largest health clinic say they will continue to treat all patients, including those with no insurance. keen is the president of unity health and he is a big-time advocate of universal healthcare and the president's plan to require everyone to have insurance. >> there's been no other serious effort to cover the 32 million people uninsured in the united states. this is a format to include the quality of care and to reduce costs. >> this clinic is already made possible by local and federal dollars from elected leaders sold on universal healthcare. the house is also expected to vote tomorrow on whether to hold attorney general, eric holder, in contempt of congress. it stems from the operation known as fast and furious. the failed government plan put guns into the hands of mexican drug cartels. >> we are facing a potentially devastating disaster right

here. and we are well prepared and working through things. >> out of control wild fires are scorching parts of colorado tonight. in what some say is the worst fire season in the history of that state. authorities have evacuated more than 32,000 people from their homes outside of colorado springs. but walden canyon fire doubled in size since this time yesterday. thousands of residents near boulder are on stand by to leave their homes in case that wild fire gets worse. a falls church man who held police at bay for 28 hours is being charged with firing a handgun inside a building. police say he fired it three times and made threats as well. peggy fox explains from the home on hillwood avenue. >> here at the house, this are a few signs of the long police standoff. the barricades lying here on the grass and the contractors who are here replacing the shattered windows. police say the man who caused the 28 hour standoff is 57-year-

old, james, to get him to surrender, police played recorded messages from his family members and launched pepper spray into the house. >> essentially, it was tased. he surrendered to the s.w.a.t. team. >> the standoff began monday afternoon with police barricading the busy hillwood avenue. traffic was a mess and residents couldn't get home. >> the response is overblown. especially from what i have seen from the fire units. full resources are definitely, they need support from the other counties. it's over blown for one guy. >> one guy can do a lot of damage. >> police say his sister told them her brother had doused himself with gasoline and was going to set himself and the house on fire. their 95-year-old father was still inside. two officers were able to rescue the father while another officer talked to the suspect who displayed a handgun and told him to stay back. police say the officers inside smelled a strong odor of gasoline. >> the priority is

off the attacker. please call metropolitan police if you know anything about this case. a gutted out building is all that remains. gunmen bomb buildings, kidnap the staff, and killed at least seven employees at the company. syrian president is ordering his newly appointed government to do whatever it takes to wipe out the uprising against him. the food and drug administration gave a green light to the first new prescription diet drug in a decade. the agency approved belviq for adults overweight and have at least one medical issue. dizziness, fatigue, back pain, and dry mouth are side effects. the drug could also damage heart valves. many doctors say the safest way to lose weight is still through diet and exercise, not pills. mother nature is really going to kick up the temperatures quite a few

welcome back. we are live at congressional country club. i'm derek mcginty. tomorrow, the tournament kicks off right here and today was the proam. the amateurs finishing up in the next 30 minutes. as everyone knows, tiger woods is the man. he was out there early today doing his thing. he'll be out tomorrow afternoon at 6:00. we'll take a welcome at tiger earlier this afternoon where he teed off. looking smooth and sweet as always. as we know, tomorrow when the main event gets started, tiger woods not only has to overcome all those determined pros, but a course, which has been redesigned, especially for this tournament and the heat, which is going to be rough on everybody as well. anita, talk about the tournament plans to handle all of that. we like to welcome him here to our set live at the course. thanks for being here.

we appreciate it. >> thanks for having me. >> let's talk about the big 800 pound gorilla. triple digit temperatures, thousands of people. first of all, how do you handle it in terms of the fans and course itself? >> let's start with the course first. the course is healthy and we, as you know living here, we've had a great spring season that allowed the course to mature and it is in the best condition it's been. the course can handle the heat as long as we have the water and facilities. >> when the heat gets hot, somebody is going to get sick. what do you have planned for that? >> we have first aid stations spread out around the golf course. we have montgomery county provided us with rescue squads out to allow to take patrons who need assistance off property. we have refreshment stations around and plenty of opportunities to give water. >> we also want to talk about the fact that if you drove a long way to get here and you

