of congress charge against attorney general eric holder. he is accused of failing to supply documents to the house oversight committee investigating fast and furious. that is the failed atf gun smuggling operation. president obama has declared executive privilege over the documents in question. an attack on a tv station in syria is being blamed on antigovernment rebels. seven people were killed in the attack. it came hours after the president said the country is in quote a real estate of war. -- ray real -- a real, state of war. the catholic diocese of arlington is subject of the sexual abuse lawsuit. a woman says she went to a priest to upped go an ex says imbut claims the man sexually abused her for several months.

now she is suing the catholic diocese of arlington, which covers northern virginia. she is seeking more than $5 million. the diocese said he never served as a priest for them. dc police are searching for a man who attempted to sexually assault a woman inside her home. a man fitting this description burst into the victim's home and tried to sexually assault her. she was able to fend off the attacker, and if you have any information on this crime, you are asked to call metropolitan police. here's a look at other things making news now. president obama is scheduled to fly to colorado today. he will tour some of the damage from the massive wildfires across the state. >> shifting winds and high heat are fueling the fires. the waldo canyon fire has forced the evacuation of more than

30,000 people. >> the flames have been so intense the smoke so thick, firefighters have been unable to count how many homes have been lost. randall pinkston has more from colorado. >> reporter: in the hills around colorado springs the winds are winning, fanned by gusts up to 60 miles per hour a huge wildfire is consuming everything in its path. >> wind is one of the big factors and it is one of the reasons it is difficult to fight. >> reporter: more than 3 2,000 people were ordered out of their homes as the fire reduced entire neighborhoods to ash. firefighters have been so busy to try to save homes from the flames, they haven't counted how many homes have been lost. scott deed's son was killed in iraq in 2005. on monday he was in danger of losing his home, pausing only to take the flag.

>> the flag is my son's i lost him in iraq. i want to make sure i take that down along with the marine and all the other flags go with that. >> reporter: the flames are threatening buildings on the air force academy's campus. ten acres of it have already burned. >> we are facing a potentially devastating disaster here. >> reporter: this fire is unwith of several burning across colorado. president obama is scheduled to see conditions for himself on friday. unless the weather cooperates those conditions would likely be worse. randall pinkston, cbs news, colorado springs, colorado. >> the red cross has opened five shelters in colorado springs. as debby heads out into the atlantic ocean florida residents are left to clean up the damage. debby being blamed for at least three deaths at this point. more than 100 homes and businesses are flooded by debby's heavy rains.

good morning. welcome back to 9news now. we are almost to the weekend, but we are not sure we want to get there with the heat that olga has on her forecast, it is going to be in the 90s, it is the end of june. we are prepared for that, is there any good news in. >> if you like the forecast hot, i think it is very good news for you. temperatures today absolutely, going to be someplace cool, or at least have that ac cranking as you get out and about. today not too bad. definitely a hot day because we'll hit the mid 90s. our humidity is going to be reasonable for today. as we head into tonight and

tomorrow you are going to notice the mugginess start to creep back in onto the good things. mainly clear skies this morning and our temperatures are sitting into the 60s, near the lower 70s in town. we'll hit the middle 70s by lawsuit late -- later on this afternoon. noon time, you'll notice the spike, we are definitely calling today a hot one. sunny skies into the 90s, but i think reagan national should settle up near the 94, 95 degrees. we will keep our winds mainly out of the south and southwest and that is going to bring in some of the mugginess and humidity will creep back in tonight and tomorrow. satellite and radar, not much happening right now. high, thin clouds will star to stream on through, but we are mostly sunny for today, partly cloudy overnight. current temperatures 65 from leesburg. 58 in re: . 72 for reagan

by saturday and yes, once the heat arrives it is going to stick around. the 7-day forecast will feature excessive heat as we remain through the weekend. good morning, everybody. it is cool out right now. if you want to head out the door and hit the roads, i think this is a good time to do that. overnight construction is clearing stages on the beltway west side of town. 270 is looking great out of frederick. a live look right now route 198, you are fine heading southbound here. same story on 95 out of laurel no problems on the parkway or route 50. in fact back over to our map, this time southern maryland. looking great on route 5, route 4, 301, 210 as well and now a live look at route 50 coming in from the bay bridge all the way to the beltway lanes are open. next report we'll go to 66 out west at 4:55. back to you guys.

as we just heard from olga, our region is about to experience the first true long heat wave of the summer. >> possibly triple-digits, we'll have to see over the next couple of days. most if not all of us will be jacking up the ac, testing the capabilities of the local utility companies. scott broom went out and looked at what pep co-is doing to deal with the expected energy overload. >> reporter: i'm scott broom in bethesda where the utility says it is poised for record heat and record demand would no anticipation of trouble. >> no difficulty right now. >> we are very well situated for managing the load with our transmission system. >> reporter: pep co-is on a regional grid, 6 2,000 miles of lines that connect new jersey to this area. 164,000 mega watts were used

last summer but it can handle hanover than 185,000. that doesn't mean power comes cheap during heat waves. the realtime wholesale power prices jumped 60% from one week to the next. >> you also know in maryland, the district of columbia, we have been very aggressive with the energy efficiency. >> reporter: scott broom, 9news now. in health news, a new vaccine could help smokers quit for good. researchers in new york tested the vaccine on mice and found a single dose for nicotine addiction for an entire lifetime. the vaccine introduces antibodies that attack the nicotine before it reaches the brain or heart. it needs a few more rounds of testing before it can be test go on people. a new study in the netherlands found that standing for long periods of time for pregnant women may slow the growth rate of a fetus. women in childcare and teaching had babies whose heads were

about 3% smaller than average. for jobs without a lot of standing researchers found in negative effects from working long hours during pregnancy. teenagers who have trouble with social lives may grow up to face more health risks as adults. researchers focused on adolescents with problematic relationships with their peers and found the group was 36% more likely to suffer from met boletic and cardiovascular issues, including obesity and high blood pressure. the food and drug administration has approved the first prescription diet drug in a decade. >> belviq got the green light. >> lisa suddenner has been struggling with her weight for years. >> i was always a normal weight until after i had my last child, in my mid-30s. and something just changes in me after that, where i could be control what i ate. > >> reporter: the 51-year-old

enrolled in a clinical trial, testing a new weight loss drug caldwell vehicle. the drug acts on the same area of the rain that controls appetite and metabolism. in one year she lost 40 pounds, about 20% of per body weight. >> i didn't feel hungry. >> it can double, triple the number of people who can lose 10% or more of their body weight in conjunction with a diet program. >> fda advise soldiers had concerns the drug could damage heart valves and breast and brain tumors were seen in animal studies. many doctors feel the safest way to lose weight is through diet and exercise. >> taking the liquid calories out, getting extra walking in helps you to lose that weight slowly and steadily. >> reporter: sutter has struggled with her weight since going off the pill. >> i started feeling extremely hungry again and started
