. back to you. >> all right, delia goncalves reporting live from northeast washington. the attacker known as the potomac river rapist has been linked to another crime. >> this guy hunts women. he hunts women because that's his hobby. >> that's john walsh from "america's most wanted." talking about the serial rapist. detectives say new analysis of dna recovered from a jewel 1996 scene links a tenth crime to this same attacker. detectives say the woman was dragged into the woods and attacked on macarthur boulevard in northwest d.c.. he hasn't been heard from since a deadly attack will in 1998. today virginia's board of health will vote on new regulations for abortion clinics. if approved the new rules would

require clinics to achieve standards like those for full hospitals. opponents say that could force 20 of the state's 23 clinics that perform abortions to close. supporters say the new rules are meant to ensure womens' health. the time right now is 5:34 and i'm watching your money and your debt. if your student loans have been stressing you out lately, you are not alone. americans now own -- owe more on their student loans than on their credit cards and once you rack up that debt, you're pretty much stuck with it. for good. for example, all of that debt is pretty much impossible to wipe out in a personal bankruptcy. but daily finance suggests a couple of jobs that college grads could consider to help attack those loans. number one, become a teacher. you might be able to get up to $17,500 of your stafford loans repaid. perkins loans may qualify for full forgiveness. number two, consider joining

the peace corps. you can cancel up to 70% of your perkins student loan debt while you see the world as a member of the peace corps. number three, become a rural veterinarian. if you love working with animals and hate living in debt, this may be the option for you. the department of agriculture's veterinary medicine loan repayment program offers up to $75,000 in loan forgiveness timbale fewed applicant -- to qualified applicants. and number four work for a state. maryland and other states will help you pay off loans for state employees who've studied law and several programs will also pay off loans for lawyers who work with nonprofits or public interest groups. so those are some options for folks. >> didn't know about that and that's good keys to helping bring down this debt especially if you don't come to an agreement and the balloon notarizes. >> yeah exact lay. it is 5:35. an exhibit opening today tells the story of the war of 1812.

sunshine, temperatures in the 70s over at the atlantic coast for the next several days. by monday mid maybe upper 80s and could be a stray afternoon storm west of town. then there's the heat tuesday, wednesday can thursday we head to the mid 90s by thursday and by the way the official astronomical start of summer is wednesday at 7:09 in the evening. monika samtani's stepping in at 5:48 and things unfortunately going downhill for commuters. you know it's surprising because usually on a friday morning i'm all smiles and things are looking great but this morning, it's been a little different on the outer loop of the beltway, right near route 202 a pretty major accident right now. let's take a live look from our cameras ask as you can see traffic is really not moving right now. at one point only the right lane was getting through. they may have close all the lanes right now and you are not used to this of course. heading southbound on the
