locations. today more triple-digits. doppler radar clear in the metro area. showers and storms staying off to the north now. we are expecting the opportunity for possibly heavy weather coming on through, so far so good right now. a quiet shot at the nation's capital. morning temperatures we are going to push quickly through the 80s. we should be in the middle 90s by lunch time and hit a high at reagan national of 101 later on this afternoon. we'll clear out some of the cloud cover, the next three days will be on the warm side. we have given it a yellow alert for today tomorrow and into sunday because of the showers and thunderstorms. but the triple-digit heat is going to hold on. we'll get a little bit of a break sunday. it won't be until after that front moves on through. tuesday into wednesday, we begin to see the north and northwest winds and that is going to help us cool down. monika. good morning, everybody. if you are plan ago head on the

southbound side, this is a big story of the morning. luckily all things considered it is not that big considering it was on the southbound side of 395. this happened with a live look right now. where a dump truck hit it. in the meantime traffic is getting by to the left. i assume that a little later this morning it may get a little heavy. we don't know exactly when they will be finished with that work. northbound all lanes are open. that is good for rush hour up to duke street and the 14th street bridge. let's look at the maps again and decide if you are heading in from southbound 270, watch out for the accident at 55 at montgomery village avenue. prince george's county rescuers have spent the night searching for a person missing after a roof collapse. >> 9news reporter delia is live

at the scene with details. >> reporter: good morning, it has been a long and slow and deliberate process for the rescue crews on the scene. they have been here throughout the night, searching for that missing employee. it is unclear at this point if that employee is safe at home, or trapped inside the building, but all accounts, they are searching vigorously for this person who could still be inside. around 10:00 we are told crews were called to this paper storage facility warehouse here in prince george's county for a roof collapse and the wall, we are told, was bowed about 5 degrees. 25 workers, we are told, were inside at the time. they evacuated safely, however this one last worker remains unaccounted for. they are also told there were large stacks of documents where they stored all these papers inside the warehouse and many

of the stacks tumbled when the roof came down last night. we don't know an exact cause. we are told there is no explosion here. this is a paper storage facility, so it is unclear if there are any chemicals used inside. we do know this building is the old safeway warehouse. we are also told that a spokesperson from prince george's county fire is on his way here. we are hoping to have a live interview with him in the next half hour and hopefully wring you more -- bring you more details as to the progress of the rescue crews here on the scene. jessica, andrea? the supreme court's ruling on the affordable healthcare act will have people talking for days and weeks to come. the high court did not strike down the part many thought was in jeopardy. the individual mandate which requires americans to purchase health insurance or pay a penalty will stand. the swing vote in this ruling

president obama has declared a major federal disaster and he will visit the area later today. in florida, police are finding bodies as flood waters recede from tropical storm debby. in some places, authorities say this is the worst flooding in nearly 50 years. for the first time the house of representatives has voted to hold an attorney general in contempt of congress. eric holder's vote went along party lines. republicans are upset holder didn't release all the documents they wanted related to the fast and furious gun operation. switching gears, i have already bought my tickets to see "magic mike ." at 5:93 an expert is here with his ideas to make money from online social networking. eventually we won't have to worry about hitting triple-digits. details in the 7-day forecast.

air conditioning, stay indoors, if you can. if you are sensitive to the outdoors, you really want to stay inside, today is not the day to take a chance on that. so far this morning, we are seeing very high humidity, doppler radar popping just a few showers and storms across northern portions of maryland, baltimore north of the baltimore beltway. we are in the clear so far at the dc metro. officially today will be partly cloudy. we are building more of that cloud cover later on in the afternoon and stir up the ton for showers and thunderstorms to really rumble on there later on today. we'll continue to monitor the progress of that development for you. morning temperatures again near 80 degrees at least for right now we are going to slide through the 90s very, very quickly. we should hit our high today right around 101 at reagan

national airport, backing down in the 70s later on in the evening. it is still going to be a muggy night tonight. heat advisory, until 9:00. take precautions if you are stepping outside. the record highs, yes there are in jeopardy. -- they are in jeopardy. an opportunity for a shower or thunderstorm develop, could rumble on through. we'll definitely see this heat continuing with us as we head on through the entire weekend. doppler radar beginning to calm down a little bit. now expired a company of counties are still in yellow off toward our north. the heat advisory, alert for us is not going anywhere anytime soon. so far we have until 9:00 tonight with tomorrow's forecast high of 100. more than likely they will issue an extension of the heat advisory. if you are heading out and about this morning we will see the

all eyes and lenses were on the host himself, tiger woods. but it was a rough first round for him. tiger never got under par yesterday. he is currently tied for 30th at one over par. the leader after round one is bo van pelt. he played the only bogey free golf of the day, including an eagle on the par 4 first hole. he is 4 under par and leading after one round. the host of the tournament though, woods, said this course is tough. >> a couple of shots today. the ball bounces high at the flags. it is an adjustment we have to make. if it is not in the fairway, it is in the deep stuff. so it is a different set up. it is hard and fast. >> the wizards making a splash last night in the nba draft. they took just one minute to

