their electricity back. dominion virginia has moerman 6600 outages. -- more than 6600 outages. 6500 outages for pepco are in prince george's county. 900 in the district. 9news reported now, delia joins us from an unlucky neighborhood in bethesda. good morning delia. >> reporter: good morning andrea and mike. it is muggy outside already. you can certainly imagine, and feel for the folks inside their homes, sleeping without air conditioning this morning. this is the reason why. take a look behind me, here on thorn apple and beachwood right off connecticut avenue. you can see the utility pole snapped in half and leaving a tangled mess of debris and wires and trees. when you were driving around this neighborhood looking to scout out this location, there are just tree limbs everywhere

in this neighborhood and it is pitch black. folks are driving slowly through the neighborhood as they encounter these detours scattered throughout. as we take a look at the video that we shot just yesterday in the daylight hours, you can see crowes were making progress and heading to neighborhoods to restore power. however they were encountering some residents who aren't exactly pleased. they are frustrated at the fact it was taken so long for the power to be restored. we talked to some people sh even though they were sympathetic to the fact that pepco crews are working long hours. they are having a big job ahead of them some said power was restored too quickly because pepco never made the area and the downed wires in their neighborhood safe before turning the power on. >> you are looking at a combination of the main power supply to our house.

electrical devices. both buildings have free wi-fi. at 6:05 we have other news and a wild night for prince george's county police officers. it started when they got a call for a man way gun. police say there was an exchange of gunfire. a couple of patrol cars struck each other ate second scene, near a mcdonalds. after a second exchange of gunfire, police took the suspect into custody and transported him to a hospital. authorities plan to release more information later this morning. a 12-year-old boy is charged with second degree murder in the beating death of his two-year-old foster sister. anigh abachelor's foster father called for help. he returned to the home on stale lower -- on taylor street and called for 911. the parents say the younger children were left in the care of their 15-year-old son. the 12-year-old suspect is

being held at the youth facility. 100 people need a new place to live this morning after fire ripped through an apartment building in woodbridge, virginia last night. the flames destroyed the fourth floor of a building at the woodbridge apartments. the fire damaged the building next year -- next door. investigators are still looking for the cause of the fire now. it is time for the latest your money report of the morning. >> how about positive numbers? >> reporter: it is a rare occasion lately when wall street focuses on our own economy. except for primarily focusing on something in europe. ahead of the news, stocks were mixed after signs that miles per hour are spending a lit less. the dow stands this morning at 12896, it dropped about 47 points in trading yesterday. the nasdaq was flat on the day

weather first. >> reporter: another run toward 100 degrees. record is 103 today. tomorrow's 109 is in serious jeopardy. rhettee -- let's talk about today though. temperatures in the 70s and 80s with high clouds out there. code orange air quality, again unhealthy, high near 100 with a 98-degree reading still at 5:00. there is the heat advisory for the immediate metro areas inmont domry and fairfax county. up in the philly area that heat warning looks like it is going to be going through at least saturday evening up there. temperatures this morning, way up there. 83 in town, 77 winchester, gaithersburg, 74 if you will. a steamy, sticky mourn. cool spot annapolis at 95.

at 5:39. in about three hours the government will release the june jobs report. on his bus tour yesterday in ohio the president said the job market is slowly recovering. >> we have seen the unemployment rate dropped. >> the president predicted we'd be at 5.6% unemployment. >> now presumptive republican presidential candidate mitt romney says jobs could be the big issue.
