possible to make the military a model of equal opportunity. a victory for abortion rights supporters in virginia today. the board of health -- new abortion clinic regulations, which critics argued would have forced most of them to shut down. peggy fox has the latest from richmond. >> a few hundred protesters shouted and stood still, expressing their opposition to new abortion clinic regulations expected to be approved by the virginia department of health today. >> they are unfairly targeting abortion providers. they are not choosing to apply these rules from outpatient clinic services that are more dangerous. >> dozens of people, including four doctors opposed to the recommendations told the board they are not medically necessary. >> it is appalling, in my opinion, that this administration has hijacked the work of the health professionals who protect the health and welfare of patients

she gave it to you anyway. >> the search for kim's killer is going on. police believe robbery was motive. a $25,000 reward is being offered for information leading to an arrest. two former metro workers are headed to jail for stealing more than $500,000 from fair card machines. former metro police officer, john hale of woodbridge was sentenced to three years in prison. got a 2 1/2 year sentence. police say the pair would collect funds from metro station, stash bags of money and go back in their personal cars to get those bags. both men admitted laundering the stolen funds by purchasing an extraordinary amount of virginia lottery tickets. the occupational safety and health administration, osha, is investigating an accident that has a utility worker fighting for his life. investigators say the man was working up in a bucket suspended above the ground when somehow he fell out and he was hit by a truck. at the intersection of route

355 in king farm boulevard in rockville. that worker rushed to the hospital with critical injuries that are believed to be life threatening. a rockville resident died today in a small plane crash in carol county. his aircraft went down at the regional airport in westminster, maryland. the victim, 64-year-old henry. he reported his plane was having some kind of mechanical problem shortly before it fell from the sky. investigators are still trying to figure out exactly what caused the crash. place your bet. mgm resorts reached an agreement to build a new casino at the national harbor complex near oxen hill. the proposal includes nearly 4,000 slot machines, 250 tables of games, plus shopping, restaurants, and a luxury hotel. now this deal is contingent on the maryland general assembly passing legislation that would allow a sixth casino in the state. >> we have partnered with the peterson family to explore the

a hollywood style legal drama has come to an end in new orleans. actors kevin costner went to court over business deals to help clean up the gulf of mexico following the bp oil spill. that massive one in 2010. tonya has more from the big easy. >> reporter: a relieved and vindicated kevin costner walked out of new orleans federal court after an eight-member federal jury ruled in his favor. >> jury was doing their best to understand everything in a very, not terribly complicated, but seemingly complicated issue. and they were really smart. >> the lawsuit stems from claims made by actor, steven baldwin, and a friend who say that kevin costner misled them into selling their shares of oil extractor devices. the lawsuit says that baldwin and his partner walked away

with only $2 million. when bp would later buy 32 devices for $52 million. >> it was my good luck that they saw the truth of their story and the good luck of this company and everybody involved that they understood we were talking about facts and not a story. >> disappointed. we believe that we put on a case sufficient to cause the jury to find in our favor. the jury found the other way. >> baldwin's attorney asked to award the plaintiffs with $17 million in damages. the actor and his friend received nothing. >> we respect that verdict. they work very hard. they were an attentive panel and we had a different view. that's the beauty of our system. >> now that whole trial took two weeks. the eight jurors deliberated less than two hours before coming to their decision. topper shutt has a gorgeous father's day weekend forecast. stand by to be awed.
