hospital. according to delmarva now the girl has died. neighbors of the family of the 4-year-old who accidentally shot himself in the head have been showing their support by leaving flowers and teddy bears. police say kyrell mcneil of woodbridge found a gun. the stepfather works as a security guard. no charges have been filed at this time. he was told to step aside and come back to the council. you've been given that courtesy at the post office right? that move got a man stabbed in silver spring yesterday. apparently another customer in the new hampshire avenue post office thought that man cut in line. so police say the suspect waited outside the post office for the man and stabbed him several times. the employees pepper sprayed the suspect and investigators say that may have saved the victim's life. the suspect ran off but was quickly captured. police have released a picture of the man who may have kidnap cal ripken's mother. police say this is the person who took violet ripken right there on the screen.

she was taken from her aberdeen, maryland home on tuesday morning. investigators won't say what store the picture was taken from. she was found unharmed down the street from her home in the parking lot of a grocery store. the person who found her says police didn't know just how close they were to her. >> i saw somebody waving a white sweater out of a car window. i stopped and asked the woman inside if she needed help. she said that her house was really close to her but somebody had left her in the car. and that her feet were bound. remembering the roadblock i asked her if it was all right if i got the police. >> so far a motive has not been released in this case. the fbi and state police are assisting authorities in aberdeen. hundreds packed the church in aurora, colorado to say their final good-byes to 23- year-old micayla medek, family and friends cried and tried to comfort each other. 11 others were killed last week

at the point showing of "the dark knight rises." -- midnight showing of "the dark knight rises" last week. some are still in critical condition this morning. the man known as victim two is suing penn state. investigators say that he is the young man that former graduate student mike mcqueary saw in the shower with jerry sandusky back in 2001. in the statement the man's lawyer says he wants to hold university officials accountable for quote -- egregious and reckless conduct. the victim is not named in the statement, as proof his side released messages left by sandusky two months before he was arrested. >> i was just calling to see -- i didn't know if you had any interest in going to the penn state game in saturday. i'd appreciate it when you get this message give me a call. and i'll talk to you later, thanks. love you. >> it says he cannot comment on pending legislation and sandusky of course convicted of 45 counts of child sex abuse

last month. he could be sentenced as early as september and he could be spending the rest of his life in jail. it's called operation log jam. a federal crackdown aimed at stopping the flow of synthetic drugs that includes bath salts and designer marijuana. the feds have raided sites from san diego, california to tampa florida and arrested 91 people and seized $31 million in cash. and dozens of weapons. so look at this. this is what four tons of marijuana looks like. see that big pile of bricks right there? u.s. coast guard pulled over a boat near mexico because of suspicious activity and they caught the boat and found all of that pot. the drugs are worth about $8 million. several people were arrested. the coast guard says so far, it's confiscated 50 tons of marijuana worth $90 million. it's a big day for international sports. the olympics now underway in london. >> the opening ceremonies are

still over 11 hours away but there are few olympic athletes already on the fold now. -- field now. security has been beefed up and 1200 british troops have been deployed and government officials don't want to leave anything to chance in this. they want to have a presence but not to be oppressive. they want the focus to stay on the athletes. twitter says traffic not to blame for yesterday's outage. the social networking company is blaming systems failures. twitter says it's working to resolve the issue. this is the second mass outage for the site in five week. now some are calling twitter's reliability into question. mitt romney will be in london to cheer on the u.s. olympic team. >> he got a few boos though because of the comment he is made about the organizers of the games. susan mcginnis explains. >> reporter: before the lights go on at the olympic stadium for today's opening ceremonies the u.s. team will start the day with a breakfast with first lady michelle obama. when mitt romney wakes up, this is the headline that will greet

$157 million last quarter and revenue growth slowed but it's what facebook didn't say that really got investors. the company offered zero guidance for future earnings. after the bell another report from amazon.com, profits sank 96%. they spent more on expanding its operations and that squeezed its profit margins. and starbucks is warning the profits this quarter and next year will come in below expectations. the coffee chain blames weak consumer spending in europe. the trio of disappointing reports could hammer the stock market today. checking the numbers it was such a good day yesterday -- this after the european central bank vowed to keep the euro intact. probably going to see a pullback this morning. not as many young women are anxious to have babies and the reason here?

