capital jewelers last friday afternoon. wong's daughter told 9news her father made his career as a watch maker and a jeweler. she spoke to her father around 1:00 friday afternoon and when he didn't come home, they went to the store and called police. investigators found wong's body inside the store. if you have any information please call arlington police. police need your help finding a suspect in a sexual assault. a woman was jogging on the capital crescent trail when she was attacked last week after the assault, the suspect ran toward fletcher boathouse. he is approximately 180, 200 pounds muscular build with dreadlocks and three to four inches long. light scuff if i beard. he was wearing a white shirt possibly a tank top. long, jersey type black shorts. please call park police if you have any information. police are searching for answers after a machine's body

was found in the potomac river. a boater discovered the body around 10:00 yesterday morning. authorities say there are no obvious signs of trauma. an autopsy will be performed. a prince george's county police officer is recovering after being shot in the leg. officer rachael jacobs was shot last friday after she clashed with a group of patrons in the galaxy nightclub in langley park. the officer was working security detail at the club and reportedly kicked the group out. they later drove past the entrance in a white honda and the driver allegedly fired slots. one of those bullets striking the officer. police have charged 32-year-old kelly gill list with first degree attempted murder. a sad start to the week. remember the dc public schools, one of their teachers will be laid to rest today. jill shanea was vacationing in the outer banks in north carolina when she and her husband were swept under by a

rip current. and she was pregnant. >> her husband barely survived but jill and her baby could not be saved. >> reporter: i talked with the couple's sister and brother-in-law. the couple was taking a last vacation before the baby arrived. her husband, an accomplished tv producer and video fer was documenting and filming their vacation so he could one day share it with his daughter. instead matt shanea captured the last moments of his wife's life. >> our hearts are broken. i think everyone that will come to the service monday will see matt and jill's love is the love of a lifetime. >> reporter: mark johnson not only talks about two lives lost but a love story, cut short. the couple was expecting their first child. 31-year-old jill shanea was six months pregnant, vacationing when she slipped off a sand bar. her husband tried to keep her afloat for nearly half an hour when both went under.

first responders found the couple face down 20 yards from the shore. they were flown to the hospital. the doctors were able to revive matt, but found the baby had no heartbeat and mom had no pulse. >> you could tell she was going to be the greatest mother of all. for us, she was this angel. >> reporter: she taught second grade at river school on northwest washington, by all accounts an exceptional teacher for the hearing impaired. on the front door there is a tribute to their beloved teacher. >> i brought my son in to see matt and to see jill and i wanted in our own way to be able to tell jill that we loved her. >> reporter: the school set up a tribute page and parents are writing in. one family writes jill loved our son, thomas, and he loved her. we don't know how to tell him she is gone, it will tear up his heart. most of jail's family is in roanoke, virginia where she will

>> and sources tell cbs news the regime has about six months of money to keep the fighting going there. >> here's a look at other things making news now. james holmes, the man accused in the colorado theater shooting will be arraigned and officially charged today. during the hearing prosecutors are also expected to present new evidence which was discovered last week. we are learning new details about the case. the aurora police chief says the theater normally hires off-duty police to work on weekends, but there were no security officers on hand the night of the shooting, the company, which runs the theater, is not commenting. a 19-year-old cent state university student is scheduled to be arraigned today for allegedly posting a twitter message saying he planned to shoot up the campus. williamber ray is charged with one count of inducing panic and aggravated menacing. he was arrested yesterday in

wall street expects big things from the federal reserve this week. most believe the fed will announce new steps wednesday to boost the economy. no announcement would be a major disappointment from wall street. home prices and auto sales consumer confidence and the july unemployment report due out friday. last week stocks rallied. checking the numbers it is a pleasure this morning. the dow starts the day back above 13,000 for the first time since may after rising 188 points in friday. the nasdaq was better by 65 and the s & p 500 was up by 26 points. app 8 versus samsung. the legal battle is the smartphone gets underway today in a courtroom in san jose, california. at issue is when samsung stole apple's patent. or when apple ripped off samsung's intellectual property to rip off its iphone and ipad.

this week. >> reporter: i want to tell you we need some rain. it has been one of the hottest months and we'll find out in a day or two as we are wrapping up this july. it is a funny thing or maybe the interesting thing the last two julys were the hottest months on record. we are in a trend here, not a very good one. one of the things the heat, well it has also been dry, very dry. the drought monitor that comes in thursday from tuesday's data. we won't get an update until this thursday. as of last week the abnormally dry areas were most of the area. just about everybody except for far northeastern maryland, when you start to take it to the next level that extend ad cross the metro. it had been on the eastern shore but it has been advancing off to the west-southwest. folks were saying you know, it is not that bad here. maybe your lawn isn't so bad. but for the farmers and stuff moderate drought has spread to many areas. then when you start to drill down the severe drought that is

the big heat today, oklahoma the next few days will be between 105 and 110 in oklahoma city. hotter than that across the sooner state. for us though, not too bad. look at the 80s on the eastern seaboard. the big ridge of high pressure over kansas city and st. louis. that has shifted off to the south now with the storms up and over. most of the storminess will stay west of us for the next couple of days. quiet, isolated shower or two, that is it for the afternoon. so we should expect a generally dry day. tomorrow with the easterly wind we are going to start with cloudy skies, we'll mix it up a little bit. partly supany by afternoon. winds hit the mountains, better chance of showers and maybe thunder as you hit the mountains west from the blue ridge in toward the higher elevations of western maryland, with spotty showers in the afternoon on tuesday across the metro. maybe even a better chance for showers and storms on wednesday