want to see tiger woods, there's room for you. >> we would love to have them. >> we mention the course, you had to do a will the of work to change the course from something you and i could hack on to something the pros can deal with. >> that's a great question. starting at the beginning of this year, we helped this course firm up, become firm and fast. to allow the pros and members for that matter, and guests, to play at a golf course where you can get some roll. where the rough is a difficult test in golf. for the members, take the rough back down to a more favorable rough length next week. >> all right, parking is tight. let's use the shuttle. last year you had the fair grounds open for shuttles. the u.s. open. this year that's gone away. >> we have other opportunities and other options for the pay trans to use parking. if you go on the website, there are directions for you. >> we thank you for your time this evening. looking forward to a great

well, a recent study finds a lot of people don't understand how a credit score works. why it all matters anyway. jessica doyle has more on credit score myth busting. >> a bad credit score can really hurt you. score low and the higher interest rates you'll pay on loans and credit cards can cost you thousands more every year. so how do you earn a high score? don't buy into these myths. myth number one, canceling credit cards or moving all of your debt on to one card will boost your score. >> if you are canceling credit cards, that can hurt you because some of the other factors that go into a credit

score include the ratio of credit that you have available compared with the amount that you owe. and then also the length of time you've had credit cards. >> a higher credit score boils down to your history. responsible credit card behavior. that's why paying for everything with a debit card or cash is also a bad idea. myth number two, a bankruptcy is a cure all for your credit problems. >> bankruptcy is going to hurt you in the long run. it does not make all debts go away. notably student loans and it stays on your record for seven years. it will haunt you if you look for a car loan. it will haunt you if you look for a more gage. >> mortgage. >> one of the worst myths. there are national credit counseling organizations that are there to help you figure out how to get a handle on your debt. if you can pay someone for a

quick fix, think twice, because it won't work. >> bottom line, is an offer seems too good to be true, it probably is. among many findings, the consumer federation of america says 2/3 of people surveyed did not know how costly a low credit score can be. jessica doyle, 9news now. >> heavy wind and rain from what was tropical storm debbie, soaked nearly every one of the 67 counties in florida. at a retirement community outside of tampa, life is simply unbearable. a boat is the only way out. >> it is totally miserable. you can't do anything. water is up to the doorstep. no air-conditioning. no electricity. you can't flush your toilet. that's a trick, believe me. >> we believe you. in north florida's live oak, 80% of homes are flooded. near jacksonville, rushing waters washed away a 25-foot section of this brand-new road.

really, a beautiful evening. 86 in college park. 85 up in laurel. so here's the deal. last comfortable night for a while. not as cool tonight, but still border line comfortable. grab your sunglasses for tomorrow morning's commute. it will be hot by lunchtime, but the serious heat rolls in on friday. tomorrow is not crazy hot, but friday will be crazy hot. thursday's forecast, look at the areas 100 or higher. dallas, oklahoma city. 104 forecast in kansas city. 105 in st. louis and 101 in chicago and 100 in detroit. there's no way that heat is going to miss us, believe me. tonight, returning clear, not as cool. turn on the ac, maybe. winds become westerly at 10. by morning, mostly sunny, very warm by lunchtime. 70s and 80s. some areas could be flirting with 90. north, northwest at 10. by afternoon, partly cloudy, hot again. a little more humid, but not crazy humid.

high temperatures about 95. near 95 anyway. so we'll break it down for you. comfortable to start. 63 to 73. hot by noon. 86 to 92 and 92 to 95 by evening. note we have kept it shower and thunderstorm free. 9 alert codes, it goes green, yellow, yellow. got to give it a yellow and on saturday, between the heat and a thunderstorm and 100 degrees, we have to give it a yellow. here's the deal. the storms are not going to be widespread, anything that develops could be heavy, could be severe. next seven days, well it stays hot. we're talking about upper 90s on sunday. back in the mid 90s monday and tuesday. the fourth of july is next wednesday, lesli, and we're looking at temperatures in the mid 90s with an isolated thunderstorm. so 90s are here to stay and scattered storms here to stay, too. >> i need you to rate your rock, paper, scissors skills from 1 to 10. >> 5. >> here's an opponent i know