the poor economy. according to demographic intelligence the nation's birthrate is at its lowest point in 25 years. the fertility rate not expected to rebound for at least another two years and that could affect birthrates for years to come. marketers tracked these things because they affect sales of thousands of baby products and we're talking diapers, cribs, minivans and bottles and that kind of stuff. another vehicle recall to tell you about this morning. ford recalling 484,600 escapes for a problem with the cruise control cable. the throttle can get stuck in the open position. the model years affected dun all the way through -- 2001 all the way through 2004 with three litter v 6 engines. they are investigating whether it caused the death of an arizona teen this year. jd power and associates ranked the most reliable cars on the road. the toyota prius on top as the most dependable compact car. it's based on the reports of

suburbs. by noon 92. a mix of cloud and sunshine today and this afternoon a couple of storms pop. best chance of having any problems well south of washington. temperatures by 4:00 will actually drop to 89 or so thanks to the thunderstorms and 85 by 8:00. but think the early afternoon high could be about 95 degrees. this morning, we're seeing a lot of the action dissipate and even here in west virginia you'll notice the heavier showers and storms but even that's starting to loosen some of its strength this morning approaching elk? . this stuff will be falling apart over the next few hours. temperatures in the 60s in oakland and garrett county. the rest of us in the 70s and even near 80. richmond though 84 degrees to the south this morning. very muggy there. it is 77 at patuxent naval station. the michael & son weather camera, good visibility, generally clear. the flags are blowing a little bit outside the capitol. so a little bit of a breeze southwest at 7 miles an hour.

with that 78. still, boy that dew point is way up there. kind of stickie with the humidity at 76%. here's the pick picture. intact into part -- back into parts of the mississippi valley the mid mississippi valley and you can see most of the storms now have died down. we're going to crank up the daytime heating ask with that a up can of years -- a couple of years we'll watch for severe weather. one is in the ohio valley and the other one to the south and east with the main threat today damaging wind gusts once again. and any of the stronger storms and you'll notice southern maryland. the eastern shore as you go from east and south down fredericksburg south of the northern neck. you guys are under that slight risk area for severe weather from the storm prediction center. that means just in a more favorable location to have any storms that could be strong to severe as opposed to the rest of us. that doesn't mean we can't get a strong storm outside of that area but those are the most likely areas. the futurecast this morning.

randies pating a cub -- rain diss kating a couple of showers here by noon. we get into the middle of the afternoon, now we're starting to see a few showers and storms pop in the shenandoah valley. near the mason dixon line. but south of town here 6:00 you'll notice the showers and storms again this is a computer depiction of the future and it may be here, it may be there. but the idea is that south and southeast of town the better chance of showers and storms. a few more storms again on saturday afternoon and again on sunday a slight chance of storms, a yellow alert today and tomorrow. right now sunday green for isolated storms and you'll notice temperatures today 95. 70s tonight and a few upper 60s. 90 on sunday. as we head to next week, actually -- quick look at the beach forecast by the way. got to throw this in. 95 today and even a couple of storms here possible over the weekend too as temperatures by sunday. sunday that should be will be in the mid 80s. all right, let's take a look at the rest of the seven day

the international aids conference. the organization is trying to enlighten and raise awareness but some people still have preconceived ideas about who's likely to be hiv positive. >> chances are you probably wouldn't put a soccer mom in that category. anita brikman has more on a woman who's been fighting stereotypes for more than two decades. >> people are living longer and healthier and better lives with 30 approves drugs to treat and manage hiv yet we still have a disease that most americans don't think is really our problem. >> reporter: dawn knows it is. she believes she contracted the virus that caused aids during a rape when she was 19. she got the diagnosis in 1988. >> stigma of course was enormous. when i was diagnosed my doctor said don't read anything. it's too confusing and don't tell anyone because this is going to ruin your family's life. >> she's here for the international conference as founder of the well project that focuses on women with hiv.

it's a nonprofit. she says it's a pivotal moment for two reasons. the approval of an over the counter hiv test anybody can guest at the pharmacy, and a new use for truvada an aids drug that can actually help protect high risk people from infection. >> we really truly can move now to an hiv free generation. >> reporter: dawn is herself living proof of the power of antiretro viral drugs, not just in keeping people alive but in stopping the transmission of hiv from mother to child. she had two healthy hiv negative girls. >> so now i have an 8 and a 10- year-old and i'm you know, a minivan driving soccer mom and i'm standing on the soccer fields next to lots of people who look like me and some people who don't. but most people would not know that they're standing next to an hiv positive soccer mom. if we look around the country, there are 100,000, 200,000 of us standing sidelines and at pta meetings being an important
