parts of northeast maryland and carroll county and baltimore and cecil county got it and western maryland continues to get the brunt of it here the last couple of days. the day planner on friday. the mix of sun and clouds out there this morning with temperatures in town in the upper 70s to near 80. in the low 90s by noon with a mix of clouds and sun. high about 95 today and those afternoon showers and storms probably not much before oh 3:00 or so. that would be south of d.c.. this morning, boy, let me take you back to yesterday. 6:00 p.m. look at these bow echo. bow echo, we had a lot of wind -- wind damage storms here to the north. this stuff fell awart as-coming to us -- apart as it was coming to us and it was good news for us. unfortunately it did damage in the new york region and eastern pennsylvania. a couple of sprinkles in eastern and west virginia leftover now. temperatures in the low to mid- 70s although 60s in fair et county and pushing 80 right now going to about 95. over to monika samtani. 6:00 a.m. with your timesaver traffic. we have one incident right

now. it's southbound on 295 after benning road. and you want to watch out because there's some debris apparently in the right lane scoot over to the left to get around it. let's go over to the west side of town. no problems to report on 66, or the dulles toll road coming in from the airport. you are good to go both of those major corridors to the beltway and no issues at all across the american hee john bridge. -- legion bridge. live outside and if you're going over on the inbound side of i-66, this is at route 50 from our sky 9 and you can see it's actually still looking pretty good heading for 123 and the beltway. i'm happy so say all leans -- to say all lanes are open. this time to the other side of town. no issues to report as you travel in on the bw parkway or route 50. we're looking good all the way through cheverly. no problems on 295 northbound that incident i told you about with southbound after benning road. one more last live look on the inbound side of route 50 at sandy point coming off the bay bridge. good to go. and going to the beach a good idea today. we'll be back with more traffic

coming up at 6:11. jess and mike? we're getting to one of the stories that's happening today. a final decision is expected on a new special session in annapolis. that special session would focus on gambling and whether or not to allottability games in the state. awe -- allow table games in the state. they could decide whether to build a casino at the harbor. governor o'malley is going to hold a news conference at 10:00 this morning to announce whether or not he'll call lawmakers back. it needs to be held by august 20th for any action to be taken this year. women in prince george's county keep a close eye on the purses at the gas stations. >> that's because they hit several gas stations snatching purses from women as they fill their gas tanks. >> delia goncalves is live in capital heights with more on the search for this thief. delia? >> reporter: jessica, this on the 1400 block of hampton park drive here in capital heights one of four area gas stations in prince george's county that's been targeted. and just the past two days.

and you can see that this gas station right now is very busy. but don't be fooled. police say even at a very busy gas station this can still happen and it has happened. it's unclear if the same suspects are responsible but police do have one suspect's vehicle on surveillance tape. the black mercedes suv circles the pumps at the sheriff road gas station in landover. and then you can see the passenger of that suspect's vehicle jumps out and snatches a woman's purse from her open car window, this all happened wednesday at 6:00 in the evening. >> it was -- about 8:00. the morning before thanksgiving. very crowded. i thought it would be safe because there were so many people. i saw the -- the car actually before the guy jumped into any car. i saw him perusing the gas station but once really thinking he was going to rob someone. i thought he was looking for an available pump. >> i keep my remote in my hands

and i lock my door when i leave out and i keep it looked until -- locked until i get to the door and as soon as i get in i lock my door again! that's a good thing to do. >> reporter: what else can you do to make sure you're not the next victim? that's coming it at 6:30. a woman was sexually assaulted wednesday night while jogging on the capital crescent trail. u.s. park police say she was near fletcher's boat house when man approached her from behind and put her in a choke hold. she lost consciousness and awoke to find her pants down and the man touching her. the man ran off. police are hoping photowills help them find the man who abducted the mother of cal ripkennier recently. if you look at them -- ripken jr. recently. if you look at them they look like they're stills. they are offering a $2,000 reward for any tips that load to a conviction.

well we're going to have another partly sunny hot kind of humid day today. not as hot as yesterday. high temperatures into the mid 90s and lunchtime temperatures already 92 but once again a threat for some thunderstorms, best chance of that is south and east of washington. the full weekend forecast in a few minutes. on the northbound side of i- 95 here at the fairfax county parkway a live look from our sky 9 and you can see that traffic still moving at a good pace leer leaving newington to springfield where it bunches up just a bit exiting to the beltway or 395. it's incident free. the time right now is 6:11 on friday morning and a check of the stories making news. the man known as victim two in the jerry sandusky case will sue penn state.