been -- the high heat. we have been warning you for a couple of days. finally got to us about three days later. outside right now, we are doing okay, partly cloudy skies. we even have sunshine this morning. the temperatures have been very high overnight, muggy air kept us mainly in the upper 70s. your 80 degrees will continue to push on through. 95 by your lunch break today. highs by later on this afternoon expecting to hit triple-digits. reagan national airport's record for today is 101. we will at least tie, possibly break that record as we head later on in the day, dulles's record at 105 will be safe for today. we will continue to monitor the possibility for late day sunflowers and thunderstorms. that is why today is a code yellow alert day. 100-degree heat for saturday as well. sunday a little bit of a break. the next front approaches that shifts our winds to the

northwest. look at the difference it makes. down into the lower 90s by tuesday. looks good, we are tracking the opportunity for the return of rain come thursday. monika? >> reporter: usually in the summer traffic is light and even lighter on friday morning. last friday proved me wrong and this friday is proving me wrong. first of all a dump truck hit an overhead side overnight. crews are there working on that and now there is an accident on the northbound side of 395 it does involve a tractor trailer. we'll show what you it looks like live right now in the hov lanes. they turned the camera around just a second ago. northbound side of 395 at the pentagon basically in the lane. the main lanes remain open. let's go back over to our maps. this time we'll take you all the way up to 270. there is an accident on route

355 on montgomery village avenue. here's what it looks like at the beltway in oxen hill. thank you monika. this morning a rescue operation is underway in land over, maryland. one person still unaccounted for after a roof collapsed. >> this happened in a large warehouse. 9news now delia has the latest. >> reporter: we just spoke to mark the pi o, with prince george's county rescue and fire. we are speaking to investigators now to give us more information. but we do know that perhaps a crane was involved in the collapse of this building. he is going to get some more information for us but we do know there was a crane involved. we know crews who have been working since last night to try to rescue this person we know

those crews have been working in the area. the man was last seen working inside the building. that is the latest information we know so far. the collapse happened around 10:00. crews were called here for that roof collapse and they were also told there was a wall that was bowed about 45 degrees, 25 workers were inside. they were able to evacuate safely. however that one man, still unaccounted for and crews are working through the night and have been here all night long and early this morning to try to find that man. it is unclear if perhaps he is home or still trapped inside. but as you can imagine, it is a very tense situation so they are working deliberately, very slowly, piece by piece, trying to get through this building working through the night and in the darkness of night to try to rescue this man, who could still be inside. again, we just spoke to prince george's county, fire pi o, mark

brady says a crane could be involved in this collapse. crews are working in the area the man was last seen working inside the warehouse, hoping to find him. we'll have much more information as this continues to develop in the next half hour. reaction is flooding in from all corners from the supreme court's ruling. the court let stand most provisions in the affordable care act, including the mandate requiring americans to buy health insurance. the one part the justices struck down has to do with medicaid. they ruled the federal government could not force states to expand medicaid to cover more low income families. critics of the law called that a win. >> the supreme court for the first time declared explicitly the outer limits of federal power under the commerce clause. that has never happened since the new deal and that is a win

good morning, welcome back to 9news now, 5:45 on this friday morning. it is muggy, humid, sticky, it is ugly out there. olga breese has the rest of our morning weather. >> yes and we told you so. we knew it was inevitable. we watched all of this heat and humidity track across the nation and yes, it is now here, on our doorstep. we are looking at muggy conditions this morning. humidity is high, we have passing clouds at this hour. our forecast for today is definitely going to keep the heat around. we are going to dial it up more

than what we have seen over the last company of days. we'll keep a little bit of sunshine through midday and early afternoon. we'll push quickly through the 90s in the lunch hour and hit the triple-digits by early in the afternoon. 3:00 to 4:00 temperatures should hit at 101 at reagan national airport. in and around the region for most of us, it looks like the forecast for today, it is going to stay on the muggy side. and with the high heat index and temperatures going into the triple-digits, the weather service has given us that heat advisory. as we head into the afternoon and evening hours, we are looking at possibility of breaking records. the 101 at reagan national, we could beat and tie that record .10 5 at dulles airport, the opportunities for showers and thunderstorms is also entering our forecast later on this afternoon. so far this morning the showers

and storms stayed north of the metro region. we are going to carry this heat from saturday and into portions of sunday. we'll cool back down a little bit next week. doppler radar 9000 storms continue to push off toward the east. not really a threat to our region as of right now. we could revisit that later on this afternoon and this evening. watch until about 9:00 to want, covers the entire metro area, in toward philadelphia and southern portions of new jersey. we will get very close to our record with the dulles record of only 95, we'll beat that and put a new one in the books. baltimore at 105 we are only forecasting about 100 degrees for baltimore today. right now temperatures are in the 70s, upper 70s to near 80 degrees. it is feeling a couple of degrees warmer.

futurecast is going to keep us in the clear through midday. late in the afternoon and evening we could pop a shower moving on through. tomorrow starts pretty good. another round of showers and storms could move on through. highs today into those triple-digits. the seven day forecast it is going to stay sticky and steamy for the short-term. even sunday is going to be a little bit on the warm side. we'll get a little bit of a break monday and tuesday. monika? if you are planning to head inbound, through virginia on the gw parkway, you'll want to know about this. an accident just reported on the southbound side of the gw parkway. i'm hearing there could be up to five vehicles involved on the southbound side of the parkway. no lane information given yet. i'll give that you as soon as i get that. in the meantime be aware about