friday morning. but it's a sticky friday morning. dew points in the 70s humidity 83%. so that 79 already feels like it's in the 80s with the heat index and the calm winds not helping much at all. the big key remember up in kansas city and st. louis in that's now drifted down to oklahoma city and dallas. they'll be triple digits today. nice break from the upper midwest and new england seeing 70s today and the west coast enjoyed the coastal areas anyway a very fine summer. the interior section have been seeing the heat like vegas and phoenix and some more showers there. what we're looking at is this boundary that's pushed south and east. that's why they're not in the 100s anymore in st. louis and kansas city at least for the next few days. but showers and storms in the boundary will settle off a little bit south of us. but it looks like the best chance of that will be some in the ohio valley and south of east of town the areas in the slight risk from the storm prediction center. that means the damaging wind

thanks howard. it took one quick listen of redskins' training camp yesterday to find out who the fans were there to see. they were chanting rg3, rg3. >> and amazingly he seems still really humble which is kind of cool. camp started yesterday. redskins park ashburn, virginia. this was the first full day of practice. and it was a little different from years past. all the heavy lifting was done in the afternoon. in the heat. they used to do these big practices in the morning and walk in the afternoons. kristen berset found out how things went. >> i lick it thus far, obviously a little bit tough today with the heat but the nice thing about the bubble is we have the opportunity to go in there if it does get too hot or if we have you know inclement weather. so it's nice to have that facility as well. >> when the coach calmed the shots you have to go with them and i feel that you know a couple more days dealing with it not much to talk about. >> thousands showed up yesterday afternoon to watch the practice. the parking lot is open at noon if you're heading out today.

growing and attracting visitors from across the nation. on capitol hill the house and senate passed resolutions thursday offering condolences to the families of the victims and praising those who saved lived. but lawmakers on both sides don't expect any debate on new gun control measures. it's a sentiment shared by the white house. >> the assault weapons ban san issue that the president has -- is an issue that the president has supported the reinstatement of since its expiration in 2004. but given the stalemate in congress our focus is on steps that we can take to make sure criminals and others who should not have those guns make sure they cannot obtain them. >> the suspected killer, james holmes will be formally charged in court coming up on monday. maryland governor o'malley has been repeatedly facing questions about his political ambitions and expect even more of those questions to surface now. the democrat has launched a federal political action committee. and it's called oh say can you

the suspects' black mercedes suv was caught on surveillance tape wednesday at this gas station on sheriff road in land of. the suspects you can see -- landover. the suspects you can see stake out the gas station circling the pumps and then the passenger suddenly jumps out of the car reaching into an open vehicle window to steal a woman's purse while she stands just inches away. >> they're leaving their windows down. they're leaving their vehicles unsecured. and that's -- you know they're thinking oh i'm just pumping gas. nothing's going to happen. but in fact, that little bit of time -- it's -- that small window is enough opportunity for our suspects to snatch those purses. >> reporter: and these robberies are happening at very busy times of day. we're talking about 9:30, 10:30. even noontime. so you are targeted at any time of day if these suspects do see

500% in the last five years and he believes those cameras are being used to generate revenue instead of making roads safer. but here's the catch. in exchange for lowering the fine, wells wants more of the cameras put up around the city. there are two maul businesses fight -- small businesses fighting over the same name and about 90 minutes awart from each other. >> but that's too close for comfort for at least one of the businesses, this involves two places both called lost dog. one of the lost dog cafe in arlington, virginia and a couple of other locations. then there's the lost dog coffee shop in shepherdstown, west virginia. peggy fox shows us the situation. >> reporter: for years he has been brewing up java at the funky little coffee house lost dog cafe in west virginia. >> turbo, coffee sour. >> reporter: but now he's facing a possible lawsuit from the owners of the possible lost dog cafe of arlington who have a trademark on the name lost

dog. >> how many tony's pizzas are there in the world? >> reporter: last wednesday jansen received this cease and desist letter from the lost dog cafe's lawyer. >> i don't see how anybody could see this small business with four employees and one location in this small town west virginia two hours away if their locations to be a threat. >> reporter: jansen says he has no plans to get rid of the name lost dog. which he says came from a real life experience when he was a kid. a story of a lost and then found dog. which brought his family from colorado to west virginia. but lost dog cafe owner pam says they've had the name longer and must protect their trademark. not only for their flagship restaurant on washington boulevard but the free franchisee owners. >> if we let one thing do, if we let a brand go we open ourselves up to losing a battle in something else.

in the ohio river valley and to the south and east a slight ricking of severe weather for the areas in southern maryland and fredericksburg and the lower eastern shore, damaging wind gusts are the primary threat and it appears in the 3:00 to 6:00, 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. time frame that will be the most likely. 95 today and 75 tonight with 92 tomorrow. fewer storms so we're going to be keeping it green on sunday with 90. next week is still looking a little bit unsettled. a couple of storms at the beach also this weekend. unsettled with temperatures in the upper 80s for highs. michael? thank you howard. well it's friday we decided we wanted to celebrate a little bit and put on the dancing shoes. we have some special guests in here this morning. a dance troupe called encore from prince george's county. and joining me now is is that meek what. tell me about encore and you guys are trying to raise some money in weekend. >> we have a fundraiser tomorrow. at laurel high school in laurel, maryland. and it's to raise money for encore to be able to go to

before you go. a man upset at being cut in line stabbed another person yesterday at the post office in colesville, maryland. now police say the victim is in serious but not life- threatening condition. the man police say did the stabbing, is in custody but not yet charged. the project to rebuild 18th street in adams mar gone is finally -- morgan is finally done. mayor gray is going to cut the ribbon today to celebrate wider sidewalks and better lighting there. it took $7 million and took a year and a half. michael morse drove in two runs last night as part of the hit parade for the nationals. they beat the brewers 8-2. the nats have won six games in a row. and are tied for the best record in baseball. 6:54. time now to reveal the answer to the question of the morning, here it was once again --
